between what midland radio and amazon do the write up no wonder people don't get things right and everyone tells me I don't know anything I am the one at the table with a licensee since 2023 everything changed no middle power just F R S .05 watts under one G M R S is 5 watts and shairs F R S 15 through 22 as these are off repeater channels for G M R S radio that is why it has both .05 and 5 watts on the family service side.

the midland gxt1000vp4 is a 22 channel F R S and G M R S radio the other 142 so called channels are not channels there codes you can use to disapear from others we still hear you any way your radios will only talk to another radio with same code..

I haven't done any radio for over 20 years, and I'm ready to get back into it. Thanks for the comparison. I was thinking a lot about the 991a, but also the FTDX10, and a couple others. I really don't think I can make a bad choice. The big plus for the 991a is the VHF/UHF, but it's not necessary. I'm still thinking.

The problem with the T 800 compared to the T6oo is that the 800 model only has a maximum of 0.75 wattage that means you’re not gonna be able to penetrate pause through pretty much anything except for maybe eight homes in a neighborhood at least 600 has 1.31 max wattage and for some reason the T 400+460s have 1.7 maximum wattage I don’t know why Motorola does that the least amount of wattage possible it’s like you gotta get there 10 to 15 year old models from more wattage

Plus, it can be charged with any 12vdc source. Another biggie! 👍

Had an FT 60 before but something happened to the charging circuit. Bought a 70dr and the battery won't hold up. Getting another FT 60 around Christmas. It did a better job. N4TCM

My ts480hx is the best radio I've ever owned. Base od portable, qrp or qroc, I work dx every day on this radio. I would get another one tomorrow if I could find one.

That thing is a peice of shit! Hard for me to say that about a Motorola. But it’s shit quality, buy a XPR7550e at least and XTS or APX would be best. But you can’t do DMR with them. 7550e all the way.

Where can you go to look at these scanners?

I hold a federal F C C radio licensee and it is not 38 miles it is a made up number corperit made up as thay know nothing about the radio thay make and thay have no problum with a hundred dollars a week you spend to buy them every week and thay have very little seport in the back room to make a radio right thay probley don't know how to program you radio to talk to a radio tower anyway.

To anyone considering buying a Garmin Striker, know this. These units do not have a slot for a map card. To get any kind of maps you have to use the Garmin app, "ActiveCaptain" and download maps that other users might've have created. But, those users also have to upload their own maps to the site, before they're available to you. And if no one with the Garmin mapping feature has mapped the area you want and uploaded it, you're our of luck! That's also the ONLY way to get and install updates for your unit. Here's the rub, if your phone browser isn't new enough it won't support the app and there's no way to upgrade your browser. You literally HAVE to buy a new phone to use the app and update your unit! This would've been a deal breaker for me if I had known all this BEFORE purchasing my unit!

I got one and I love it! My old phone was a Blackveiw 9800 which use a Flir camera. The G2 is way better resolution.

Honest review - buggy, terrible video audio recording. Otherwise it's pretty good. A little on the bulky side, but I was a devout blackview user until this phone failed. NFC stopped working after an update and the camera remained active, draining the battery very quickly. A bit of a letdown but a pretty robust and quirky device. If blackview fix their terrible audio recording on video/audio only, I'll buy another.

Looking for some tips. I'd like to hear the squelch tail. I have turned off the STE via the menu. There are two other menu settings that are related to this. The settings are in a time selection. Open to some suggestions. I may be quite possible, the repeater owner has these settings off to eliminate the squelch tail.

Can someone point me to some station on shortwave that is WORTH listening to? Something that is not (a) political/communist propaganda and (b) Christian evangelical crap.

Mine lasted 2.5 years of constant abuse. Towards the end i got condensation in the camera lens so was no longer water resistant. It was battered and heavily worn. Never missed a beat. Then i accidentally left it on the side of a forklift and as i drove off, it fell off and i went over it. Screen destroyed but when i got in my van, it hooked to the radio and worked as normal through the vans entertainment system. It was however beyond repair. Basically this phone is an absolute tank that i have purposely abused and i couldn't recommend it enough

Two big problems with this phone: No internal audio recording... official it's possible, but almost everything is blocked... The buttons on the side have very little resistance but more: they are on the wrong place.. When you grab the phone you take it by the middle on both sides , especially while it's heavy. thereby pressing two buttons, one on each side. So two actions start unwanted while you just wanted to grab the phone......very annoying.... After 20 times you get very bored with it.
