Found this on their website that explains it! The #009 was the race number emblazoned on the Aston Martin DBR9 that scored back-to-back GT1 class victories for the brand in the 2007 and 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Once a car is homologated they have a certain number of test days that are allowed per season! Prior to the car being homologated and approved to race in the series they can test as much as they want! Last I heard Aston Martin were at 14,000km plus of testing which is about in line with where Porsche and Cadillac were when the LMDh cars were introduced!

That’s true! Although winning championships in both IMSA and the WEC like Porsche did this year is pretty good too!

It is not the car to beat it is just a BOP advantage they get and they used already jokers and some others not for example the Toyota is way older and didn’t use any jokers yet

That's fair, they all provide great racing! What we have with the GTD PRO class right now I think is special. We saw some awesome battles in the class last year and with the Corvettes/Mustangs coming on strong at the end of the year I really think it's going to be a wide open multi-manufacturer battle next year!

The Mustang sounds so good, it's arguably the best sounding GT3 car out there right now!

In this clip it is, but it sounds like they might not have to run the muffler that they were in this either. We'll just have to wait and see how the car gets homologated!

My understanding is that if a brand uses an Evo Joker it has to be used across all of their cars in both championships!

No worry at all! So an Evo Joker is basically a set of upgrades that manufacturers build to apply to their already existing cars. Over the course of the cars lifespan (or it's homologation period) each car is allowed 5 Evo Jokers upgrades which means they can make up to 5 performance based upgrades to the car. Since the Cadillac's upgrades are intended to enchance the performance of the car they are using their first of 5 Jokers. Whenever an upgrade is made it needs to be certified by the governing bodies and applied to ALL of the cars that manufacturer runs (so Cadillac have to apply these to the IMSA and WEC entries). Some updates are allowed to be made to the car without using up one of their Jokers but these are generally just safety upgrades. Hope that helps!

@@srxshadow They actually just added a rule that the upgrades can only be applied in the offseason and not after the season starts!

Definitely, after what we saw in the GTD classes last year I think we're going to see the GTD PRO class really shine this year. The manufacturers with newer cars should be consistently strong and I think we'll see a lot of different cars win a race!

Yup that's correct! The car gets 5 joker upgrades per homologation period and the manufacturer can use them to make (usually) performance upgrades. Other upgrades are allowed that don't require the use of a Joker but those are limited to safety upgrades usually.

Haha! I agree that it's been a bit surprising that they haven't been looking into any Joker upgrades. With that in mind though they could be just saving them for a single large update to the car where they use 2 or 3 Jokers in a single round of updates! And thatnk you, glad you enjoyed the video!

I'd agree, as a motorsports fan. But, with the ever encroaching residential communities near tracks here in the US, it would not be in the best interest of the fans or sport.

I think the better results that we saw late in the season last year for BMW will be a sign of things to come next year for them! I could see them in the running for multiple races wins next year

That's reasonable to say I think! Had they gotten out first on that final pit stop I think they would have gone on to win! Gotta give Penske credit though for coming through with that perfect stop!

Hey Esteban, couldn't agree more! The switch to UA-cam was fantastic for the international audience and I thought really helped to bring a sense of community during the races! The whole IMSA team I thought did a good job this season making the sport more accessible and I'm looking forward to what they do for next year! Cheers!

Yeah I think they will be in for a strong 2025! That being said I think next year will be the most competitive year in the GTD classes that we've seen in some time!
