My channel is here to capture my workshop antics and all the things I get up to. From Plasma cutting and TIG welding to all things bikes and cars. As an Engineer by profession, I take interest in everything mechanical and electrical and try to capture that within my videos. Follow along to see what projects come through the door. I hope you enjoy watching these videos as much as I enjoy making them !

Adding a Light Bar to my Prusa MINI
That’s tough man, I’d touch it up. 99% of people won’t see it.
I absolutely understand that feeling, had just got done painting forks, tank, and side cover for my 1974 Z50. The next day went to put the forks onto the frame and flipped the frame over to put the ball bearings into the bottom of the neck and forgot that I loosely put the rear axle into the swingarm (not sure why I put it in place not secured) and the axle slid out and landed right on the fork! Luckily it made a perfect circle that almost looks like a spot weld haha. Its a gutting feeling but it always happens when we are the most careful! I agree with others in the comments and think its just part of the craft! Bike looks amazing, you are doing a fantastic job!
As time passes I feel better about it haha. Sounds like the pain you went through was similar to this. Very much thinking about touching it in and having it as a battle scar on the bike. Thanks for the comments and glad you like the bike, much appreciated.
Awesome job
Thank you, glad you like it!
Personally i would see if i could get the scratch blown in as the standard oc the bike is so high and mint , if it was my 89 bike i could leave it.
Appreciate the feedback, this is what I am leaning towards....a painful process going back to the painters again! 😁
Looks great , these Kitaco 88,s are great I ran one with a 108 kitaco crank, now I'm running it with Takagawa 88 r . Great fun to ride and that's the whole piont
That is great to hear. I cant wait to get mine out on the road and enjoy the bike. I bet it goes well with the 108 kitaco crank!
You’re not alone. I recently finished my red 1970 CT70 and did the EXACT same thing. Was gutted. Can be touched up though, and it’s not in a highly visible spot. Damn that spring.
Thanks for the comment. I have taken comfort in hearing from different people that I am not the only one. Such a horrible feeling, especially after all the hours making it as good as you can. Its made me love and hate the restoration process at the same time. Oh to have it as a banger and not care about scratches !😅How did you go about repairing yours ?
Where you getting all your parts from btw
Bens bikes racing or shire bikes if your in the uk
Hey, most parts are from Shire bikes, CMSNL, Bens bikes, Bart moto & the odd part from Phat Mx! hope that helps.
I don't think I could live with the scratch after all that work, can you not get the painter to sort it out/blow over it?
I am still finding it difficult to look at which may push me to get it fixed properly!
the scratches are unfortunate but i would touch it in and says it adds character to the bike. Still looks great 🤠
a reminder of my mistake haha ! It may haunt me if I leave it but It would certainly be a lot easier, thanks for the feedback!
Point gap mm sho me
When's your next episode, mate?
Had a few hold ups and I'm at the end of a house renovation which has been taking all my time up. Hoping for a video finishing it off this month! thanks for watching
What website would you recommend for parts?
Shire bikes or CMSNL !
You put the copper washer on the wrong head stud, besides that good job😀
Thanks for then information, there is always something!
Молодцы !!! Супер.
Hi, did you use the standard prusa sicer Profiles?
@@kitebabe05 yes, standard profiles!
nice, i will try it too, thank you for sharing
How much would you charge for a rebuild of the same engine
@@jamesbeard5702 Hi James, Unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to offer a rebuild. I can recommend a good friend who runs a monkey bike restoration company. Its called ‘two wheel restoration’ www.monkeybikerepairs.co.uk He is an expert in all things honda. Has rebuilt hundreds of the engine and would be the best person to speak with!
Great set of Videos. What was the US company for the repro tail light holder? A full list of parts suppliers would be handy as I am doing one for a mate.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the videos, suppliers below: - TB parts (tail light bracket) - Shire Bikes UK - CMSNL Netherlands
@@MasonsWorkshop Cheers!! :)
it was a pristine untouched 69..worth a lot before any tools hitted it , Restoring a ST50 but the engine have been worked on with wrong tools
@@kendexter to some maybe, worth more to me, restored, enjoyed and being ridden! 😀
Love it. just started on my Gold 1974 ST50 DAX, found me an old CT svingarm in new condition exactly like yours, even same blue color as yours and a plate welded instead of box in the U ,builds a few cm wider than on the ST , planning for a wider trail tire _= as i live ..not in the city nor a village
@@kendexter brilliant, love to hear it! Best of luck with the build
Hi, Are the new wheels OEM? I’ve got a few questions if you could share your email I’m about to start on a similar rebuild! Thanks
Hey there, sure thing! --> mason.bennett@hotmail.com
Y para que es esta pieza?
Love it
You can put a cars scissor jack between those bent in handlebars, and jack them back to their original position.
@@gsp49 thanks for the tip, I actually ended up getting a new set of hand bars as I wanted the fresh chrome and a dent free set . Good tip though !
@@MasonsWorkshop Found used or new ?, where from if new. i don`t want skyteam handlebars
@@kendexter brand new from Japan on eBay, not oem but a very good replica! I don’t think you can tell the difference
Where did you go for parts?
Hey, A mix of places. Shire bikes for the majority with Bens Bikes for the engine top end kit! some parts are harder to get hold of and need to be ordered from places like PHAT MX or TB parts.
Are those parts painted from the factory?
@@dcxplant Hey, based on research and a friend who restores these for a living, yes they are👍🏻 and if not they definitely look better painted 😀
@@MasonsWorkshop Thank you!! I have a '69 and a '78, this was great content. Thanks again.

You forgot to put the o-rings around the ingition bottom plate bolts.
@@pojoingx5201 well spotted but I think this was just down to the way it was filmed where I didn’t capture them being fitted.
@@MasonsWorkshop oh, alright. Anyway this was overall a great video thanks👍
Prob, thats why your ignition was always leaking oil… never seen one leaking because of the big o-ring failing….
how long shock ?

Nice to see youngsters working on these old bikes
Thank you! Seems peoples interests have changed a lot between generations, although I’m not sure it’s for the better 😀
can you open the front hood?
What kit did you use from Kitaco? I want to do this to my SL70 but cant even find number for your CT70
Hi there, I purchased the top end kit from Bens bikes UK. Link below: www.takegawauk.co.uk/product-page/kitaco-88cc-std-bore-up-type-6v I also got the kitaco clutch kit but this was from Shire bikes. and finally... I have a Kitaco exhaust as well which you will see in the next episode!
where did you get the castors from
Mac Industries UK, but they are available online easily!
多謝分享! Thx
I'm going to do this to my 1974 CT-70
@@bradjenkins4319 amazing! This bike should be up and running soon so I’ll share how it performs. Best of luck
My dad bought my brother one of these in 1969. I didn't start riding it until 1971 or 1972. I my grandfather sold it in 1985 to his neighbor for his neighbor's grandson. I think he got $200 for it back then. The clutch cable was gone but we still rode it. Never once did we get a flat tire in 16 years of riding that bike but my grandfather said both tires were flat when he sold it. It was awesome. The brakes were gone in it too but the dirt road by my grandfather's house was so long that even at top speed coming down there, we could always drag our feet and get it to stop. Just puttered around in the woods and back dirt roads all those years until my brother and I got too old for it and we joined the military. My grandfather wrote me and said he wanted to sell it so I told him to keep the money for all the years we kept it at his country home.
What a cool story! I wonder where that bike has ended up now. Can only hope its still being used. Thanks for watching and commenting
Great job i may tackle one of these myself... but why didnt you replace the regular nut on the head stud with an acorn nut?
@@scottmcboone2442 hey there, fun project. From factory these bikes came with one regular nut on the cylinder head hence me keeping as close to factory as possible!
@@MasonsWorkshop Thanks man, again great job!
I've had a 50 parts motor sitting for 10 years with a takegawa 88 cylinder. Now I want to build it
@@Dr650rob get that thing built!
I know i am quite late. What 3d printer are you using ?
@@cl5064 hi there, I am using the ‘prusa mini +’. I have a load of videos on my channel covering the machine!
Great job. Details like the zinc plated original nuts and bolts for the wheels make it extra special. The chain clip is on backwards at 8:00 .
@@Monkeyboy2457 I couldn’t agree more, it’s all in the detail. Thanks for notifying about the chain clip!
I don’t think the wheel hubs were painted ex works.
I am not 100 percent sure either, but I was told by a lot of people that painted was the closest to factory. from the pictures they dont look rough enough in pictures to be left raw.
Is this a street twin 900 or 1200
@@arunbabu855 this is a street twin which only came in the 900. The speed twin is available with the 1200!
Thanks, Street twin900 seat height is 765mm and 1200 seat height is 795mm if you managed to lower the 900 seat height lower than the stock height it will be definitely easier for short height people to handle the bike @MasonsWorkshop
Hey, would be nice to know what book you used there to know all the torque specs etc. or did you just torque them down like you thought it would be good? I have a St50E engine myself and would like to rebuild it so would be nice if you responded.
@@Dave-fr6si Hey Dave, I have a clymer manual for the Honda engine series which covers a large range of engines from this era. It details full torque specs and assembly methods which is very handy.
Thanks to you, I am able to produce industrial style pipe structures. I will try it soon. Thank you.
Hey, I am glad you found the video helpful!
What infill, bed temp, and nozzle temp do you use? (Thank you for covering this topic I have been having trouble printing my hatchbox tpu on my Prusa mini plus) (Good video)
Bed temp and nozzle temp is direct from the Prusa material guide. This is always my benchmark for setting up the machine. Infill I think was 10-15% but if your settings are correct I don’t see this having a huge impact on your prints! Best of luck and thanks for watching.
@@MasonsWorkshop One more thing btw, is there any tips you have to prevent stringing because that is a big problem for me when printing in tpu
