I would not record in 120 fps for a long time, also the quality is not the best compared to 60 fps for what I have seen, but haven't actually compared it yet. I use Pro mode and Sharpness at -1 or 0, and Noise reduction at -2 for best sharpness in good light.

There are many things that could be the problem, but you need to activate bluetooth and use DJI Mimo app for transfer to phone before editing.

Yes it is a big difference between them, but for OA1 being many years old it was top notch back then.

For vlogging I will recommend: Auto ISO 100-1600, Auto Shutterspeed 1/200-1/8000s, 1080p @ 30 fps with RS or RS+ if you want the extra stabilisation.

Congrats on getting a good camera. I will make a video about it very soon since many ask for it. It will be for OA4 but it will be the same for both cameras.

OA4 have very good stabilization but the older one is not bad for the time it came out and had to compete with gopro 7.

Watched your newest video, and did you record in normal color mode? The colors are a bit too saturated. When I do motovlogging with my other channels, I record in 4:3 ratio, 4K @ 60 fps, Auto ISO 100-1600, Shutterspeed 1/200 - 1/8000, normal color, sharpness 0, noise reduction -2. I record in 4:3 ratio and later crop in post since I can get some room for adjusting tilt if it's not good.

@@rjfotovideo i record in normal colour mode because i dont know how and dont want spend time in it. Im fine with the Standard colour. Why u not use noise reduction +1? It looks way better than -2. Im bloody beginner and cut Videos only as Hobby for friends and family.

I also record i normal colors, but in evening/night I record in D-LogM to get better ISO performance. I doesn't want any noise reduction added to give sharpest footage, and if it is noisy I remove it in editor.

Stumbled upon this video and agree with your views. I want to leave GoPro. Tried an Ace Pro and returned it. I've been underwhelmed with the Osmo A4 so far as the picture just looks flat/boring. I don't want to have to do things in post-editing. Did not do that with GoPro or Ace Pro. Hopefully can find some settings that work for me.

Sorry for late answer. I always shoot in ordinary Color mode when the light is good, but in low light I use D-Log M for best performance. The colors in ordinary Color mode is more than enough and doesn't need any editing after.

For street vlogging I can recommend record in 30 fps, 16:9 ratio, Auto ISO 100-1600, Sharpness -1 and Noise Reduction -2 as long as it is daylight/cloudy.

I use 5600K and Auto shutterspeed 1/200-1/8000s. As long as you keep shutterspeed above 1/200s then Rocksteady (stabilization) do work as its best.

I can recommend using 0 at sharpening and -2 noise reduction as long as you go in daylight. A bit of sharpening is needed so that's why I recommend it at 0. Also I can recommend recording at 4:3 ratio @ 60 fps for great footage, and crop in post to fit 16:9 ratio. It will also give you some playroom if not tilted in good angle. Maybe I should make a quick video about it.

Haven't found out yet, but I think they could have changed the clarity on 30 fps and below that they did add too much of in earlier firmware. I have a video about it to show the difference.

The sharpness is clearer now . Clearer lines . Enhanced right out of normal settings .

After this newest firmware? I plan to do a test when I find some snow to see difference at its best.

I bought the tripod some years ago and Fotopro is the brand if I remember right. The Hohem gimbal is really great, only wish they will release a new one that can shoot vertically too (not that I need it). OA4 is just an amazing camera, and now I can't wait to see what the next OA5 will have.

I did digital zoom in post, and you can zoom just a little without losing quality, and I did actually zoom too much here.

They have changed how sharpness work a few month ago, and from my quick test -1 on sharpness and -2 noise reduction do look good in good daylight (sun).

@rjfotovideo im just confused with everything, if you can help and make video for how to do different moods with best setting in the auto mood for day light and low light to make it easy for us this will be helpful

I will see what I can do. But since we have bright night here in the north now, low light shooting can be a challenge since everything is daylight bright

I will think +2 sharpness is too sharp, bug again +1 on noise reduction will reduce it a bit. But I think it is too sharp. So no other disadvantages. I do like noise better than blur footage, and I will not say it is a lot of noise here since it was cloudy and shot with not high ISO.

Thank you. In this I only used optical flow at the low end, but there is another option that will run it even smoother (they say) but I didn't test it out since it use so much resources.

I can't actually not answer that, but I can say that I doesn't regret selling my One RS Last year after I bought OA4.

I do reduce noise in post. I use Davinci Resolve and it have really good tools for fixing the sound. H1E and other cheaper sound recorders is not the best with the internal preamp, but it just need some fix in post for good sound. Be close to the sound for best quality. You tried it for field recording or other?

@@rjfotovideo I use it to make sound effects for games, recording ambience and direct sounds like footsteps, hits and other random stuff. I started with using smartphone for that, and thought getting a dedicated recorder will give me better sound

A dedicated recorder is really great for recording both ambience and direct sound. I have made some but still need to make more

@@rjfotovideo If your original footage is 120 fps but you want it at 30 fps, you can do this after stabilization. Use Gyroflow. In the Stabilization tab, adjust the FOV (Field Of View) slider to control zooming. For most cases, it should stay at 1.0. If you recorded in a VFR mode (e.g., 120 fps slowed down to 30 fps), edit the frame rate field to match the original frame rate (e.g., 119.88 fps). Gyroflow will handle the frame rate conversion automatically. You can drop it in your 30-fps timeline and have the benefit of capturing motion blur and also have better Gyroflow Stability due to the the higher shutter speed of 240 fps.

Totally agree, it has an incredible amount of little things that don't work quite as they should. We like to test everything possible for each firmware that comes out (mostly for fun). But apart from all those little things, it's an incredibly good camera that I don't regret having bought.

@@rjfotovideo It's all subjective to one's needs, this is a little jewel in many ways! I still use my original Osmo Action!

The first one, Osmo Action is really great and I still have mine and never regret buying it years ago. Only wish it was a bit sharper, but that can easily be fixed in post.

It is hard to say what the issue could be, but I will think you having problems with high contrast areas with sun and dark shadows. I record always in Auto and ISO 100-800. It is best to brighten shadows in post after if you seeing problems. And always have shutterspeed above 1/200s-

Gopro is good in daylight but I'm not a fan of how often gopro freeze up

Ah that's great. I think they have done most great with OA4 compared to OA3 regarding the sound input. But still hope for 32 bit float in next unit.

I can't really remember since I got it with an adapter I bought by error. Will buy another one if/when I find out. But it have TRS plug and around 1 meter cord and without battery.

I agree with you. With that much difference I think the viewer (atleast us creators) will see the difference a bit too often if we mix framerates now. 60 is a bit soft (in snow) but 30 and below have too much clarity.

@@rjfotovideo yes i think there is some over-sharpening going on in the new firmware, to my eyes on the new firmware -1 sharpness is looking like 0 sharpness.

It doesn't matter what settings you use, since you only want to re-encode the file to get rid of the metadata from davinci resolve. But I use highest bitrate with same fps and export as MP4 container.

I'm really sorry to hear that you have damaged your camera. It is actually strange that only the Rocksteady is not working, but probably because of some electronics. Gyroflow should work if you use Wide and shoot in 4:3 ratio and I think it was from 24 fps up to 60 fps. I have sometimes myself struggled to get it to work just because I didn't record in the right settings. But gyroflow on OA4 is not really that great, and often it will not work as we want since they use a different kind of gyro-stabilization (it seems like) than like those from Insta360 like Ace Pro, One RS etc. Have you tried reaching out to DJI about your camera and how much to fix it? Maybe you could get it under warranty if they find the door must be bad.

I reached out to DJI already but it's hard/takes long to get any service where I'm traveling right now. I'll have to solve this issue with DJI when I'm back in the US only in about a month. UPD: changed to 2.7/4:3 Wide angle, still doesn't find motion data...
