Hi Geoff, Chuck, & Victor !! Great show guys, thank you !!!! Chuck happy you are healthy. Victor happy things worked out for you going to Ottawa University in Surprise,Ariz. Geoff good luck with your move. As soon as I heard Kim went to the Dodgers, I basically said, LA gets whoever they want. With health Dodgers probably will be even better. Our Angels, 2025 should be a continued building process, keep giving the kids experience. Hopefully with some luck ??? get high 70s wins ??? Maybe take a big step forward by 2026. You guys are right, for player transactions it has been silence since Thanksgiving. Maybe it's me but right now we seem to have a logjam at corner outfield and DH. It's about 5 weeks till Tempe, will Perry make a move ? If we sign Santander it further complicates it. We'll all see what happens, it will be interesting to watch. I'm really looking forward to Christian Moore's spring training. He's close if not ready. If he does just ok in spring then a little more development at Rocket City or SLC would be alright. Sometime in 2025 he should be ready. Christian like every player has strengths and weaknesses but he is a winner and a gamer and there is electricity in his bat. Very soon, we could have an elite player. Take good care everyone Go Angels !!!!
Arte keeps kicking the can down the road. Hes completely okay with mediocrity and alot of lets just wait and see. It takes a team and depth, no one or two players can save this franchise, im sure they are thinking well make another big signing once we get rendon off our books. I dont see why they cant tell him stay home, and angels can somehow keep 10-15 million from his deal. Just have an early departure, i see no way he can be anymore active then last few years. 2 more years of rendon is deadful.
They way you show your dissatisfaction is simple. Stop going to games. Stop buy Angels merch. Boycott. Money is the only thing Moreno cares about.
Ahhh! An Angels show. The definition of futility and desperation. One of the hardest things to do must be to root for a team that is a laughing stock of an organization. You guys do deserve better.
Agreed. The angels are the NY Jets of baseball. Bad Ownership. Bad management. Bad player development. Inept players. Underperforming "stars". etc...
Dodgers are the new Evil Empire more money than any team except Mets deferred money so they won’t go over cap. Can’t wait to play them and I am sure every other team in the league. It’s definitely not going to be a cake walk for them I don’t care how good they are on paper the baseball gods will always be there to humble. Baseball is bigger than any team…..
There is an angles podcast, wild.
There are six that I’m aware of.
Bauer would come
Dave Winfield had a great arm too.
Angel fans got buttercupped yet again. Make sure you go out and spend more money on this inept franchise. Remember, pitching wins and we don’t have pitching. Hendricks and Anderson in the same rotation is a joke. Looking forward to another 4th place finish 👏🏻
4th place?? They were last in 2024 and they A's added Severino and Springs to a team that won 6 more games than the Angels did. ESPN's "Way too early 2025 rankings" has the A's ranked 26th and winning 75 games. The Angels are better than the 2024 team, but still significantly worse than the 2023 team with Ohtani. Assuming Trout can play half the season like he did in 2023 (BIG if based on the last 5 years), this team will be somewhere between the two teams. Kikuchi is not as good as Ohtani was on the mound in 2023. And Soler is not as good as Ohtani was at the plate. So if this is the best Minasian can do, this team will MAYBE win 70 games in 2025. Enough wins to finish....dead last. Again. However, IF Trout continues his 5 year trend of missing significant time, along with Neto starting on the IR, this team will lose 95+ games again and will have a chance to lose 100 games for the first time in franchise history.
@@mattosso7676 If everyone stays healthy (which is a big if) then I can see the Angels battling it out for 4th. But I have no faith in this team whatsoever, especially when the rotation consist of Hendricks and Anderson.
💯% agree that pitching, ➡️ especially starting pitching, ➡️ wins games consistently. As it currently stands, the Angels will not be competitive in 2025 ➡️ unless every player on the roster is healthy for the entire season and performing at their optimum levels. Thus, the Angels should attempt to trade Taylor Ward and Tyler Anderson ➡️ for five 5️⃣ pitching prospects (primarily starting pitching prospects) now. Then, the Angels will have an abundance of pitching talent to trade for position player talent, but only if necessary. When Christian Moore and their 2025 number one draft pick are ready, the Angels may be able to contend for at least a wild card in 2026 or 2027. Acquiring high level prospects through trades (Logan O’Hoppe) and the draft (Christian Moore, Nolan Schanuel, Zack Neto, and their 2025 number one draft pick) and then developing those high level prospects is “the way” for the Angels to get back to contention.
@bouncingball101 Exactly. Pitching is the Key and they have attempted to get pitching right since Jered Weaver retired. Both MLB and ESPN have initial predictions/rankings that have the A's ahead of the Angels. Which, if these predictions hold, means the Angels will finish 5th again. Angels have improved a little bit. Their pitching staff (on paper) looks better than last season. (But that's not saying much.) But they still aren't as good as the 2022 rotation. So they are somewhere in between 2022-2024. That was WITH Ohtani and a healthy Trout, who played 119 games and hit 40 HRs. And they STILL only managed 73 wins. Neto is going to miss time. And when he is able to play again, he will rehab in the minors until he's ready. And even then, we have no idea how he'll rebound. Even if he makes a full recovery, the missed time means the Angels will likely be starting Newman at SS. Although is a better fielder, doesn't have the power at the plate that Neto brings. A Neto is much more of a threat on the basepath. And then you have a whole bunch of guys coming off IR that we have NO idea how they will perform (including Trout) So, I'm predicting this team, as currently constructed, will win 70 games. And that ONLY happens IF Kikuchi and Hendricks pitch well, Trout not only stays healthy, but hits 40+ HRs, Soler hits 30+ HRs, Stephenson becomes a factor in the bullpen, Neto misses minimal time, Schanuel improves his power, Moniak returns to his 2023 form, Ward plays like he did in 2022...if ALL of those happen and the team stays relatively healthy.... then they win 70 games. Yet another sub-.500 season. Hardly anything to get excited about.
@@mattosso7676 💯% agree that the Angels will not contend ➡️ in 2025. If they want to contend ➡️ in 2026, then they should trade Taylor Ward (for three pitching prospects) and Tyler Anderson (for two pitching prospects) now to add to their “current stable” of ➡️ high level pitching prospects ➡️ (Ben Joyce, Caden Dana, George Klassen, Samuel Aldegheri, etc.). Then, with an abundance of high level pitching prospects, ➡️ the Angels can (only if necessary) trade for high level position players. In my opinion, the way for the Angels to get back to contention is to build through acquiring high level prospects and then letting those prospects develop. The Angels already have a good young core of high level position players, such as ➡️ Christian Moore, Logan O’Hoppe, Nolan Schanuel, Zack Neto, and either Ethan Holliday or Jace Laviolette with their 2025 first round draft pick. It will take time (a couple of years), ➡️ but once it occurs, then sustained success is not only possible, but probable.
Victor wins podcast
This pod made me realize how crappy Epplar was as a GM and set the Angels years back. With draft picks and international misses and overpays.
100%. I don't believe this whole narrative that the Angels are trending up simply because they have a few DECENT young prospects that may or may not become cornerstones to a rebuild. Eppler and Moreno bungled things so badly, they set the Angels back AT LEAST a decade.
The only players coming here are guys capitalizing one one good season and guys whose careers are hanging on by a thread. No big name wants to play here unless you significantly overpay
Or SoCal guys who want to move back home so they can be with their families when they retire in 2 years. 😆
I wish we got Kim. Our infield defense would've been second to none. I heard Ohtani convinced him to play for the Dodgers instead. They share the same agent as well.
Let's face it. Almost no one wants to play for the Angels. All the players they signed, besides Kikuchi, are SoCal natives who just wanted to be in SoCal because their careers will be over in 2 years. So Newman, Kendricks and D'Arnaud signed with the Angels to prepare for retirement. 😂
Happy anniversary guys and great show!
Fun-gao? Why would you say this when speaking about ohtani ? Didn’t rocks in the outfield get canceled for being those kind of comments
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Geoff & Chuck !! Thank you !! Great show !! Wow, so much to think about from the show. I'm hoping we've got a couple more moves left this off season. If we haven't made any moves in January then I doubt we will. For 2025, continue with the kids and the vets we did pick up. Maybe next season will be a continuation of the development in 2024. Obviously, win alot more than 63, I'm hoping ??? to improve by 10 or 12 wins, even win in the 77 range would be awesome compared to this past season. Like you've both said, we desperately need Trout on the lineup for 140+ games. Without Mike, it the same lousy story we've seen for the last 5 yeats. Rendon, backup infielder at best. He would need a huge spring to start again. Its just me but I'm hoping Christian Moore takes the second base job in Tempe. Rengifo would be at third and Newman filling in at short till Zach is healthy. Again we seem to have a log jam in the outfield. Soler hopefully is productive at DH. Trout hopefully can stay healthy in LF. Moniak in CF and Adell in RF. Right now what's Ward's status ? Will we resign Pillar as a 4th OF ? Will Matthew Lugo get an opportunity to become a part of the outfield group ? I'm a fan of Moniak and Adell and 2025 will be huge for them to step up big time to become impact players. Getting the 2nd draft pick next July will be one of the most important decisions in Angels history. If,if it'sJace LaViollette then he could become an all star very quickly. If it's, Ethan Holiday then he could be our future 3rd baseman but being a high school player might take 2+ years in the minors. From all reports he has all star ability. For all of us, the losing sucks, there's a really good chance that we'll be under .500 in 2025, that would be 10 years of a losing record, the highest in the majors. We are hopefully getting better with the kids, it's our only hope. Patience will be needed. We need to let this play out. Oops, almost forgot, Like Moniak and Adell, 2025 will be huge for Detmers. Reid's Angels career is kinda at a crossroad. Something will have to dramatically happen to get him squared away or sadly he'll need a change of scenery to become the pitcher he's capable of and we'll be left with "what could've been" Oops part 2, you are both 1000% right about Shohei and how the front office mis managed his upcoming free agency. We could have gotten so many impact prospects for Shohei. Just like you both said in the Soto trade to the Padres, the Nationals got so many prospects. Take good care everyone Go Angels !!!!
I still have faith in Wash. Neto defense improved and so did others. Look at Adel and others. This season gets a pass. Plus he had to come in and evaluate the team and trim the fat
Congrats on the 20th anniversary!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
Great job, guys! Miss Victor.
Perry SUCKS! The Angels just love spending money to remain perpetually average, don't they? They've assembled this "All-Star" lineup of underwhelming role players like it's going to save the franchise. Yusei Kikuchi? Solid in spurts, but not exactly the ace to fix their rotation woes. Kevin Newman? Oh, good-a shortstop with a bat so cold it might actually cool off California summers. Kyle Hendricks? The guy's pitching style is so soft they might as well call him batting practice. Travis d'Arnaud? If he can stay healthy for 20 games, it'll be a miracle. And Jorge Soler? Sure, he'll hit 20 bombs, but good luck getting him to hit anything All this, just to finish 4th in the AL West again
Bad take. Its like you weren't listening
@@adrianacev7579 this is my grievance with this inept organization. If you don’t agree with my “take” then why don’t you enlighten me on where I went wrong because I’m sure your opinion is sooo much more valid and logical
@@Dr_Doom14 I agree. The Angels are in a grey area - Not rebuilding and not competing. The team is just existing at this point. One of the lowest stadium attendance as well, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. It's sad.
@@DoubleDown310 They were actually 13th in attendance last year. OC has a great fanbase. He has a top 10 fanbase and refuses to build a winner. Oh! and he's a billionaire who has the money to do so.. One of the many examples of how inept Arte is as an owner.
@@adrianacev7579 seems like you haven’t seen the angels the past 10 years
What a crock. Soler won’t hit 20 HRs. Hendricks fastball is timed with an hour glass. Rotation still sucks even without Canning. I don’t think MLB will allow 6 outfielders. The Angels suck. Perry has become Anthopoulos’ lap dog. Don’t forget Perry Mistaken is MR. 99. Arte gets the blame but Perry is the moron.
P.S MOORE CONTENT (MORE)
So with this new revelation on spending more, we start with Hendricks whe he can be gotten on February 1st for a used bag of "batting practice baseballs" I'm not buy!ng it, as a lifelong fan I'm expecting more dollar store s!goings like Hendricks
I’m in the believe it when I see it especially when you hear how free agents really aren’t interested in signing here. Arte is gonna have to overspend which could cost them additional free agents
Great show guys! Great news! I hope Arte starts spending money in a good way!
About time I thought you guys called it quits. Thank you for the Hot Stove info. I think Snell and possibly Montgomery trade would be great. The dbacks owner called him out and I’m sure they would trade for cheap for salary dump
Angels are back to loading up on more and more discount players. Same ole Arte crud.
Being an Angel fan is depressing. We now have two of the slowest pitchers in baseball on an already inept rotation.
We need Bauer!
Hi Chuck & Geoff !! Great show, thank you !! Awesome to see you guys again ! For all of us, it will be a interesting off season. I want the young rebuild to continue. Add in affordable free agents obviously but don't want to lose high draft picks in compensation for expensive ones. The opening day roster will be fun watching how it evolves. Picking up Soler should help but I don't want it to put Adell & Moniak on the bench like Hicks did early this past season. For me I want Jo & Mickey to play regularly, give Mickey a day off occasionally against a tough lefty. Kinda guessing but it seems we need to make an outfield trade, probably with Ward to unclog the log jam. Trout hopefully stays healthy, 140+ games, LF, DH or whatever keeps his bat in the lineup. Soler I guess primary DH and maybe 40 games in outfield ? Agree with you both, there are some great ballparks in Arizona spring training and it's fun to see them. Just got back from seeing an Arizona Fall League game, awesome experience. Extremely affordable and sit right up close. Take care guys Go Angels !!!!
Nolan needs more credit than he gets awesome first baseman
He's getting there. I still have hopes he can be a solid 1B.
I zero faith in the Angel's scouting and player development dept. The reality is they have the worst and most underfunded department in MLB including EVEN THE PIRATES!!!! Arte should sell the damm team or invite other investors into the fray WHICH HE WON'T DO, WHY BECAUSE THAT WOULD MEAN LESS DECISION MAKING POWER FOR HIM. Something like the what Dodgers and Green Bay Packers have in the NFL is the best This is why actual fortune 500 companies can get rid of a bad CEO like Ford did or Papa John's pizza did.
Jack's already the Angels' best starting pitcher. So consistent. I hope he can keep it rolling in 2025.
Caden has that "ace" vibe. He and Samuel give me hope!!
Samuel is going to be in the Angels' rotation for many years. Great guy, solid pitcher.
Oh man he is such a cutie…why doesn’t he cut his hair and shave….soooo good looking,..crazy!
Great show! Please Try to Get Adam on again next year!
Great show guys !!!! Thank you !! Totally fun !! Like you all said, stay with the kids. Our kids give us hope, now and for the future. Quick ? For either one of you. I saw the video of Christian Moore injuring his left knee diving for a ball either Thursday or Friday night. All weekend I've been trying to find any updates but nothing. Communication coming from the Angels front office can be frustrating. Most of us have been awaiting Christian's debut and wondered why its taking so long. Now this, it didn't look good and feels like another punch in the gut for the Angels and their fans. With all of our injuries in recent seasons, to have this happen right before a call up is horrible and beyond disappointing. Any news you both can pass on would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ! Take good care Go Angels !!!!
The most recent update I saw was yesterday from SI: "Christian Moore, sustained a leg injury during Friday's game. This development could mark a setback for Moore's chances of being called up in 2024, though the exact nature and severity of the injury is not yet known."
Thank you Geoff ! Hoping Christian is healthy and ready to go for spring training. Awesome show, thank you !!!!
Real stand up guy! 🔥
Ha! Great impersonation!
Great interview Chuck. Thank you Sir. 🙌👏👍
It was 1986 for me2... I constantly fantasize about the 80's throwback uni's when the play Mets in interleague
That was absolutely great! Many thanks!!
Great show guys!
Thanks buddy!! See you on the website!
Thank you guys !! Awesome as always !! Our kids are our present and future to bring back winning baseball. I agree that 2025 will continue to be a development season. Hopefully 2026 aim for .500 or even more, hopefully in 2027 make a playoff run. It takes time and patience is needed, wish it could happen sooner but that is just not realistic. We've all gotta stay patient and let the rebuild work. Keep getting more kids to add. Mike Trout's future, obviously get his input but number 1 priority is getting his bat in the lineup for 145+ games in 2025. Is he a DH or CF or LF, I honestly don't know but whatever keeps him healthy is most important. Quick add, My wife and I live only 2 miles from the ballpark and the feeling we get from local people who are Angels fans is that with the kids and the rebuild we are going in the right direction. Keep this plan and don't change it, let this work. Angels fans are totally fine with being patient and watching the kids grow and improve. Take good care everyone Go Anger !!!!
Oops, Go Angels !! This 71 year old can't type !!!!
Thank you, Bill!!
Awesome watch! Sam Blum blocked me on Twitter after I let out the secret on how to read articles online 🫢
We hear get a healthy season of Anthony Rendon and my question is what is a healthy Anthony rendon he’s got no power doesn’t drive the ball in the gaps take away his contract he’s a bench guy at this point his production just isn’t there and hasn’t been even when he’s healthy
Heck of a show fellas
Good show gentlemen
Love these interviews and awesome to see these players outside of their daily baseball grind.
Keep these coming great interviews
