Reloading 40 .cal with a Lee Turret Press
A Front-to-back look at reloading 40 caliber cartridges. Also in the video I show decapping the primer prior to lube and that is incorrect. I always lube prior to going into the dies.

Thank you! Pretty sure my instructions were thrown out with the packaging. This helped. 👍

Glad I found your vid and didn't give up on the McFadden. Got it tuned now and it loads like butter. One additional comment, don't squeeze 100 rounds into the hopper. 50 is what the instructions say. You can do 100 but the rounds will interfere with loading the channel. It's not such a big deal, just saying....

If the case is wrinkling you didn't ck case length? Use case trimmer.

Just got one (12 years later). Adj. a little at a time and it works great. I used Rim oil on a Q-tip and lightly coated the slide in side. Thanks for the video. I just got a Hunter MK4!!

I lubed it up with some wd40 silicone spray since it’s all gumed up with wax. Now slides into mag super easily but Is it safe to shoot?

What could be wrong with a turret I bought a extra for a different caliber and it won't function. Everything looks the same but it stops turning in the press . The original turret works fine . They look the same visually

That square piece will last a long time the mistake people make is that the ram must be all the way up to make adjustments or else you will strip the square piece out. You should not lube that rod. Adjusting indexing is accomplished by using a 1/4 inch wrench.

  • @jakewayrewa5201
    @jakewayrewa5201 Рік тому

Your indexing rod looks to have a metal square top that fits into the turret to make it turn. Is that a stock part? My brand new press has that part made with the same black plastic as the little bushing you're talking about. My problem is that plastic square on the rod doesn't want to stay in place.

I just got this same model from a guy off marketplace for free and am really wanting a pistol shelf/rack that holds them up right with the coated barrel wire mount point. This video gave me some great ideas and appreciate you sharing. Also loved the tip on spraying screws. Thanks

Thanks for the video! This is the first time I have seen it. I have one of the loaders, and quit using it out of frustration. l am going to dig it and the instructions out, and try to use it again. But...one question...I have been told for more than 60 years; DON"T LUBE YOUR CARTRIDGES! BAAAAD Things will happen! Have you experienced any adverse effects from using lube on the loader or cartridges? Would a dry lube be better, do you think?

This came up on a search for an SR22 loader, but I do not think this will work with an SR22 magazine. My source is the McFadden website.

I dialed in the 11th bullet problem. I used Ballistol, not Rem lube a week before shoot and almost all of the bullets didn't fire. Must have soaked into the crimp between the bullet and the bullet case. I think I'd rather go it dry from here on out. Just "HOLD LEVEL" and if it gets a little jammed, just a little shake and a slight pump. No problem.

We make awesome accessories (scope stand offs, and barrel rests for shorter guns) & door organizers for these cabinets. I think you'll love how they improve the storage by leveraging the space in the door (you left un-used) for things like magazines, shotgun shells, and handguns (etc): www.badgerridgeind.com/store/c25/Accessories_for_STACK-ON_gun_cabinets.html

Thanks for the video! I have a Buckmark Hunter showing up in 2 days. I've already got the loader, 2 clips, and a pile of ammo to play with. Your video really clears up some things. Mine out of the box was "Load 9, drop 1". I backed the screw out a few turns and now it is perfect. TYVM Sir.

Great video. One more thing, if you insert a loaded magazine there should be about 1/16" of movement of the follower for proper adjustment of the screw.

I keep my indexing rod llghtly lubed and always raise the ram when removing turret. 9k rounds loaded with many turret swapping and still on original plastic indexing piece. Removing turret and rod with ram lowered will damage that piece.

Thank you for doing an awesome video for our Ultimate Cliploader. They can be purchased on our website, our name has 2 d's, but our website only has 1 d. Just google mcfaden.com, we also have the Lightnin' Grip Loader, which is an adaptable loader that uses adapters for the various 22lr magazines.

When I wiped off all of the wax from my 22s, the bullets fell into the magazine just like in the video. But when I first tired to use the loader, before I removed the wax, I had to shake it to get the cartridges to move. So, use Remington gun oil if you don't want to remove the wax.

Great video and what appears to be a easy loader but I am actually trying to slow down the loading process. I have a speed loader that simply fits over the clip and holds the spring down while I drop bullets in one at a time. Even with this set up I can over heat the barrel and lose accuracy.
