    Thanks for explaining. Found a huge nest that is way up in the eves and another one outside the second floor bedroom window. Orkin said almost 300 to come get it. I am allergic so don't feel comfortable walking outside with them out there.

      @@stevesrt8 I hit boths nests. I didn't realize I knocked the larger one off my house, some went scrambling but I have not gone back to the side of the house since they are trying to rebuild and I don't want to go looking to see if I killed any. The one in the front did not come down, no matter how hard I sprayed it, but I had a lot of dead wasps. A few minutes after I went inside, I saw several flying right back to the spot. I was told peppermint oil will stop them from returning. I have peppermint soap so I will go after them again. I do need to purchase a pressure nozzle with a foamer. Thanks!

      @@TheStarforce2 I don’t remember exactly. Took maybe 15 minutes to get the furnace going and then probably 10-15 to melt the rim. I got a bunch to do once the weather cools down.

    Well done! You got it lit and fireing on the first try. A lot of people get scared by the power of the things but once you get used to them, no big deal. You did that right in having a larger outlet than inlet. You could still get a lot more power of of it with a bigger blower and a pump on the oil . Great success and good to see!

      Yeah. The video is for a bit of a competition with some other guys. We were limited to 5 mins max. I had to cut a lot lol. I find you get a lot cleaner pour if you leave the bare minimum sticking out of the sand. Plus keeping a full cab helps as well I think. Cheers

      I grip the bracket with some vise grips. Then bang it on something hard like a bench vise. You will see the magnet shift. Then you can slide it off. You do lose the metal coating on the back but it doesn’t matter if you plan to epoxy it down. Cheers

    The electric furnace is nice for the small castings isn't it? I love mine. I only have two complaints. The crucible doesn't last long and it takes forever to heat up.

      Are you using it for aluminum of copper? Takes me about an hour to cast a piece with aluminum but don’t have to babysit it like the propane furnace

    Marvelous. The aluminum really did turn out clean. I like your angle method. I dig the trees. Can't guess what the other shape is. Is it tree related? I got nervous for ya at 04:03 with that bucket of water where it was. Had you accidentally dropped your molten metal near or in it, could have been a bad explosion. You kick ass Steve. Love the furnace. Keep it burning.

    Beeswax is excellent for gluing foam. Use a brush that is up to temp, foam will fail before the wax. I have not tried to machine it.

      ​@@stevesrt8 Good stuff man. Yeah that copper is tough with those electric furnaces. It definitely takes forever. I mainly use mine for aluminum. It will also get you more use out of it. Bringing those heating coils that high will burn them out quicker.

      Thanks man. It is just dry sand. No clay. Beach sand basically but I sifted it down to as fine as I could with a kitchen screener. I bit of vibration is recommended to stiffen it up

    Nice setup you've got there. A throatless shear might be worth a look if you have a lot of that cable to knock down. ETA That's a pretty good price too.

    I thought this furnace is rated for 3kg of aluminum? You're only getting 1kg? Oh, nevermind...3kg is probably for the heavier things like copper.

      i think its actually for 3kg of gold. gold being 19.3g/cc vs aluminum at 2.7g/cc. so the pound of aluminum would be over 7 pounds of gold. not alot of volume but handy for small stuff for sure. pretty easy to set up and use vs my propane set up. cheers

    vevor's put out some nice stuff. Not sure I'd ever use something that size as when I'm melting I'm melting! But very cool.

      It’s nice. Will be handy for the winter time for sure. I definitely like casting larger stuff but I’ll find a use for it. Got a few ideas
