My goal with this type of travel video is to provide some idea of what you can do here in Cuenca and what it might cost, but of course you can spend a lot more of less. There are a lot of options in Cuenca Ecuador, especially when it comes to dining out. Here's another video I made tracking our daily expenses in Cuenca • How Expensive is Cuenc...

Nice area. I have lived in one of these buildings almost 2 months. About 20 minute walk to El Centro. Thanks for sharing. I will say HI if I see you.

We lived very close to Parque Calderon for two months and then moved near the Batan mall for the final month...I liked both areas, and I change my mind back and forth about which area I prefered

Last year, me my wife, my sister-in-law and her husband had brunch at Cafe Urban….another time we ate dinner at an Italian restaurant across the street from that cafe.

Another beautiful day in Cuenca. Thanks. Your coffee shop was in Zona Rosa. You were right that was Commons across the street. In my online apartment searches this area has some of the most modern beautiful apartments. They run in the $700 range. In your area near Av. 12 de Abril they were selling 'small' one bedroom apartments, still under construction for $45K.

A waiter we saw regularly at Cafe Con Amor was always recommending that we go to Common Grounds Sports Bar but we never made it. There are so many new buildings going up in that area, and it is so walkable...I think I could be equally happy living in the older or the newer part of the city

@@SlowpokeTravel I know what you meen. I either want to end up in El Centro area or very close walking distance. The perfect apartment for me is for rent right now. Unfortunately I'm a year out. It's on Pa. 3 de Noviembre on the walking trail West of Av' Solano over looking the river.

@@larawhite5890 I go to Gringo Post and Yappa Tree to check on rentals. I can't move there for a year or so but like to check on prices, apartments and areas. I think these sights are a little Gringo priced. Most of the posts want a years lease but not all. I checked for you and Yappa Tree has a few short term rentals. I'll be therein November for Quenca Days.

I forgot about Apartmentos Orotongo. Nice clean apartments on the river. Not fancy. Not far from where you are. 1 bedrooms $6oo a month. Stay one day or forever. The owners, Javier and his wife live on site. Stop by and have them show you the apartments. They're great people.

Looks like you both are having a good time there. It looks very nice and clean. D you ride the train or is everything you want to see near by. The prices look very affordable also. Thanks and enjoy

It's easy to find inexpensive options, but it would be easy to spend a lot of money, too...you get a lot for your money, though. We walked everywhere in Cuenca and never made use of public transit, even for destinations that might take us almost an hour to walk to...the walkability of the city is a real pleasure

Hi, kids! My husband & I watch your vids on his account, but I wanted to subscribe so I could tell you how much we enjoy your vids. (He doesn’t tend to comment.) I’m guessing you’ll be gone from Cuenca by the time we finally move down there - about a year and a half - but if you’re still there, we’d love to say hi in person. Keep up the great work! And have more treats! #ReyyReinadelosPostres

Hi!...thanks a bunch for commenting...we're maxxing out a 90 day visa for our first go-round in Cuenca, but it's made our list for places we'll return to...we're kinda semi-scouting for places to retire (or at least I think that's what we're doing)

Yes, definitely on the upper end for dessert prices in Cuenca. This day out for my wife and I was fairly pricey, although compared to prices in the USA, it was a lot of value for the money. I like to show a wide range of costs in our travel videos. I think folks in the USA and Canada think that everything in Ecuador is super inexpensive, and relatively speaking, many things can be, but there is quite a wide range of options and costs, especially in Cuenca where there is such a large international community.

yes, we have paid less for similar amounts of produce, but we have also paid more in Cuenca, too...as travelers trying out different establishments in different neighborhoods, we encounter quite a range of prices
