    1) Your coffee mug is in the family of one of mine, gifted to me by my granddaughters: "BEST. GRANDPA. EVER." And as you know, coffee mugs never lie. 2) Did you clean your cob after the first smoke? If not, the second and unfiltered smoke didn't get a fair trial. 3) I am supposing that you have a number of different briars in your stable. The Savinelli will give you a fine smoke, for sure. But I'm betting that another Savinelli differs a little, not to mention a Wally Frank, a Peterson, and so on. 4) I have a good reason for fearing to break my clays. Experience. 5) Enjoyed this vid.

I try to keep the pipe as cool as possible by sipping slowly, then pushing the smoke back through the pipe very slowly, and keep slowly alternating awhile before expelling. This seems to make aromatics taste like you thought they would.

I'm a new person out there, just embarking on my tobacco journey, and this is just the sort of adivce I'm after. I'm just three weeks in so far, so I'm learning something new all the time. What you're saying in this video stacks with what I've heard here and there elsewhere, about how it's not about producing the most smoke, and that some people can go through a whole bowl whilst exhaling only trace amounts of visible smoke. At this early stage, I do get a lot of satisfaction from being able to exhale big billows of smoke (tells me the fire's going), but it makes sense that if the flavour comes from the tobacco just _before_ it is burnt, the smoke itself should not be the main attraction.

Thanks a lot for the useful information. I really like the "content" you create. In my case, I noticed that the experience is influenced by the diameter of the bowl. Could you please test and give me feedback if this is also something that influenced your experience?

If the burning tobacco on top of the bowl only serves to heat the unburnt tobacco and that is where the flavor comes from, it sounds like the old school pipe needs an update. An electronic device that heats the tobacco without burning it. You get the flavor without the smoke or the bother of learning to manage the ember just right.

I visited the park in 1986. I didn’t bring a pipe with me, I intended to buy a corncob pipe at the tobacco shop. They didn’t have Missouri Meerschaums, so I bought the cheap souvenir with the mouse stamped on it. I had just lit it when the fireworks went off. I was so engrossed in the show that I didn’t notice that the pipe was coated in varnish and had burst into flames. It must have looked like I was smoking a tiki torch!

Years ago I worked for a tea importer. We supplied to the Fairmont Hotel chain, and after I left, other chains as well. I appreciate your tea analogy, so I'd thought I'd share a tidbit for you. When you pour the hot water on the tea leaves and they start to open up, this is called "the agony of the leaf". Cheers!

Nah. I love smoking a pipe after having eaten something with a lot of heat to it. Because the heat helps to unclogg my usually pretty clogged up nose, and so I can "taste"/smell the tobbaco much better. And yes, I have blends, like for example the HH Burley Flake from McBaren, that I absolutely can't stand when it's fresh, but with ~5 years of age, then I do like it a lot. And I noticed the same with quite a few blends over the years. Old Joe Krantz is another one that I only like when it has been aged for at least 2-3 years.

Can anyone tell me what kind of room note this tobacco has? I am also one looking for something light. It can smoke well and also be stinky in the room. I do not want that. I have looked and cannot find anywhere that tells what room note it has.
