Movies becoming TV series
Presumed Innocent is the latest Hollywood blockbuster to be turned into a much longer TV series. Shows like Peyton Place, The Odd Couple and MASH all became more successful than the movies that spawned them, but for every hit, there have been about a dozen failures. Who remembers Casablanca coming to TV with David Soul, Ray Liotta and Hector Elizondo!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS have been staples on Australian TV, but that hasn't meant either show has been given any respect. They kept the Nine Network at the top of daytime ratings for years until they were cruelly cast aside. Fans rushed to follow the shows to Foxtel, only for Nine buy them back as repeats. Completely crazy. Now they're on the move again, so keep watchin...

US TV's first gay kiss
Переглядів 4343 місяці тому
Actor James Laurenson has died and it's worth remembering his iconic TV kiss with Sir Ian McKellan which screened on some American TV stations in 1970 at 5pm, and didn't cause a fuss! More controversial was when James Laurenson was cast as Aboriginal detective Napoleon Bonaparte in the 1972 TV series Boney. Later, when Bony was remade, they hired an even whiter actor to play the part. Will we e...
Eileen Davidson and her alter egos

The hottest soap on the box right now is The Young and The Restless with another iconic performance from Eileen Davidson who is currently playing several roles at once. That's because Ashley is having mental issues (again) and she has splintered into several different personalities. Can she top her time in Days Of Our Lives where she once played five characters at once? Let's hope so, stay tune...

Another Terence moment I forgot to mention in my earlier comments was the time he punched out Muldoon in the club, and also the sparring matches between them when Muldoon interfered with the running of the hospital(not providing enough funding for staff, equipment etc) Muldoon was sort of the Donald Trump of Wandin Valley. He deserved his end being carted off to jail.

One of the many stories I remember with Terence was in a fairly late ACP episode, in Season 12, where Terence has a new Nissan 300ZX sports car on loan with a view to buying it. Rosemary and Anna take it for a joyride and lock the keys in it, after being rescued by Tom, they return to the hospital where Terence decides to return the car in order to reduce his stress level!!!! Never saw anything Shane did before ACP, so it was very interesting to see the clips.

I also watched shows like The Restless Years and Cop Shop when I was too young, really, but still did anyway. The Restless Years was the first show I saw Shane Porteous in,where he played Andrew Nelson, and Cop Shop was where I first saw Rowena Wallace play Pamela Taylor.Other shows Shane mentioned here which he had been in-Certain Women,The Box and Number 96 I didn't remember watching, but my late mother mentioned them.

The Alice was a dramedy ABC would have made, stuck with it, let it find its rhythm, and it would have been a massive hit. I made series promos for that show (not the launch promos)... including a lotta bonus extras... e.g: one whole spot that was just the excellent "rock star car park" scene, where Erik breaks the fourth wall and explains how to get the best car spot. Nine wouldn't play it because "it was different". (Yes... that was the whole point.) Old Mate in programming was jittery because the launch promos oversold it to be HUGE... the next big thing-- which is typical-- and the ratings didn't live up to anywhere near that promise. At that time, Nine were still fixated on the prestige of being perceived as "Number 1" rather than, you know, being Number 1.

I loved this interview thanks Andrew and hearing Rebecca talk about the characters she played over the years that we all came to know and love. I’m looking forward to your next interview.
