HOA On Me About This: Did I Wait Too Long Probably!
The Titan solo stove cook rings perfectly fit on the Mesa, the old one size up from the Titan fits the Mesa XL, but I forgot the name. They are only ONE DOLLAR right now from the Solo stove website since the two original models are no longer made.
That is great info, thank you for sharing!
Thank you.. your streams are great
Thank you!
Not exactly as it shows in the video. Can see the wood pile sticking up above secondary burning holes . It most be smoke in this case
You should watch to the longform video if you skeptical
Liked and subbed. Just got the pellet insert for my Solo Stove Campfire. Haven’t tried it yet. 40 lb bag was $8 at the wood stove store 3 minutes from me 😃
Awesome, I hope you enjoy it! Thank you for the support!
You can also use cooking trivets once the fire is calm and cook on these firepits. :)
Thank you for the info
I would suggest putting a little cast iron skillet or griddle on top of the heat deflector. The thermal mass of the cast iron should really radiate more heat, especially after it heats up to maximum, plus you can cook on it! You could also put a thermolelectric "stove fan" in the cast iron to blow hot air on you.
Thank you,I’m a bit slow 😂, I needed step by step in detail to understand, the plans awesome video👍
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching
Amazing👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I don’t know about the East Oak, as he only demonstrated pellets but the Mesa XL will also take firewood, twigs, pine cones, it doesn’t look like East Oak will do that with that center piece. I use Weber chunks in my Mesa XL
The centerpiece is optional and it does burn wood chunks twigs pinecones whatever you want. I do a video on testing wood versus pellets in the East Oak and the Mesa XL you should watch it Link here Wood vs. Pellets: What Burns BEST In Tabletop Fire Pits? ua-cam.com/video/NYjEB1piPQ8/v-deo.html
Quedo hermosa! Ojo tiene que usar anteojos para hacer agujeros ene l metal al igual una mascarilla para nos respirar particulas o que alguna de ellas se proyecta directamente a tu retina prevenir un accidente innecesario es vital
Is The Mesa About The Same Size As The Solo Stove Campfire ?? Sure Looks Pretty Close If Not.
Not sure I don’t have a campfire
Would you recommend hardwood over softwood pellets? I just bought a Mesa XL on Black Friday have havent been able to decide what to use to burn for s’mores
I recommend the hardwood and if you do use pellets, just make sure they’re cooking pellets if you’re thinking about cooking s’mores
when you refuel with pellets, how long until the next refueling? is it the same burn time?
Each cup extended about 5 to 10 minutes when refueling
Sorry if you’re not monitoring comments to answer questions - my main question would actually be if the area that is warmed is extended by the deflector. Meaning, I dont actually care that much about the exact temp, but I care more if the usable area of warmth is significantly enlarged, ie, the noticeably warm area expands from a 2 ft radius to 3 or 4 feet. Any observations?
It extends it may be a foot, but it really to me it is more directing the heat out instead of up, so it’s more intense heat towards you.
curious if you put the same amount of pellets into each firepit? Would also be curious about how much ash/leftovers each model had. Good video, thank you
The solo Stove Mesa XL holds about 2.2 pounds of pellets the cheaper one holds 2 pounds not much of a difference between them. The East Oak holds 2.75 pounds of pellets with air column installed more without. After all said and done and completely burned out not to much ash left.
Super 👌
Appreciate it!
I have the 21 in camber and i love it. I like the square design and it can fit larger logs when placed in diagnally. Burns great
It’s a good fire pit. I can’t disagree.
I really like the East Oak fire pit, if only there was a cooking grate that fit it. The price is right, but not for grilling. I have to keep looking.
Yeah, that is a big thing missing for sure.
Loved your kids reaction.
They love it thank you for your comment
I like how you do the reviews. My favorite would be the Solo stove but feel like Solo is nichel and diming me to death. Solo bonfire 2 stove with bottom stand, grilling setup, and spark control lid is way too much money. Grilling is an important feature to have. Have to look at other brands.
Thank you. Yeah, Solo Stove doesn’t play around with the cost there add on are expensive for sure.
Been there…
I’m in England and don’t have this same variety of stoves available, but I own a few Solo mesas and a Bonfire 2.0. Your videos pop up in my feed and I watch them all because you’re such a personable, unpretentious bloke, and I love how you let your kids get involved and have some part in the process. 👍🏻
Thank you for watching. They are great helpers
those things could be dangerous
Yes you need to be careful fire can be dangerous
Burning table top? Been there done that. If you buy a paving stone at Lowe's, you can put the paving stone on the table and your stove on the stone. Works for cheap Chinese gasification backpacking stoves which allow ash to fall through! Could also use an old pot turned upside down... Many possibilities!
Oops, I should have read comments below!
Yep I had a brain fart lol thanks for the comment
I have many brain farts! The space of time between each gets shorter and shorter!
The build quality of cheaper product product doesnt look poor to me, looks its poor design contributing to its wobbliness and not poor materials. Solo stove product looks like its made from flimsy material but its probably not cheap because it looks like its stainless steel and brushed which doesnt come cheap but the design is very visually appealing, which also makes it sturdy too. But these heat deflectors should also be judged on how much heat they are deflecting, i think the 4 walled design of cheaper product is very good for absorbing the heat from flame instead of letting flame heat the air which blows away. the four walls absorb heat and then slowly emit it which should probably work better than solo stove design which doesnt have as much thermal mass and most of it is concentrated in that ring uptop.
Also included in build quality would be the design and the way it holds together. Being that part of the cheap one is terrible makes it dangerous and the performance was close after 10 minute mark.
Great job! Looks like the kids are having a blast with your project. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you the kids love to help
Isnt mulch a fire hazard?
There are lots of fire hazard
This is so simple that I understand it
Awesome
I have the 21” Camber black one. Be careful burning on the deck I used it 3 days straight last week during Thanksgiving it torched the grass underneath and charred it black. It’s also not a full 21” at the top some logs I bought from a firewood place don’t fit in completely. But overall I’m pleased and it puts out a lot of heat at 4’ away with 8 people around it.
I love the fact that you were not sponsored by either Solo Stove or East Oak. It makes your review unbiased, truthful, and sincere. Thanks for the video!
No problem thank you so much!
Keep in mind to never use heating pellets for any kind of cooking, need cooking pellets for that which are much much more expensive. Being said, always use real wood myself.
I use cooking pellets in the videos and yes they are more expensive.
Why? Aren’t pellets just compressed wood?
@BingWatcher Usually lower grade woods, splinters and sawdust which are compacted. It also produces lower quality smoke flavor etc. The convenience comes at a cost
In stick between the mesa XL and the east oak and I want to get one for when me and the fam are outside for the holidays and it’s chilly so Which one would you say has a better heat radius?
The east oak it about 3 feet
I have the Mesa XL his review did not mention the Solo MesaXL can run on both pellets and wood/twigs. You can mix them up too. I bought the heat deflector $39 for my MesaXL and it throws quite a bit of heat out.
For anyone with the east oak tabletop firepit I just ordered me one since they are on sale for Black Friday but has anyone found a way to deflect heat to the sides? I’ve seen video and they say the heat radius is about 3 feet and obviously all the heat is going up
I have both fire pits as well. One thing you didn’t mention is how easy the fuoco is to clean, when removing the ash. Hands down the Fuoco is 10 times easier for me… just dump and give it a little shake…… done!!
You’re right, that’s a good point. I agree with you it is much easier when it comes time to dump the ash.
Voking talking 👎🤮🤮🤮🤮
Why you american talk 2 much 👎👎👎👎🤮🤮🤮eshol
Thank you for this video, I was wondering, I have the 21 inch Camber, I bought it on sale about a month before the Fuoco came out so that will be my fire pit but I was kind of bumming when they came out with something new and improved shortly after my purchase, luckily I only paid 20 more dollars than what they're charging for the new Fuoco at the time, I'm further shocked that right now they're only $130 on sale, at first I also did buy the 17 inch camber actually returned it after using it to Amazon and they took it back and I exchanged it for the 21 inch, 17 is way too small and you could not fit a standard size log that you would buy at say a tractor supply store, I was having to cut split logs in half to fit them in the 17, I use a combination of kiln dried logs and wood pellets
Oh man that sucks. I’m sorry about that. Yeah, in this video I noticed the 21 inch is a way better option for log size. I also looked up camber this morning to check if the price has changed and it looks like they got a black Friday deal going on it 52% off list price. when I filmed this video it was not on sale.
Can i use mulch instead??
Never tried it but something to look into. Thanks for the idea.
I think that it depends on what the person is wanting, if they are wanting the fire pit for warmth then the higher the temperature of the outside of the pit the more heat will will put out in general which might be better.
True, I just really want to see how hot it gets on the outside of the Solo Stove Ranger because, in the last video, I wasn’t getting a good reading due to its reflective surface.
I have a generic solo bonfire. All the accessories fit on it. And they are also off brands.
Thats great!
The Mesa XL version is currently $39.99... Personality i look at the difference on temps from start to 10 min individually. Doing this the Solo did slightly better. Its sooo close though i think it comes down to the build quality. Thanks for the vid
No problem thank you
Are they meant to be filled like that? If you run wood you can’t do that. I think they went out cause you suffocated them
Yes, they are meant to be filled to the bottom of the top holes. They weren’t suffocated nothing but ash left. You should watch my video on wood vs pellets. Here’s the link Wood vs. Pellets: What Burns BEST In Tabletop Fire Pits? ua-cam.com/video/NYjEB1piPQ8/v-deo.html
You left the insert out of the cheaper model. Curious how that affects the test
Might want to look at getting the Fuel Pellets from rural king and save some of the funding you use for the Camp Chef pellets. 5.50 for 40lbs is a bargain for the fuel pellets.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check that out!
I would never admit to buying wood on Amazon 😂
ok thanks Tony I have not lost any sleep over it.
Will the XL cooktop fit on the Walmart stove if you take off the top that comes with it?
No, I just tried it and it’s just a little too big for the Walmart stove.
@@Homedadgriff Well, it was worth a shot. Thanks for checking and for the reply.
Great video. I have an East Oak and can't wait to use it.
Thank you! Let me know what you think.
I follow you instructions and your plans and my fire pit work great, thank you
I'm so happy to hear it! No problem
You should secure the cheaper one to make it more sturdy then compare again!
I think it has to stand on its own merit without help; otherwise, it wouldn't be a true comparison.
That’s awesome dude. Could you maybe give a supply list? I’m not gunna step on your toes and make videos I’m just on a budget and don’t want to buy another fire pit like the one you tossed and have it rust out and break again.
