Nancy, I made a Soft Focus shawl in Manchelopis. It is lovely, but in my eyes the light grey looks just like dust bunnies! I have been searching for a way to get it over dyed. Would this be a possibility for your dying class? Fingers crossed.

Hello from Vancouver Island on Canada's west coast. I have a question: I am a pretty new knitter and just finished my second sweater and am ready to block it. It is in Sandes Garne Line. Do you do anything differently for blocking plant fibres? The washing instructions say, "machine wash on wool cycle" . What about the dryer? It is slightly on the big side, so I don't want it to stretch, but if is shrunk just a wee bit, that would be ok. I am afraid to put it in the washer and dryer. Thanks for the informative podcasts! I really enjoy them.

another reason to block..yarn is dirty. it is manufactored in a large factory, or sheep to skein with vegetable matter still in it . or it has been in a shop and touched by many other shoppers with dirty hands. You are knitting the ball falls to the floor, the cat plays it. you pet your dog and keep knitting. the finished garment is not clean! wash and block!

I have a question about blocking: Do we have to block our sweater each time we wash it or just the first time? Thank you for your always interesting podcast. From Québec, Canada. Louise

I just returned from Italy, and while I was in Venice I visited a lovely yarn shop called Lellabella. I bought some amazing yarns, and learned from the owner that the word for bobbles in Italian is ‘nocciole’ (hazelnuts) which is just adorable! Enjoy your travels!

It’s hard to tell colours on screen. The main yarn looks like it has a yellow undertone. I would vote for the Farmers Daughter or Walk for the contrast.

Is it possible for you to put the names of the patterns that are suggested in the description below the video's? That way I'm able to go look for them, my brains are going in the stressmode due to Lyme-desease.

The blue from the Farmers Daughter is lovely

I have fogged from the knit garment directly onto my swift. Works and saves time. The Rock-It Tee bass become a template for me as it fits beautifully. I have knit 4 tops from the pattern and they are all different yarn gets, lengths, sleeves etc. They range from really casual to dressy. I really like having good patterns that work as a recipe for the style where a little math provides the opportunity for many options.

What kind of needles are you using on the black top you showed at the end of video???

Seeing the Knit for soldiers and Red Cross reminded me of my grandmother. She was always knitting with white cotton(I think), it was about 2 inches wide and she would roll it up as it got longer, maybe 3 to 4 feet long. And it was sent off for maybe the Red Cross to use to wrap wounds. The only war at that time was the Vietnam war. Or maybe to poor African countries. She was a very loving woman! But she also wore those black shoes. They must have never worn out. I never saw them in a shoe store!

I laughed at the black shoes on the ladies on the old time photos. Absolutely my grandmother ALWAYS wore them. Luckily those of us at the same age now have other options! The Noro yarn looks absolutely stunning.
