This is my problem. Too steep. I emailed you Larry
Me too John. Me too…
i played with you, larry, and an old club pro from oregon, i think, bob duden?, when you were in a practice rroound for the phoenix open, maybe 45 yrs ago! it was to be your first regular pga event. i still marvel at how the two of you guys drove so straight the entire 18 holes. by the way, i'm 91 yrs old now and my oldest son who played with us that day is 67. youch. you stilllook great and nice to see the video. norm brown phoenix az
Hi Norm, thanks for the note. Not sure about the club pro. Could have been Bobby Proben. My first year trying to qualify for Phoenix was 1982. Got on Tour in the spring of 1981. First year I played in the Phoenix Open might have been 1985. Hope ur doing well. Thx
Excellent overview and demonstration!
Thanks Terry
Beautiful instruction.
Mr.Rinker how do you make that shallowing move?
Have to swing more in to out.
People! Instead of pounding a bucket of balls with your driver…just focus on this drill. Impact is king. Trust Mr Rinker to set you on the correct (swing) path!
With the arms and hands
He hit it dead center tho
Swing changes are tough.
Hey Larry, I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your videos and repurpose your long videos into highly engaging shorts? I can also make high CTR thumbnails for your channel
damnit john
Nice work Craig and Larry!
Or you can use 2 balls instead of 2 bottles
This is why you use a bottle, not a brick. 😅
wait and hit the bottle on 19th hole
Best show on UA-cam
Thanks
Hey Larry can or have you gone over width of stance?
I never knew that. Thanks, you’re a star.
Try again John
John had only 1 job. 😂
Me too
Come on John you gotta miss the bottle
Larry can you go over the "wrist angles at address" and the movement of the back wrist (right wrist)on the takeaway thanks.
That’s a big subject and would be different depending on core region. My friend Jon Sinclair has done a great video on wrist angles in the golf swing. Check it out.
How does the face not close to path significantly when you are emphasizing the arms and hands leading the downswing?
Easy. Because the lead arm is in the correct place at impact and the shaft of the club has not caught up to the lead arm. If you keep speed in your lead arm on the forward swing that is how you keep the club face from closing too much. I would guess your question is coming from the culture of "the big muscles control the little muscles." That's not my philosophy. Have to know what your arms, hands, and wrists are doing in the golf swing to hit the desired shot.
I tell you what. The longer I play, the more I’m finding that introducing more focus on my hands and arms directing my shots (including the putter), the better I’m getting. I spent years focusing on my pivot, trying to keep my hands out of it in order to be more consistent. Opposite of what I needed.
Couldn’t agree more Big Will.
Thanks for putting these videos out there. I've gone down so many rabbit holes trying to fix what to me is now obvious. I'm an upper core player and I need to swing my upper core swing.
Thanks Johnny. Most of us are upper core. Glad I could help. Keep Swinging!
Awesome demonstration and explanation @LarryRinkerGolf !
Thanks Terry
I always keep that shaft up. Helps my balls alot...
Excellent!
Even though not rotating much as upper core, does one still need to keep the hips on the tush line vs early extended?
Upper core players early extend and come out of posture. This is ok and a vertical ground reaction force.
thanks Larry.i always try to address the ball with square to the target, but by the time impact comes into play I may be open or closed. I could be just rotating the club slightly in my grip.i dont know. there also seems to be some effort to get more flexion of the lead wrist into impact, but I haven't found this to be very consistent either.what is your advice on this?thanks John
I would go take a lesson from a good instructor and get it figured out. All the best.
I am lower corp I have tried to change to an upper corp, hands and arm swing but I don't seem to be able to time the swing. properly. As far as distance is concerned there isn't any real difference. I appreciate learning more about the corp concept. Even at 74 I can still learn and make some changes to keep the game going. I play to a 10 handicap now, so, I'm still having some fun. I have to watch my back with the lower corp swing because I am putting more pressure on it playing this way. Thanks for everything and I hope you do some lower corp teaching in the future.
i have a 44 dgre pw and a 58 degree lob wedge what should i add to my bag?
a 50GW and 54 SW
Thanks Larry, switched up to releasing my hands after watching this. Left them all short at first, but now that I have the feel for the extra distance with the higher ball flight, my circle around the hole is much tighter. And my misses have been better.
I had a fitting from Jon last month. He was awesome. He gave me pointers on my swing, but didn’t try to change me much. Just what I need to fix my flaws. Also, the TPT shafts are awesome.
Larry, based on my gapping I have a 54 but only 8 should I get 10 D
It depends on how steep your angle of attack is.
Short and sweet and 100% correct.
Good fundamentals for consistent results. Thanks Larry!
Larry. Would setting up a bit closed and staying mostly on the lead leg on the backswing be ok? Almost pre setting the turn in the backswing.
yes it would for an upper core player. I had a student today in a two-day school that was ripping draws from a closed stance.
@@LarryRinkerGolf Thanks! I am an upper core player. I've been fitted by Doc a few times over the years. I appreciate your response. I had the same experience. I was hitting very pure high draws the few times I've tried that. 🏌🏻♂️
Thanks Larry. Great reminder.
Thanks for explaining upper core pivot around the front leg. That was the missing element for me. I always had to much lateral motion trying to get to right side. Now all the upper core elements of my swing match up as you say. Great video Thanks
Been hooking the ball since Ive returned from a back injury. Just worked out I am not rotating enough in follow thru. Tried to rotate early and more in my downswing today and my fade has returned..
Great video, however at least my struggle is trying to keep the arms and club in front of my chest on the backswing. Any suggestions? I know the old drill of cocking the club up then turn and extend from Jim Flick, but that’s just a feel and still doesn’t show how to get to the correct spot in the backswing. Thx!
That doesn’t happen on the back swing so don’t worry about it.
Larry, do you think the feet together drill is helpful?
Yes it is with a closed stance for upper core players.
Larry. Are you suggesting that twisting my back and hips into a pretzel is wrong? 😀
😂
I was struggling with pitching a year ago, this is exactly what fixed it. Thx for the reminder.
Larry, it seems that some of your tips, are meant just for me! Thanks
That’s the plan! They are meant for someone.
This is awesome Larry. It's funny how natural it is to do that, because you can't really have a mechanical thought like rocking the shoulders while trying to hit a ball in motion.
Another great video Sir!
Thank you!! Dynamic Alignment.
