In this video we go over my method for creating custom van door panels out of plywood. I utilize the dead space in the door by cutting out some of the sheet metal to make room for storage boxes inset into the door itself. This makes for a super clean panel that is contoured to the factory door curves and doesn't take up any space on the inside of the van. By having the panels flush, I can build...

    Only bad part of running electrical under floor is you have no access to either add or fix electrical problems in the wires under the floor. Example a wire gets hot and burns up, how do you replace it?

    • @drawersystems
      @drawersystems 20 днів тому

      Of course if you bury wires within the floor or a wall, then you have no way or a very hard time to access them. I try to always run an extra wire and leave it somewhere accessible in case I need to add something later on. Regarding your last comment, if the wires are all the correct size (for the application) and fused properly, there should be no or very little risk of burning up a wire. If a wire does burn up and it's under the floor or in a wall...it's likely that you will need to replace much much more than just the wire.

    • @tgland02494
      @tgland02494 20 днів тому

      @@drawersystems very true however sometimes devices cause the problem with the wires. As an example my PCM malfunction caused the pig tail to melt. But I understand what you’re saying. I was looking at your build because I might be buying a E350 passenger van instead of a cargo van

    I have a ford e150 1999 I'm learning how to put a flexi 100 watt on my hood. It seems to me that hood gets hot and that heat will come through to the 100 watt panel and destroy it. I'm unsure of how to do this properly. Some say I can just put the 3M double sided tape on my van hood and panel and it would be fine. Hmmm. I'm doing my research! It's exciting but scary. lol. I live in Oregon so not a lot of sun here all the time. But we get a lot of rain. How safe is it to leave those out in rain?

      Congrats on the new purchase! The seats weren’t easy to get out and I highly recommend using an impact tool. There will be holes and you can use to silicone to seal them up. Lastly solar panels should be fine in the rain but need to be secured properly to the vehicle.
