Sattvic Lifestyle Tips, EP41 Ayurvedic Lifestyle Tips with Lala Naidu
In Ayurveda and Samkhya philosophy, the three gunas-sattva, rajas, and tamas-represent the fundamental qualities that govern all of nature and human experience. Sattva embodies purity, harmony, and balance, promoting clarity, wisdom, and tranquility. Rajas is characterized by activity, passion, and restlessness, driving change, movement, and ambition. Tamas signifies inertia, darkness, and stability, often leading to lethargy, confusion, and resistance to change. These three gunas interact dynamically, influencing an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual states, and understanding their balance is key to achieving overall well-being and harmony in life.

    First of all telling Summer is Pitta season is incorrect. This knowledge is spread by people practicing Modern Ayurveda. Modern Ayurveda is spreading wrong information about which dosha is predominant in which season. I know this hurts a lot of people as they have learned it like that. I am sorry for that. But doshas first build, then peak and then subside. It is not heat is Pitta. This is symptom diagnosing the seasons (wait is that not Western Medicine?). Ayurveda looks at the root, people! Traditional Ayurveda tells us until half July Vata accumulate and during late Summer Vata peaks, while Pitta is building up. In autumn Vata is subsiding and Pitta is at its peak. In early winter Pitta subsides. This is traditional Ayurveda. Summer is not a Pitta season as most people think and tell the world. Early summer you are eating a mostly Vata pacifying diet and make sure you do not aggravate Pitta. In Late Summer you need to focus on both Vata and Pitta dosha. This is done with the sweet taste, that pacifies both doshas. Minimize hot tastes (pungent, sour, salty) and drying tastes (astringent and bitter). Prefer moist over dry foods, less fatty over oily, light over hard to digest, cooling over hot foods, soupy or liquid over dense and hard food textures. Prefer lassi made with cane sugar, water cooled in clay pitchers, fresh squeezed sweet fruit juices, sweet lemonade, coconut water, moist cooling vegetables, like cucumber, squashes and caramelized onions along with stir-fried vegetables. Due to outer heat, the inner agni automatically retreats in terms of intensity, so lighter foods must be consumed so they can digest with ease. What is contra-indicated in summer: garlic and very spicy foods, salty chips, garam masala, raw onions, peanuts, salsa, sesame seeds, wasabi, and other sharp, heating foods. Chilies, eggplant, mustard leaves, papaya, peppers, pickles, pineapple, red onions, tomato, and mustard seed oil, peanut oil, and sesame oil in cooking. Cook with ghee. Avoid fermented and sprouted foods. Minimize salads (add a generous amount of oil or ghee if consuming salads). Further most of Lala's tips are useful. Thank you Lala for making the public aware of Ayurveda. ❤

      Yes ghee is great, though it does leave the skin quite greasy. You can use gram flour to rub on your skin after the abhyanga (in the shower) to help absorb some of the ghee, just be mindful that it can clog the drain. I offer that to clients and pour boiled water into the drain after use. I hope that helps.

    • @LalaNaidu
      @LalaNaidu 2 місяці тому

      Hello friend, it's difficult for me to support you without knowing your health history. I suggest you see an Ayurvedic Physician or Practitioner in your area. In general, scalloping suggests malabsorption, but it could also be teeth marks from the swollen tongue, and a red tip could be an indicator of inflammation, the tip of the tongue represents the head and neck region. The swelling is usually more of a kapha indicator. It appears that you need support with your digestion.

      Namaste dear, thank you for the kind words. Castor oil is very viscous (thick) and I don't imagine it being easy to apply as a full body oil. More traditionally, safflower or mustard oil is used for Kapha-types. Dry brushing is also very beneficial to invigorate kapha dosha and could be done as a stand-alone treatment or before oiling. • @LalaNaidu
      @LalaNaidu 3 місяці тому

      Hello, each woman is unique and their experience of perimenopause varies. I treat based on symptoms and since I don't have more of your history it's hard for me to say if shatavari is a suitable herb for you. Shatavari is best for depleted and "dry" types, usually a sign of low progesterone, as it moistens and tonifies. In contrast to excess estrogen with common signs of weight gain, migraines, water retention, mood swings, and heavy periods and here shatavari wouldn't be my first choice. In general, it is important to address liver health as hormones are recycled through the liver and adrenals as they take over from the ovaries in making sex hormones (though much less). For many perimenopausal women, I often use "Women's Natural Transition" from Banyan Botanicals. Blessings sister ~

    Hello dearest, my mother gave me the enema twice a week and always on a weekday, never on weekends or on a public holiday midweek. At exactly 4pm, she would take the same old aluminum pot and fill it with water. She then placed it on one of the 4 gas burners in the kitchen. As soon as the water boiled, he poured in a generous dose of Cirio white wine vinegar. After a few minutes, she turned off the fire and carried the old pot into the bathroom, placing it on top of the Candy washing machine. She then took one of the natural rubber pears from Cip di Lesmo (a company founded by Mr. Baldioli) and after having emptied it of the air, she immersed it in the pan, with the cannula facing the bottom. She then sat down and waited until the pear (or the first pear, in case she decided to give me the three-pear enema that day) was filled. She generally used the larger pears, in particular the two 1250 ml pears. My mother used a small tub located under the top shelf of the washing machine as a hiding place for the pears, a tub that I never understood what it was for. This upper floor was hinged at the rear to allow access to the small basin.

Many of these relatively simple, low-cost, and low-tech health-promoting tools and ideas are well worth considering as part of healthy living.

    So is this worth a shot for red eye veins? I have permanent veins in my eyes that are very unsightly. You spoke about this helping with Pterygium, would it also work for blood vessels? Also did it really make Pterygium go away? I thought only surgery worked.

    • @LalaNaidu
      @LalaNaidu 11 місяців тому

      Aloha ~ I continue to do this practice 2x daily and I no longer have the symptoms of Pterygium. In addition, I'm also more mindful of wearing a hat and sunglasses especially when driving and by the ocean to avoid the reflection of the sun. I can't speak to your specific case as I don't know the full picture, but Triphala Eyewash won't hurt to try and it's very affordable. I imagine you have already explored the causes of red-eye veins? If not, it's always important to address the cause in addition to the symptom. I found this helpful > www.kadrmaseyecare.com/eye-health--care-blog/bloodshot-eyes-should-you-be-concerned

      Aloha sweet friend, nice to hear from you! Yes, I like that idea, that should be very possible. I enter yoga nidra most days myself to unwind my body-mind and attune to my highest aspirations. Thank you for the encouragement. I hope this finds you well. Love to you ~

      @@LalaNaidu I am happy to hear that it’s a possibility. Sometimes I put a yoga nidra on UA-cam but it’s hard to find the right vibe/voice/energy. It’s a subtle yet very deep practice for me so the energy is important and I have not yet found the right one online. Your class in makawao/Pukalani was the best🙌🏼

      Aloha dearest, I’m sorry to hear that you are suffering and have lost a lot of weight because you are scared to eat. Since I don’t know your health history and don’t want to steer you wrong, I can’t give you specific advice. Triphala might be helpful. I recently wrote a blog on Gut Healing Teas, scroll down to view one for SIBO > www.ayurvedawoman.com/blogs/blog/gut-healing-teas Sending love your way ~

I imagine that there are good holistic veterinarians out there that can offer more experienced guidance. Sending healing energy to you and your pup ~

      Namaste Eileen, I probably need to make a new video that shows the steps in more detail (this is one of my earliest videos). I use a fine mesh strainer. I have tried running the tea through a coffee filter without much success. As the triphala tea cools any "sediment" will settle to the bottom of the jar, still, people's sensitivity varies.
