Stock Exhaust Versus Aftermarket: Which Sounds Better?
A few years ago was at the all Harley Drags in Bunker Hill Indiana when Happy Ring lost his nitro bike during a run ,hit guard rail and ended up against the wall and when he got up and ran to his bike to see if it was alright couldn't believe my eyes but that's when i started wearing a helmet ALWAYS after seeing how the helmet looked in the pits later that night and he raced Sunday in more races
Hi, what was the name of the identical suit he had on? Very impressed on how the suit handled the crash. Regards, Tony
When I hit a young deer at 50, all I could think about was not going down because I had just painted it Black Cherry Pearl 2 weeks earlier. I was able to save it, but the deer didn't make it. I got SO lucky.
Say all the crap you want to justify these actions. Dopes should not have been going 100 mph. So whatever injuries your friend sustained are on him and his wrecklessness as well as yours and the other person.
he was speeding. insurance has a case.
2:02 moment of impact.
Which software do you use for the info overlay at 7:17? That's really nice and impressive
You have no right to drive that fast on a public road. Other people deserve to be safe on a public highway. You almost cut the deer in half, what do you think would have happened to a small car or a bicyclist etc. You have no right.
The magazine was in your dentist's office, it was called "Highlights." ;-)
"You don't commit to an apex until you see your exit point..." Superbly said sir, and the late apex entry line facilitates that on the street much better in all regards. Good commentary.
Brother, no judgement for riding a bit faster, and please, no judgement for those of us that ride a bit slower on Harleys etc. and less gear. We all ride, it's a love we share and it's a risk we all accept. I am glad your buddy didn't get hurt worse and I hope the insurance company steps up. I live in Tennessee now, deer everywhere, but crazy enough the one I almost hit was in Oakhurst after leaving Yosemite at high noon, missed it by an inch. Heading out to Myrtle Beach from N/E Tennessee om Thursday, we were spared the brunt of Helena, let's all pray for those that weren't so fortunate. Ride safe my friends.
Why are you going 100 mph on a public road? You are a menace and should be brought up on charges for killing wildlife. I feel sorry for the deer. Slow the fuck down!
Just over a month ago I hit a 200 lb buck on my Harley Electraglide at 55 mph. Totaled my bike and hurt my leg pretty bad. The deer slammed my leg up against my air cleaner puncturing an artery in my calf... No helmet. However, my leather armored vest and gloves saved me a whole lot of road rash... Slid on my back headfirst like a hockeypuck over 100 yards. Thank god it happened on the only straightaway on C.R. 80 in Ohio... Traumatizing event. Insurance already paid me for my bike and I bought a 2013 roadglide..Still working on insurance to pay my medical bills...No longer riding in the country after dark...
My one and only bike so far is an '83 CX650 custom... It has one small disc on the front and rear drums. The front brake has hardly any power, I still need to modernize the front. I almost exclusively use the rear brake, i add in a lil front, but only because the front has a lil to offer. The rear does like the lock up, but it honestly feels very in control in that situation. If i lock the front wheel, i feel like that's dumping it every time. I also just need new tires too, but the rear is all I've got, these 80's bikes have no braking power lol. I just make sure to not enter corners with too much sauce. Its more fun to row through gears coming out of a corner at lower speed anyways
thats free deer meat for everyone
i had a 1290 ktm super duke r.i smashed it at 143 mph it was real bad
Holy ×%÷×. That's all I can say.
Hit a large jackrabbit, back in the days, made my motorcycle sway a little left and right..In the blink of an eye it happened..
Up near Stanley Idaho at certain times of the year you can be going through the twisties and you'll have heard of elk that are sitting and laying in the road. But this isn't about that. I know a guy that about 20 years ago he came around a corner in the Idaho mountains on highway 21 he hit a mother bear and her cub with his Harley he hit the Cub first and then the mother and it completely stopped his bike and stopped him too he was fvcked up pretty bad the mother bear was still alive and she was coming after him he was able to drag himself away before she either died or just laid there in the road . But she was coming after him he was taken to a hospital.
Probably one my biggest fears. To get to school I have the option of two back roads, both of which have deer crossings on them, both about three klicks long(a little short of two miles). Never seen a deer, but the roads are travelled by school and work commuters in boxes. I just hope for the best going through the areas.
Riding a bike is not for the foolish I guess, I bet this has happen to other unaware humans.
This was my biggest fear while riding. Until the semi-truck turned left in front of me and we had a head-on.
So, be it??? How about don't diminish the fact that this rider was going way over the speed limit and that is why insurance is balking at the claim, and rightful so. I have no sympathy for this rider.
I took an elk at 65mph. I wore full leathers that had a small amount of padding. It was dark on a less populated road. My right hip was dislocated. My hand had lacerations from where my watch with the old twist o flex band, and my wedding band, was ripped from my hands with the glove. My bell moto 3 was damaged. I stood on the pegs at the last second and tucked my head and rolled. You could see the roll marks on my helmet and jacket. My bike was totaled, but I had to pull the front fender out from the front tire, and twist the front end back enough to ride. I reinstall the battery and road the 1&1/2 mile back home and went to bed. When I woke up I found I couldn’t walk so I dialed 911, only to find all I had was a dislocated hip, that they popped back in, then I was released!
That’s 1.5 hours, not 1.5 miles!
insurance company finds this video of the admittance of illegal speed. could screw over your friend-- give an update
Just want to throw this theory out there instead of the usual "Don't drive so fast" remark - perhaps the extra speed actually helped save his life. 1) It disintegrated the deer on impact which helped dissipate the bones and tissue. 2) The extra speed helped to catapult the rider up and over the handle bars faster and higher which separated him from the collision instead of getting entangled in the wreck.
Brainiacs...
Thank you for sharing lessons learned and the great reminder of the dangers of hitting deer. I will take all of this information to heart. I may even use this video as an excuse to buy a fancy leather jacket I have been eyeing.
I absolutely loved riding but gave it up after going to two funerals in a year when I was 56. One rider was driving the speed limit and driving safely however, someone turned left into him. It’s not always how you drive but how someone else drives. I’m 66 now and have had grandchildren I might have missed if I kept riding.
This guy is all worried about his friend, but no one is talking about "what if we hit a car?". That speed could put another person at risk. Smh
How about Slowing Down.. Luck was with you..
I've hit 2 deer. The guy that picked me up after the second one, to drive me into town, had hit 10. After hearing that I knew this was a way more common occurrence than people realized.
O deer.
Can you imagine if that was someone? Or a granny crossing?
Utah, Colorado deer heavy highways.
So glad you guys are okay and the Good Samaritan got some free meat. Seriously, his gear . . . It’s SO important and I see so many riders with very little to no protective gear, not even a helmet. I have no criticisms. I’m glad you guys are okay. I like the way you broke this down. It’s a good reminder since we’re coming into dear season. Stay Safe and enjoy the rides where you can safely open up! ♥
Bro! The stuff nightmares are made of!
Just yesterday rode the scariest rain riding on the interstate ive ever done. I thank God I'm still alive and unhurt. It really sucked. Glad your friend is alive too.
Hey man ride safely henceforth and do not race too much.
Why were you going 100mph?
That don't look like the kind of Road you would want to drive 100 mph on anything
Really the criticism is deserved well it was your own damn fault not the dears and I’m sure you already know this that it was your fault, but in my opinion, it was your stupidity to do that on a regular road instead of a racetrack
As a rider of 47 years this guy was reckless. The deer could of easily been a hiker or bicyclist. Most modern bikes have computers that an accident reconstruction officer can download from. It records speed, braking etc, if you listen real closely after you shut iff your bike sometimes you can hear what sounds like a faint modem sound. If he was doing the limit and fully engaged scanning the road and sides ahead he may very well have seen the deer ahead. By staying fully engaged and not riding recklessly you can reduce your chances of an unwelcome encounter with wildlife & pedestrians. Also encounters with drivers that dont see you.
Why do deers always ending up choosing the bad timing when crossing the road 😡? Seriously!! Are they blind or what, what are the odds? It could've crossed that roads at different time window. it just so happened to be precisely the one the biker showed up at
Very fortunate the downhill car that showed up moments later wasn't flying along at a "brisk speed"
Did you eat it ...?
More importantly, be thankful that an on-coming car wasn’t part of the equation.
If you say you ride and roast these guys for goin, fast you are just manufacturing outrage to troll and lying. I like ridin HD's because they don't go that fast and I have less of a chance of killing myself. If the bike I'm riding will do 150, I will probably be going that fast at some point in the ride. These morons riding in shorts slippers and a t-shirt will eventually be cured after their first case of road rash. I was at a party only about a mile away from my house. I had been out riding my 250 Yamaha in the woods before, and had put on some short and a shirt and no shoes. The ol lady and kids drove back to the house and I was gonna ride the bike home...only around a mile on gravel. Coming out of my bros house you come to a straight part for about a half a mile. So naturally I open her up like I had 100 times before. Wind feels great in the warn evening and right when I hit about 50, big Doe pops out of the bushes and I T-bone her. Down I go in the 3/4 minus gravel sliding on my right side. Deer just gets up and runs off into the woods like nothing happened. My upper torso and face cushioned the blow for her. I have always preached the same aboout riding protected, and now my whole right side looked like hamburger. Adrenalin was flowing so it don't hurt too bad...yet... I pick up the scooter, front forks and handlebars are bent a bit, but she fires right up and home I go, very slowly. I have slid on the road and had it go through 2 pairs of levis and thermals.
Deer always have the right of way.
Get yourself a onewheel and have fun going. 8. Mph. Motorcycles are suicide.
