Hey, I'm a dude. I stumbled upon "Garden Spells" in my wife's book collection, and have been in love with S A.A's books since. There is NOTHING wrong with this sort of story telling. Her writing is great, especially her character development and dialogue. "Chick Lit" my ass. These are GREAT STORIES!

What were the books that gave you in nightmares? I was kinda hoping for that from this book, but my experience was pretty similar to yours. It started slow but wasn't necessarily boring then had a really exciting and impactful last act

Fun fact about PEI theres a mother duck that every year crosses a road, she gets a police escort and they shut down the road for her and her ducklings...theres a newspaper article shes kinda a celebrity....

I'm triggered by animals, too, but I really enjoyed The Deep. Like, I checked it out from the library and it stuck with me so much that I bought a copy to keep. I'm afraid of his other books, though! I have them but they're sitting in the corner, behaving themselves while I fret over reading them and encountering animal abuse (& I know The Troop has it).
