Your reaction is the best reaction to dark ... in this timeline and dimension.
Oh yeah, this is so the best reaction on UA-cam.
I feel like Wicked is helping me find all of the gentle, thoughtful people of UA-cam that I would like actually love if I met. People I wouldn't have found otherwise because a lot of you react to horror, and I am a scaredy-cat lol
I still love Jeff even though he’s a naughty wizard of no power.😊
@46:10 "I don't know how Elsa expected this to go." Elsa, huh? ;P
how else they* 😭
@ChannelNamePending699 That makes more sense!! Lol!
I think (sorry) I may have gone to the bathroom during the Ozdust scene - my memory does not include much emotional depth from that scene.
Ariana was on Broadway when she was a kid. ua-cam.com/video/fMxjIyiso7U/v-deo.htmlsi=_YGfhSkZUwIOGsgG
Ariana on Broadway isn't a surprise, but seeing Liz Gillies was! I had no idea they knew each other even before Victorious.
So i have absolutely no factual bases for this its just a theory i had but its funny how you said elphies initial ballroom dance looked like an animal or possibly a mating type dance cause i thought the same thing and elphaba was raised by a nanny bear and always related fo the animals of oz more she hadnt had as many interactions with humans ar that point beacuse 99% of them judged her beacuse of her skin.
The very very last 20 ish seconds are my absolute FAVORITE seconds of this entire movie. As someone whose heard of the wicked play my whole entire life, finally getting the chance to see it and being so moved to goosebumps and tears by the end - finally a remake that was done right. The drums in the last song and elphie shooting off into the sunset was the most next level I've ever seen from a movie. They even did the BUM BUM BUM BUM BUMMM and it wasn't cheesey I loved this so much
The musical is AMAZING but I'm slightly jealous of people who got to experience Wicked for the first time through the film, I can't even imagine how epic that'd be 🔥
The timpani in the last few seconds is awesome. What I most appreciated about the end of Defying Gravity were the various lights blowing out in slow-motion as the Wizard looks utterly perplexed, amazed, and most of all afraid. I loved it.
Nah, I ship Gliyeraba forever. 💖💚💙
I have to say that my favourite song is "for good " and now we know the name of part 2 "Wicked for good". I kusthope they don't change the ending or if so not to much.
The point that "you can't have the same child again" is a great observation... but beside the point. Here in this case, the narrative supercedes the physicality. Yes, _technically,_ this would be impossible. But the story wants/needs it to happen... so it does. There is just _one_ "Cain", and he fathers both Trontes in both worlds. They don't even have to be identical. In World Beta, it's Franziska who is deaf/mute, and Elisabeth can speak. That's an inherent difference, not based on some personal choice. But they still need to be identical enough for the audience to identify them and relate to them. The story is more important than any implied "reality".
and they were roommates!
My favourite part of watching people react to Wicked is seeing the faces they make to the girl asking "is it true you were her friend?". You can sense Glinda's nostalgia and vulnerability in the flashbacks, especially the Poppy Fields one. The softness of the atmosphere wrapps us, the spectator, in it; and for a moment you just FEEL the adoration caress you as Elphaba proudly puts on the hat under Glinda's delicate gaze.
Beautifully put! This scene is a perfect example of the film taking advantage of the medium - showing that brief flash of memory in that way is something you simply can't do on stage, and I really appreciated the decision to include that. It's our first real glimpse at Glinda's love for Elphaba, and Ariana's acting and delivery just sends it home.
Season 3 can feel a bit "rushed" at times. Or rather: "rushing". They have to introduce a whole new world and story, while at the same time following existing storylines, plus bringing all of it together. But overall, it works quite well.
The only thing that season 3 really needed was maybe an additional episode or two to help flesh out the concepts and lessen that sense of it being "rushed." Netflix carries some of that blame for cracking down on season lengths. That being said, even if it doesn't feel *quite* as cohesive as season 2, I still think season 3 is executed as well it can be given the circumstances. That's why I don't really rate it any less than the other sessons, and it even gets bonus points for how ambitious it is.
"Noah still doesn't know how to play this game." It's a bit of a mean remark from Adam. It's not that Noah is lacking some insight into the whole time-loop thing... it's that he is lacking specific information about the future that Adam does have. Adam knows that he can't die by Noah's hand... because he knows the future. He knows the future, because he remembers it. He remembers that, as Young-Jonas, he has seen Adam kill Martha. Adam knows that this hasn't happened yet, must happen in the future... which means: he has to be there to do it. Conclusion: he cannot die yet. But Noah doesn't know that... and because it is him who dies there... he never will. It can sometimes be quite hard to remember, with all the information that we as viewers have about the different time-periods: the protagonists themselves do not have these. Even with all that talk about "the loop" or "the cycle"... time is still linear. They can't go back to _be_ their former or future self. They still go on, from birth to death, having nothing but their memory of things they have seen in their personal past... even if these events happened in a "general" future.
To your last point, that's why Claudia is so impessive to me. Because against all odds, despite all the evidence pointing towards the contrary, she managed to find the one way that time doesn't have to be linear. And she accomplished this pretty much all on her own. We can talk about whether the loophole really is what she says it is or not, but it doesn't make her discovery of it any less impressive.
I've been doing community theater since 1987, and this movie DESTROYED me. All I can do is agree with all your comments 1000%. (And anyone who throws shade at Ariana - well, she's just going to sing HIGHER until your GLASSES SHATTER so there)
Jonathan Bailey is gay in real life.
30:28 "At least he's not going the Game of Thrones route" Interestingly, relationships between aunt and nephew would be perfectly legal according to German law. It's only between relatives in direct line - either vertical (parents, grandchildren and such) or horizontal (siblings) that they are legally prohibited. The social taboo is a completely different question of course. But also interesting: this taboo _is_ an almost purely social construct. It's only in massively inbred lines that genetic defects would accumulate to problematic levels, and on the other hand, there is no existing society that prohibits relationships based on the probability of genetic defects between unrelated persons. Humans are weird. ;)
Interesting thoughts. Honestly it's funny looking back on these earlier reactions now, seeing our discomfort at Jonas and Martha's pairing, not yet having any idea of just how deep the incest runs in these families 🤣 at a certain point we just stopped caring lol
An interesting anecdote about Noah’s “real name” Hanno Tauber, is that “Tauber” in German means “the deaf one”, which adult Noah probably named himself of in memory of Elisabeth.
Makes sense. I was wondering where "Tauber" came from when he's technically a Tidemann.
@ I imagine Noah took on this alias after arriving at Erna’s as an adult, or after Adam took him in. The reasons being that Tiedemann is a dead giveaway to his family ties when he’s undercover as a priest in Winden, furthermore Noah is probably brainwashed so thoroughly he wouldn’t have wanted his father’s last name because he lost faith. (Though Silja is also technically a Tiedemann…) Or this name might have even come from Bartosz himself from staying incognito in the 1880s, but I’d like to think that Noah named himself Tauber because of Elisabeth
Yeah I think he mostly likely took the name after returning to the 1920s as an adult. It could've been a mix of both needing to stay undercover as well as renouncing his father's name. Wouldn't matter much if Silja is also a Tidemann since the name comes from Bartosz first and foremost. I doubt the name Tauber came from Bartosz, otherwise wouldn't they have all changed their names and not just Hanno? I guess the show never tells us, but as far as we know, Bartosz, Magnus, Franziska, Silja, etc. all go by their real names in the 1800s (not counting Adam/Jonas). We don't really get any indication that they *need* to go incognito, since it's not like anyone knows them or is looking for them. And anyway I like the theory that he names himself "Tauber" in memory of Elisabeth.
17:14 Is it important? I don't think so. It's just one of the many many tiny details in this show that make it consistent, but do not have a direct impact on the story. As you have watched the show to the end, and will have worked out all the family connection, you might notice here: Agnes both tells the truth and lies. Yes, her grandmother is from Winden. In fact, both her grandmothers are from Winden. But Agnes wouldn't have heard them praise the town, as she never met either of them.
Yeah we bring this up later as it almost felt like a continuity error, but she could easily be lying. Fabio theorized that maybe Bartosz told Agnes stories about her grandmother, but that wouldn't make sense either since Regina never had any real love for Winden.
option up is in the original song
Is this a date?
Claudia bursting into tears after seeing cancer-ridden Regina in 2020 breaks my heart every single time I watch the scene. Julia Jenkins really is such a brilliant actor
BTW starting this episode, the rating of every episode till the end of the season reaches over 9 on IMDb, this is hands down the goat of all “season 2”s
It's one of my favorites seasons of any show in general 🔥
Great job guys!
37:12 My thoughts exactly!
Remember when Ulrich said to Charlotte in the first episode: "have you ever wondered how you can make a wrong turn somewhere in life and everything goes to sh*t?" Little did he know he would literally make a wrong turn in the tunnel and miss his son's time period
And fun fact unrelated to the plot: the actor starring adult Claudia (Julika Jenkins) in 1986 is actually the life partner to the actor starring Tannhaus (Arnd Klawitter) in 1953 in real life.
I've been doing deep dives into Dark lore and this is the first time I've heard of this! Very nice :)
I'm obsessed with Wicked help me

@ChannelNamePending699 💖
Ariana is so funny. Love her in this movie.
also morrible's predjudice against Animals is much more obviously stated in the book and in the musical, i prefer them hiding it more though it makes for a more effective plot twist
Honestly movie Morrible has more shades of book Morrible than the stage version does, which is pretty cool.
the water thing is taken much more seriously in the book haha
The only green screening on the shiz university is just the sky box and back drop. They built a to size shiz university and every scene shot in shiv like the dorm, class, canteen, courtyard are all inside the building itself. You can look it up online took them 30 weeks to build it all.
We know how Galinda got into Shiz University - I smell nepotism 😬
I hope you guys get to watch the deleted scenes too 🤭
I've been watching them as they come out! Though I still wish we'd gotten an extended director's cut with those scenes included.
42:25 Historians will say they were roommates. 😅
I subscribed during your Dark reactions, had no idea you were a musicals fan! This film definitely raised my opinion of No One Mourns the Wicked and Dancing Through Life, I didnt really care for those numbers before, and I'm soooo excited for No Good Deed and For Good in part 2
I fear I'm not emotionally prepared for Cynthia and Ariana's For Good
Easily my favourite wicked reaction on youtube. A lot of other channels cut a lot of the moments i loved in the movie, so seeing y'all keep and having the same reaction i had to most, if not all of them, made it almost feel like i was rewatching it with friends. Thank you for uploading this, it was so much fun!
Thank you so much 💚
Yes 100% this!!!! I loved watching the uncut reactions to the little bits that add soooo much flavor to the movie 😭🥹
Great reaction. You two are adorable!
Thank you! 💚
Dancing Through Life was one of the few (if only) songs I didnt really care for in the musical, but this movie version I love soooo much! I dont undersrand not just people shipping the 2, but also those who act like their friendship is something to aspire to. Elphaba is so genuinely kind and generous while Galinda/Glinda is at best a selfish bi***y mean girl bully, and at worst a straight up manipulative villain!
Glinda is not the villain here.
the girl reacting looks so much like adore delano (sorry idk your name, I'm new here)
They never had real friends. Right?? I don't understand why they have to sexualize everything.
Jeff walks in * excited silence * "smash"😂😂😂
If the movie looks grey to you, you need to check your eyes or the Theater you went to didn't keep up with maintenance... :)
I love watching theater people react to the wicked movie... this was by far one of the bests reactions
I've seen it in theaters, loved it.
Johnathan Bailey really has the best chemistry with lesbians of color
Involved in Theater since high school. So impressed by the height of detail and discipline and desire of the cast to do this story justice. Everyone giving 100% and every penny spent is on that screen. Watched 4 times and bought the soundtrack on vinyl record. I am invested.
Wicked Part 2
4:35 my favorite tidbit of info I have learned about Wicked in the last month is that when Queen Elizabeth died, Wicked was playing in the West End and they had to make an announcement before the show that they would have a moment of silence in honor of her passing but out of respect for her majesty's love of the West End, they would be performing the show unedited and as written. This was to hopefully keep people who were unaware of the first 4 opening words of the musical were from claiming they were being insensitive to her majesty's passing 🤭 RIP Queen 👸 Also, watching my dude straight up STRUGGLE to not sing is so real 😂😂😂 it's me around my non musical theater friends 😂😂 I would absolutely watch a 2nd Sing Along Reaction 😂😂 I also WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree with all of my girls "SMASH"'s 😂😂😂 Finally I will say it's my first time here to your channel but I have seen a ton of Wicked reactions and this has hands down my favorite reaction of all. I subscribed like 5 minutes in 😂😂 I felt like I was watching with my old college theater friends. I don't have anyone in my close circle now who I can gush about theater nerd stuff with so that's why all the word vomit 😂😂 I hope to see more soon! ❤️👏🏻🤌🏻
This is my first time hearing that trivia about Wicked and the Queen's passing. Such unfortunate timing 😅 that's both sad and slightly amusing, but I'm glad they went through with it in the end That was exactly my intention in doing this reaction - sharing our perspectives as theater nerds, both familiar and not familiar with Wicked - so I'm really glad you enjoyed it that way!
