Mountain biking Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore, Ca
Del Valle Regional Park is located about 10 miles south of Livermore, Ca. Situated right at the bottom of the valley floor is a beautiful 5 mile long lake. There is over 30+ single track trail options, with fire roads linking everything together. I parked on Del Valle road, Which sits on top of the valley facing south. Parking is free and there is plenty of space you just have to park up on the shoulder. Like I mentioned in the video, there is camping options but it closes for the winter months, I recommend a biking/camping trip, it's a hoot. Lastly, please bring adequate water with you there is not a lot of shade and you will be climbing some steep fire roads! Most of these trails are on the intermediate side of things, you'll find some really steep sections with a decent amount of trail exposure in spots. Nothing overly technical but a great place for all skill levels to enjoy. Now get outside and ride your damn bike! Seriously, go!

Never Ending Flow | Mountain biking Tahoe Donner in Truckee, Ca
Переглядів 10 тис.9 місяців тому
Tahoe Donner is located in Truckee, Ca about 25 minutes from Lake Tahoe. The riding here is fast, epic and just downright fun. Most of the trails I rode were on the intermediate level, nothing too technical or gnarly. The two trails that really stood out to me were Glacier trail and Skislope. Blissful flow from start to finish with incredible views of Donner Lake and the surrounding mountains. ...
Martis Peak / Kings Beach | Mountain biking North Lake Tahoe, Ca

North Lake Tahoe offers a ton of world class mountain biking options, it can actually be a little overwhelming to choose what to ride. The obvious choice for many is to ride Northstar but it has recently shut down for the riding season. The route I did in this video linked 10 trails together, starting from Martis Peak all the way down to Grist Mill Loop East. Everything on this ride was at an i...

The Irish Hills Natural Reserve is located right outside of downtown SLO. It offers up about 8-10 miles of rocky, fast rolling single track. The loop is pretty easy to follow especially starting from where I did, linking onto King trail and working counter clockwise. I parked off Madonna road on DeVaul Ranch Dr, it's pretty easy to locate with plenty of parking options near a small park and the...

First and foremost, you can definitely shuttle up Horse Meadows fire road which is located off Luther Pass Road. I found the fire road to be moderately strenuous, it wasn't really that bad but the shuttle option is always nice. FYI there is a decent sized parking area up at the top! Hood Mountain is located in Santa Rosa, Ca right off highway 12, about 15 minutes northeast of Annadel State Park. Hood Mountain offers up a mix bag of steep fireroad climbs, winding fast single track and a few paved sections in the beginning. The Summit trail is the crown jewel of this experience. It's worth the climb all the way up, in my opinion. The views are incredible if it's not socked i...

Finally made the trek up to Tahoe and rode the famous Saxon Creek AKA Mr.Toads Wild Ride trail. It was definitely one of the hardest trails I've ever ridden, many double black features on this trail and certain spots are send it or walk...Choose wisely! the hardest features on Mr.Toads are in the beginning, lots of gnarly chunk that eventually opens up into some really good flow! I'm really happy to watch your videos. For many reasons but mainly because it was MY impression that Marin didn't allow single tracks on public lands and I'm amazed, but mostly happy to know that i was wrong. These look like really cool and sometimes challenging trails and you do a good job to represent these. Just curious, which GoPro do you use? Mine is the ancient 5 Black and as smooth as it is on a chin mount when I dirt bike, it's a stutter cam when I chest mount it for mountain biking.

    • @JakeSpeakman
      @JakeSpeakman Місяць тому

      Thanks!! I use a GoPro Hero 9, i recently upgraded to the max lens mod. My last video was recorded with it and i really liked it. It gives even better video stabilization and of course bigger field of view. I’ve never had any issues with my GoPro and I’ve always done chest mount. You might have to tweak your settings, the GoPro can be tricky to set up. Hope this helps 🤙

    Nice video. I raced that course once back in the later 90's and really liked it. Then rode it again for the first time since a couple of weeks ago. It is a very fun and at times challenging loop. I really enjoyed it and I enjoyed your video. I do have one question though. Well two actually. Those rock gardens. 1) Why didn't you should the parts where it was all rock with the drop offs? Those would have been pretty cool to see. 2) Why are they your favorite part of the trail when it appears you do everything you can to avoid riding over the rocks? It's not an insult, you ride really well, but it seemed like an odd statement compared to what you showed riding them.

    • @JakeSpeakman
      @JakeSpeakman 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching. I’ve always enjoyed riding through chunky rock gardens, sometimes it’s the GoPro effect that makes things look less gnarly. Also, it was probably how i rode at that time ( this video is almost 3 years old) i would probably ride a lot different now.

    Hey man, really appreciate the video and been digging your content a lot lately. This was on my TO-DO list for North Bay rides, so I decided to give it a go today. Honestly, was overall pretty disappointed. I took a hard left (instead of sensibly following your right turn onto Quarry) off the parking lot start, and immediately regretted the next 30 minutes spent hike-a-biking along Tilly. I eventually somehow ended up finding the small and large ponds, but the rest of my session was pretty underwhelming. A lot of it was spent walking my bike either up or down sections I had stumbled upon (since I was left poking around trying to find the more popular trails without a real map to follow). I've honestly enjoyed basically all the other parks I've tried (and have done most in the greater Bay Area), but this was the only place that comes to mind where left feeling like I'd recommend passing it up for other better rides in the area (unless you are either located very closeby or are riding with friend(s) that know the park very well and can sherpa the most enjoyable path through it). Maybe I'm also not advanced enough (would classify myself as a solid intermediate) - although I haven't found myself struggling this much in a new place before. Anyways - on a more positive note - hope you are still riding and are able to make more content soon! ✌

    Jake, can you recommend what are the best beginner trails at Del Valle? All the videos make Del Valle look like a blast, but, for instance, I was watching a video earlier on Chutes & Splatters and the guy was saying, while it looked easy, the descents were a lot steeper than the video made them look. So, for someone starting who might be white-knuckling a bit, what trails would you recommend to have fun, learn but also not take on too much risk to life & limb (hey, I know that the risk is part of what makes it fun, but trying to keep it within reason for the skill level). TIA.

      Hey Tony, thanks for reaching out. I understand trail ratings are subjective but i found Del Valle to be a bit more on the mellow side.
