Love the contrast between the background and the bracken like seed heads. The background texture is delicious!! Thank you.

I just love the textured background. I know that feeling of not wanting to spoil something all too well. I was given a beautiful handmade sketchbook for my birthday and I’ve yet to put a mark in it! I know I just need to put marks on the first page and get on with it. You’re so right, if you don’t get started then nothing else will show up for you. My intention is to stop being precious with new supplies and just play! If it all goes pear shaped it can be collaged over! I love the seed heads and looking forward to seeing how this piece develops ♥

My mom would always give out to me for using the good pens and good paper so a nice peice of paper or fabric scares me. I have been making quilts and felting and scraps things because I find it so stressful to dare cut into a nice bit of fabric. I've used old sheets all kinds of things. Today I did cut into my pink silk cotton that I have been keeping aside but only bevause a bit of it ripped did I start it. Its funny how those things really mess up your mind for life.

"Hope you stick around"....of course, I'm a subscriber! I'm curious, you say you were using a straight stitch to couch, does that mean you stitch down the middle of the yarn? I couldn't quite see where the stitching was. This is so lovely and reminds me of lavender heads. So you've given us additional ideas for our own stitching. Looking forward to seeing how this 'adventure" progresses.❤

I have a couching foot for my k99 and it straight stitches and guides the cord through a little hole thingy. It's very handy. But couching just means attaching it down so you can use any stitch you like. Zig zag will go over the cord so that you can pull it up in places to make loops which is nice. And straight stich will go through the cord ...you can hand sew it at places too so that it's not fully attached. Or you cann use decorative stitches too. Couching just means keeping it there somehow. You could even crotchet it or if it was a wool yarn on a wool background you could use a felting needle to couch it down too.
