    Steve, over on Paul’s discord we’ve been discussing crucibles. He has recently had an unexpected blow out. Seems there are milled and there are sintered/cast crucibles. The ones that look milled (sharp edges) appear to work better (cost more), so please be careful! I’ve used mine (milled style) a handful of times without issue. Pop on the discord again and see what’s what!
    Glad to see you are big enough to get some Vevor love!

    Sweet video buddy! Now you have something to melt metal on rainy days 🔥🔥. Yeah definitely a waste to make ingots with it IMO. I like how you fed the wire in the hole in the top.

      Cheers man. Wish I had one years ago. Need to come up with some smaller designs to cast. Going to be sweet this winter

      Had some flattened sections that didn’t work well. Took some hammering to round it back out but yeah. Pretty slick for sure. Cheers

    Nice setup you've got there. A throatless shear might be worth a look if you have a lot of that cable to knock down.
    ETA That's a pretty good price too.

      We had sunshine lol. Spring is back now. Rain. Yeah, got the wire for free. Took some time to strip it but great stuff for the electric furnace. Cheers

      A cable stripper that is heavily flawed. The machine itself is okay. But the blades break WAY too easy.

    I thought this furnace is rated for 3kg of aluminum? You're only getting 1kg? Oh, nevermind...3kg is probably for the heavier things like copper.

    • @stevesrt8
      @stevesrt8  3 місяці тому

      i think its actually for 3kg of gold. gold being 19.3g/cc vs aluminum at 2.7g/cc. so the pound of aluminum would be over 7 pounds of gold. not alot of volume but handy for small stuff for sure. pretty easy to set up and use vs my propane set up. cheers
