GMH’s greed ruined the Monaro by supplying them with any size motor You could have one with a 186 … Whereas the ford GT was 351 only and had limited numbers The GTS was made in larger numbers and never kept as a special model
Not everyone wanted a 300hp monster with four speed manual transmission, a heavy clutch, rock hard suspension and no power steering. Monaros sold well because of their almost endless configurations. It wasn't greed - it was clever marketing.
Sort yourself out, HT Monaro was NOT manufactured in left hand drive. No credibility whatsoever.
For some reason a lot of the shots are reversed. A LHD Monaro definitely doesn’t look right and isn’t. I liked the reference to dual headlights showing it definitely had two.
Most likely the reverse shots are so a computer looking for copyrighted infringements has difficulty finding them. Or possibly the Americans can’t understand that we drive on the left. Besides that great video apart from the American accent and some of the cringeworthy terminology used.🇦🇺

Perhaps an honorary mention is in order for Toyota's 20R engine used in the 1975-1979 Celica. The 20R was simple, reliable, and peppy for the 70s era.

You must be kidding Holdens ,whilst they were very reliable, were never race cars They were much smaller than the opposition both Chrysler and ford were bigger and more powerful This story is all BS
The 13B rotary engines were also produced by Mazda in the 70s very poor gas mileage but they also packed a punch and make alot of power for such a small engine, Mazdas being a light weight sports cars, power to weight ratio were insane at the time, the engine sitting far back in the engine bay gave them a perfect balance with not many moving engine internals they're the smothest engine to drive

My father had a genuine S4 that he said used to belong to Beechey/Stillwell or some racing notable in the day, not sure after all these years. Normal 179, slightly heavier suspension but nothing else worth mentioning. It did have the purple S4 logo on the steering box, so that may have a different ratio.
I owned three EH wagons in my youth, the last one was repowered with a 186, which could touch 60 mph in second. The thing I liked about EH wagons was the two stages of fold-down on the rear seat. The first stage you flipped up the seat to vertical, and folded down the backrest, not long enough for a 6-footer to sleep. The second stage you had to put the front seat all the way forward, then the rear seat, with a clever set of steel bars, could flip all the way over flat, and the back rest would clip on to the back of it, making a bed space well over 6 feet long. I camped out in my wagons dozens of times. With a set of snow chains, I took on many a muddy 4wd track.

It's the 21st century and in a month it's gonna be 2025. We can take a standard EVO VI and make it up with performance thru proper tuning and technological advancement. I really hated these special JDM versions. As a person living outside Japan, it's already hard to obtain the regular standard versions, then they release these so-called limited editions... The reason why I hate the Japanese other than their atrocities in WW2.

The holden red motor did win at Bathurst but that was in 1972 in the smaller and more advanced Holden Torana and it was a larger 186 cubic inch with a triple carb set up. Apart from that it has been mostly V8s that have dominated Bathurst Ford and Holden both winning in the years that followed

Oh My God ! Firstly, in 1963 Australia used Australian Pounds NOT Euros . Australia uses Dollars now NOT Euros . Europe didn't use Euros in 1963 , Euros didn't exist in 1963 . The EH was 1 Lap behind the Winning Ford Cortina , which won in 1963, 1964 and 1965 , Mini Cooper S won 1966 , Ford Falcon GT won 1967 . Holden won their first Bathurst in 1968 with a 327 Monaro which was a Rocket Ship compared to an EH . To say the EH dominated Bathurst is a Joke , Bob Jane in a Ford Cortina won by a full lap to 2nd placed EH , Ford Cortina came 3rd 3 seconds behind and closing on the EH , another Lap and Cortina would have been 1st and 2nd . I owned 2 EH s and the only way a 179 would hit 105 mph would be if you pushed it off a Cliff .327 Monaro had twice the power a 4 speed gearbox and top speed was 120mph .
