A few weeks ago I uploaded a 5 minute long mamey sapote video on the Chef Buck recipe channel. So that’s what most of this video is. And here’s the 5 minute edited version ua-cam.com/vid...

    Mucho gracias! And how do you rinse your seafood: e.g. deveining shrimp, etc.? Do you live in the vicinitiy of a Walmart or Costco(e.g. Playa de Tijuana)? If you do, would you consider it a more sanitary resource for produce or meats? Again, thanks.

    Great video, subscribed. I wonder if in Ecuador you can order from Amazon or Ebay and have things delivered the same way as in the US. And medicine such as insulin if it's available as in the US pharmacies, if anyone knows drop a reply. Looks so calmer there than some cities in here. I would love to visit that little town some day. Great videos.

    Didn’t know the story of cruel dangerous female preying mantises that selfishly grab the flowers from the hopeful male and slam the door. But then I suppose this ritual is better than that of a certain species of spiders where the female eats the male after a night of romance 😂. Wow…but so many somnabulent bugs over there… I think you must have stepped on at least a few unlucky (but happy) ones. Despite the mosquito and venomous, amorous critters, San Miguel de Allende seems like a great place to spend time and explore. And that downpour must have been quite refreshing after all that hot weather.

      The rain brought a little cool weather, too...I even had my jacket on yesterday for a bit, and we pulled out a blanket to put on the bed! I think it's a brief respite, though. But we'll likely see more rain since the rainy season here in SMA is July and August

      Very little cooking at home, usually some combo of eggs and veggies with avocado, or a fruit salad. SMA is one of the pricier towns we've visited in Mexico, but eating in restaurants is still a great value compared to what we experience in the USA, so we're taking advantage of it.

      @@SlowpokeTravel I agree about food prices eating out. I now only patronize at 1 restaurant thats locally owned by a family near where I live. Otherwise everything else not only is way to expensive but also corporate owned. They may want my money but I rather cook at home.

    This story had everything As you told it it played out like a movie in my mind I have had my share of being robbed by an armed person. The first time the guy shoved the gun in my stomach and I just stood there and closed my eyes thinking this was the end of my life. Then I was robbed a few more times all in the same area, all in places I worked and all armed. Croissant sounds good.

My favorite part that had me laughing 😂 was when you brought out your black trash bag and put it on the counter next to the plate of cut fruit. I actually went back and watched the 5 minute video cause I didn't remember any trash bag in the cutting video. Always great to see a video from you and CG and thank you for the much needed laugh today. (It was a super stressful day) Look forward to your next travel video!! 🏜

    Speaking of Africa you ever think of travelling all the way over there sometime? Would be pretty cool! You ever seen Bone Tomahawk? That's another "non-traditional" Western movie that's also pretty dark and kinda brutal!

    • @SlowpokeTravel
      @SlowpokeTravel 3 місяці тому

      Holy cow...I've seen Bone Tomahawk a half a dozen times already! LOVE IT! The guy who made that movie, Craig Zahler, also made Dragged Across Concrete and Brawl in Cell Block 99. After multiple viewings, I've come to love Brawl in Cell Block 99, but I didn't love it at 1st. Dragged Across Concrete I need to watch again, cause I didn't love it. I've also read a few books written by Zahler--real gritty stuff. In fact, I think one of his books is being turned into a movie by Ridley Scott. I don't know if Zahler is writing the screeplay; it's based on his western novel Wraiths of the Broken Land, which is fantastic, and thematically similiar to Bone Tomahawk. Hopefully the movie gets made!

      I'm curious about that Ridley Scott film now... I'll keep an eye out for that one! I love the gritty/dark stuff. Speaking of books! There's this excellent book I read a couple years ago called "InHuman" by an Eric Leland if you're into Military novels and psychological horror, That's a good one! It's the only book I ever read that has physically disturbed me! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! If you're into that! ;)

    The view going forward is so much better than the rear view shots, thank you! 🤢 I do enjoy your ramblings, but I do miss the sweet bantering between you and CG in this episode. 💕

    Have you guys improved your Spanish? You spend so much time in Latin America. When I was in Italy for ten days and then again the next year for a week, I felt I had to try to learn and make an effort to speak Italian, just out of respect to the natives. My college Spanish helped a lot with Italian as the two languages are similar...I got laughed at in a good natured way by some of the Italians I met when my attempts to be understood glitched. The Italians appreciated the effort though. Thanks for the personal reminiscing and thoughts. Maybe you should have a written blog if you do not already. Twenty five years ago, when I started the process of emigrating to Denmark and marrying my Danish wife, I shuttled back and forth between the USA and Aarhus and that was an adventure to me at the time. Now I feel like I just took a sky bus a few times to a cushy suburb where the Danish government pampered me with free Danish classes and other forms of help offered to immigrants.

      Every time we've traveled to a Spanish speaking country, my Spanish has improved...until now. The tourist and expat omnipresence is so great where we're staying in San Miguel de Allende, that anything beyond our "polite Spanish" just gets in the way...usually I'm inspired to study Spanish because it makes communication easier, but it's pretty easy without Spanish here (kind of a drawback really--cause I enjoy the language challenge...there's just not much of a language obstacle here)
