Syntheyes, Blender and Resolve Fusion - UnDistorted Workflow
Переглядів 1,7 тис.Місяць тому
In this video we look at how to properly setup a lens distortion workflow between Syntheyes, Blender and DaVinci Resolve Fusion so that everything will match up perfectly. We start in Syntheyes to do the 3D Tracking where we will set everything up for an undistorted workflow. Next we head over to Blender where we will open up the exported python script with our camera and 3D objects. We will se...

    Hello sir, thank you so much for your hard work with your tutorials. Both you and MiesnerMedia (only two DaVinci Resolve educators I could find, when using the search term: *copy paste paint strokes*). are advertising a tutorial for tracking and stamping paint strokes but neither one of you discuss how to edit each frame independently after tracking. So what I want to do, is go through frame by frame and edit the paint stroke that has been tracked. Please tell us how to do that. I'm asking you this question specifically since MiesnerMedia is not responding to the comments from his tutorial regarding the same exact subject. No matter what you teach or how much I can understand, I will always give you props for responding to the comments below your UA-cam videos. you rock sir! Thank you so much!

    Thanks for the tutorial Brian, one critical thing to mention is that if you start your animation in the fusion clip with Camera tracking at say frame 3000 like I did you will need to offset your imported animation into UE or Blender to frame zero in order to see the tracked camera animation you created in Fusion line up. Nearly thought Fusion FBX exporter was broken till I realized this haha.

    Great tutorial! Thanks so much! I've got a problem though: When I append the track with a different region my corner pin jumps to the location of the tracked area instead of staying in place... any idea how to fix this?

    • @prophetless

      Sounds like you might be appending the reference frame. If you do that it will move the corner pin. If you append the spline to track on any other frame it will center to the reference frame.

    Actually…different question. If you’re doing something frame by frame, where would you go to like copy a specific set of strokes for consistency? It’s not something that can be tracked unfortunately

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless 16 днів тому

      I might need a little more information on what you are trying to do but let me know if this answers your question. If you are using the stroke tool you can select whatever stroke you want and edit them independently, change the duration and even use a tracker if you want. If you use the Multistroke tool you have less options, because it acts as a group.

    1:02:44 why did you use a lensdistortion node twice?

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless 21 день тому

      The lens distortion at the beginning of the script is to un-distort the image so we can see things correctly in the 3D view and the one at the end, before we merge back over the original clip is to distort our 3d objects to match the lens distortion of the original clip. Here is another video that might explain it a little better starting around the 2:30 mark: ua-cam.com/video/6AeNYVwfx5U/v-deo.html

    What if you would like to add a second patch to a spot close in proximity to the first one, but with a completely different colour and pattern? Where would the second polygon and second paint node go in relation to everything? I am guessing if you make further cuts to the earlier clips in the video you would have to change the frame number in the time stretcher too, right? I appreciate this tutorial.

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless 29 днів тому

      Thanks! This is just one approach. If you wanted to do a second paint you could copy (from the time stretcher to the planar tracker) and just use another branch from the original clip, as long as the tracking works for the area you want to do the second patch. And merge it before or after the other patch.

    • @CookingJJ
      @CookingJJ 29 днів тому

      @@prophetless Thanks. I tried to copy process after tracking the second area; however, the paint clone was not functioning - nothing was being drawn on. At least I managed to do the first patch.

    • @prophetless

    Thanks for this video!!! I'm curious about the purpose of this whole workflow. Why do we undistort footage and then distort it back when 3d camera tracking? Also, the tracking looks amazing, can I achieve it without syntheses? because I don't own a copy. And what about Stmaps? Can I create it inside Fusion? I would appreciate it if you could explain this to completely beginners.

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless Місяць тому

      You're welcome! I might do a video on this but let me try. Basically when you shoot video with a real world camera the lens on the camera adds distortion to your image. When working in 3D space(CGI) the software, by default, creates perfectly straight objects. In order to merge them together so it looks like it was shot in real life we need to un-distort the real world image to match the 3d space(which is perfectly straight) then render out our 3d image and re-distort them to match the same lens curvature as the real world camera. As far as the other questions Yes and Yes. The Camera Tracker in Fusion is pretty good and it does lens distortion. Check out this video for more on the process: ua-cam.com/video/Nin66hrSy9c/v-deo.html

      I did multiple times. Your question is too vague. If there is something more specific let me know.

    Absolutely amazing thank you SO MUCH. A video on using 360 hdri images as lighting for the unreal objects and exporting out would be sooo good ;)

      @@prophetless fantastic! the fact that adobe can be fully removed from the pipeline is amazing and this helps so much. currently working on a shot now and just figuring out how to export only the CG add ins ( not including the image plate) for compositing in DR

      @@prophetless interesting issue, i've got my cg ships and exported from UE as EXR with alpha BUT when i bring into Davinci it comes with all the black detail ( in my instance tie fighter wings) transparent too. any clue?

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless Місяць тому

      Sounds like a color space issue and you are not multiplying your alpha
