Framing In this video, I add 3/4" birch plywood framing boards (or furring strips) to the interior walls of the van and 1/2" birch plywood to the roof cross beams. Each framing board is fastened to the van using rivnuts and bolts. Between the boards and the sheet metal, I added additional sheets of low-e foam aluminum coated insulation. These further insulate the van by preventing heat from tra...

Then proceed to totally underestimate the complexity of the project and doubt every ou...
Subtle ( Lower volume) music would be less distracting 😊 excellent build. Narration would be better than music
Good timing! Just trying to figure out what to do with my Van ceiling.
Excellent build all the way through and at the end you didn't miter the edging on that step by the side door? Is something gonna hide that? Really nice work though. 🎉
that look really good so far.
Thank you!!
I really enjoyed the “why” intro to this video. Great job, Cory!
Thanks for following along ❤
If you want enlarge smaller hole and center pilot drill cannot hold holesaw centered, just take piece of scrap wood and drill hole there. Now put that piece where you want big hole and stand on it This scrapwood keeps holesaw from wandering around.
Great tip, thank you!
I could be mistaken but it really looked like you were using a “brad point” drilling bit. These are strictly used for wood. It would make drilling any metal difficult. I’m doing the same as you, converting a van. I’m a previous builder, have a cabinet shop, and tons of building experience. You are to be applauded for tackling such a giant project without a lot of experience. I’m sure, like me, you’re learning a lot. I’m enjoying your videos.
I used these Dewalt drill bits: amzn.to/3z7hyEI They’re supposed to be rated for wood & metal, but I had a super hard time with them. I eventually picked up a set of cobalt drill bits that worked a bit better. I think a drill press and/or metal specific bits would’ve saved a ton of time. Glad you’re enjoying the videos :). It is a massive project. Best of luck on your build!
Looking great!
Looks like we both installed our heater at the same time 😄 Good work! I still have to drop my tank, though...
Installing the heater pre faroutride guide was definitely the hard mode install. Good luck with the tank drop! I found the videos from the AVC rig instagram useful. I also ended up re-routing my fresh air intake to a shorter run towards the middle of the van under the exhaust pipe. All working well! Fav part of my van so far 🔥
Thanks for posting this video. It takes courage to show a technical install by a DIYer. Everyone gets to see every success and failures (but you nailed it!). I have the same heater, That I am putting in my Transit, under the seat as well. So very timely. Another very excellent video for this install was just put out by Adventure Wagon on their website. I would highly recommend viewers see it as well.
Thanks for following along : ). I'll check out the Adventure Wagon video! I'd also recommend checking out the new guide that FarOutRide just put out on their website: faroutride.com/espar-install - looks like they just did the exact same install (they have some of the best DIY guides IMO). Best of luck!
Where did you get your vinyl sheet flooring? Great video!
Picked it up at a local hardware & building supply store!
It would be nice to hear what you are doing.
Nice walls.
Some good ol’ fashioned carpentry work. We love to see it. Now release the not sped up, real time, 12+ hour version for the serious Cory’s Van Build fans
120 hour version coming sooooon 🚐
I love my 50 ants charger too 🫢
The van professor back at it yet again 🔥🔥🔥 Shout out to Tims dope new beat too 🤘
Tim coming in hot with the DOPEST beats
Thanks for sharing. I am still waiting for these to be available to get one. How low can you set the charge amperage? Can you actually go below one full amp - say for example 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 of an amp? The manual I think says you can can adjust the amperage in 1/10 amp increments up to 50amp?
Yeah, just tested today. You can adjust the amperage in 0.1 increments. I was able to set both the input & output amperage down to 0.1 amps! Best of luck :)
Riveting and intellectually intimidating stuff - great work dude! Nailed it.
Toasty warm 🔥
sick multitool and amazing job!
❤❤❤
Really impressive. I’m curious why you need two fans for such a small enclosure.
Thanks Bill :) I went with two fans to help with keeping condensation down in winter and to circulate air through the van on hot summer days. AC is suuuper expensive & power hungry for vans so this felt like a solid compromise. You can set one to intake air and the other to blow air out which gets a really nice breeze going in the van. Also was thinking one in the cooking area for ventilation and one over the bed to keep sleeping cool would be nice!
That awning did not have you yawning. Crazy adjustments to have to make but as always, great work!!
awning had me werkin. Thank you dooood <3
Can’t wait for the next installment!
Glad you’re following Uncle Bill!
I'm building out my Transit Trail and picking up quite a few tricks from you (transfer screw set) !!! Thanks!
Jealous of the transit trail. That was my hope initially, but when I picked up my van late last year they weren't really in circulation yet. Good luck on the build. YOU GOT THIS!
Been really enjoying these videos mate, very helpful for someone that's currently planning their own conversion! I appreciate how you've been avoiding as many thermal bridges as possible. Looking forward to seeing what solutions you come up with for the rest of 'em, especially the ones around the side and rear doors. Keep it up!
Glad you're finding them useful! Thanks for following along. The low-e reflective insulation has been awesome for all of the sheet metal. I've yet to figure out a plan for the rear and side doors - I'll be sure to share if I come up with something.
Damn dude this was *in depth* It’s amazing watching your progress on this project. Keep killing it! See ya on the next one
Gotta keep giving the people what they want (detailed rivnut installation guides) ofc
That's funny: I just started framing my Promaster today, using the same transfer screws, works fantastik and so accurate!
The transfer screws have been SO nice. Good luck with the build!!
great video!
Making great progress!
Really great video! I gotta start planning pre wiring for my van as well. Would you consider sharing or giving a closer look at your wiring calculation spreadsheet?
Thanks for following along : ) Yeah, I'm happy to share - here's the spreadsheet I created for the branch wiring: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14vDVQDtSGsn4bUlma7N1HqGW_1iZnuIXt_F2_RS5xNw/edit?usp=sharing And here's the draw.io full electrical branch circuit schematic I created: drive.google.com/file/d/1ZsL77HJOku8zcH-s28PufPNV8IW_GsUJ/view?usp=sharing
@@crowlsyung Thanks so much this is very helpful!
FVCO rack? Love the bag idea to contain metal shavings! I’ll definitely be using that idea. You really did a great job planning with that computer program. I’m still debating on the 3-way switches. So many wires. 🥴 Thanks.
Yeah got the FVC roof rack! Def went a bit overkill with the digital planning but it helped a lot with conceptualizing the wiring. I think if you’re very strategic with the placement there’s no need for 3 way switches, but they are pretttty cool.
Can you give some insight as to the swivel base you added and why the trac needed cut shorter? I just bought a Ford Transit, so very curious about this
I installed scopema swivel seats for both the passenger & driver seats. It's not totally necessary, but trimming the seat rails prevents them from scraping the plastic of the doors and allows for a smoother swivel. Here's a great reference for the installation: faroutride.com/swivel-transit/. I followed this guide. It details it all pretty clearly. Good luck!
@@crowlsyung awesome. Thank you so much. The detail and pics are great!!!
12:04 What's the black material you using for cover the edge there mate?
I just bought a roll of thin, maybe 1/16" rubber from ace hardware, cut it into a thin strip and stapled it into the plywood sub floor. Easy method for protecting the layers beneath the vinyl. I needed something that would flex easily around the curved garage area. Highly recommend this method : )
Sweet. Thx mate! Appreciated. :)))
Hi - Thank you for the video. Did you check to make sure you did not insulate the bottom channels at the base of the interior. Some of these are used to move water and should not be insulated or obstructed.
Good tip, I only insulated the side walls down to the base, so the bottom channel is unobstructed. Thinsulate is also hydrophobic, so should be all good. Thanks for watching : )
The legend is back. The work you’re doing is so impressive dude - keep it up! See you at 6:00AM
Thanks mayn <3. See you bright & early.
One more question, what is the adhesive tape you used for the 1" aluminum tubing? John
3M VHB tape. I also applied a layer of 3M adhesion promoter 111 prior to lying the tape to increase the bind strength. Good luck with your build!
What size is your larger window? I have a Transit 148 and want to put the Arctic Tern window behind the driver seat as well. Thanks!
The bigger window is the 450x900mm size!
PSG for the win. Stainless steel = slow drilling. Drill press.
Go PSG!! A drill press would’ve made this project 10x easier 🥲
The van looks great dude! You’re nailing these video edits too! Keep on dude can’t wait for the next upload. Also shout out to that bread ✌️
Keeping on keepin on 🔨
Looking clean, awesome work! Also, Yerba, sponsor this man.
@guayaki 🤞🏻
Thanks dude : )
Gorgeous floor! Excellent workmanship! ❤ You have a new subscriber in me. I hope to build one out this year and you my new friend, I will be learning from you!!
Thanks! Good luck with your build, I hope you go for it :)
What adhesive did you use for the insulation to the van floor and the plywood to the insulation? Nice work👍
I used 3M 90 to bond the black mini cell foam strips to the trenches in the van floor. GE Silicone II to bond the pink foam board to the raised portions of the van floor. PL 300 foam board adhesive to bond the plywood to the pink foam board. And vinyl floor adhesive to bond the vinyl to the plywood. Thanks for watching :)
@@crowlsyung did you use 1/2” or 1” insulation?
@@davidhanson55141”
This video deserves way more views. It was quiet chill to watch. I prefer build videos like this. great work !
This rocked. Best van channel out there! Super clean work too. Edit: additional compliment.
