This is incredible!! I am so impressed by your talent. I have never worked with leather but I’m so inspired. Thank you so much for sharing the pattern. I may try it with cloth first for my daughter’s Halloween costume but some day hope to make this out of leather. It’s gorgeous! Thank you for your hard work and for sharing!!
Very nice! Many years ago, after I was able to get a good look at the backpack Bilbo was wearing in the movie, I made one very similar. I tooled, stamped and stitched the leaf motifs in place and incorporated all sorts of pockets on the inside of the bag. Made three small sterling silver buckles for the front and side pockets. So nice to see another's work on such a beautiful bag!
Thank you. I will never make this, but love that you put the time and effort to create this. My favorite part is that you then share it in such detail. I am amazed
Absolutely beautiful! I want to make a leather & canvas backpack at some point, but I would need more tools in order to achieve your neatness and quality.
I would definitely recommend having some leatherwork experience before attempting this one. Particularly experience hand-stitching leather. Sewing the sides to the body is tricky. Any sewing experience would help but leather is a very different beast from fabric. Buying already dyed leather eliminates some of the required skills.
I used fiebings pro dye in buckskin. The color of the main pack is not typical of that dye but every hide accepts dye differently. I used the same dye for the straps as well and I'd say that's typically what that buckskin dye comes out as.
This is beautiful

Do you think it would be accessible in term of difficulties for someone who does not have any experience in leatherwork ?
Thanks
