They say it's a BAD OMEN! — But the snow turned fun again!
I didn't plan for it... But it just happened that today was also a full eclipse day, About 96% eclipse on Mount Snow, VT... Some lifts and faces of the mountain got closed for the watch party. And while everyone was chilling and staring into the disappearing sun, the spring snow was re-freezing with every passing minute. It was no dilemma here. Moon covering the sun will always take backseat over a good run at the end of season! If this was our last day of 23-24, it was epic!

First time visiting Pico Mountain. Last week they got 27" of fresh snow, and even though it is spring, and everything melts fast, the mountain was completely opened with all its glades and trails. Not knowing much about this place we were in exploration mode and had a blast. We shall be back! First Time Skiing MAGIC Mountain - Uphill + Black Wooded Diamonds Top to Bottom!

First time visiting #Magic Mountain, Vermont. Very cool place all around. You can skin up even when it's completely closed. The uphill trail zig-zags through the woods, and is more fun than what most resorts can offer. And the gamut of options on the way down, esp through the woods it's amazing. I did two loops, first headed down through the glades all the way to the bottom. Second cruised the ...

Weather's never a factor. It's not often conditions improve by the minute as the day progresses. And this time, #MOUNTSNOW lived up to its name and delivered. The glades were still a lil scrappy💥 sounding, but for the first time, it felt like you could ski anywhere. North Face had chopped up inches of freshies. Even without sun, I'd say it was some of the best fun I've had all year. Has winter ...

First time at #BROMLEY! The plan? Skin up at dawn and see if the conditions inspire me to stay for the day. To my surprise, in my ascent, many were already free-heeling down with headlamps and lanterns. Everyone I talked to, from the office to ski patrol, were great and friendly people, and the terrain, just staring at it from above, looked exciting. They call it the "Sun Mountain"-well, not to...

    • @Type1FunDay

      Hey Dennis, in this video the camera used is "Insta360 X3". It records with two lenses, full sphere, so in post production you can choose which direction it faces, or what you want framed for the final video. It can also do auto-tracking, so if you pick the "human" as the object to track, it just puts you in the center of the video.... It comes with a "selfie stick", that is automatically erased by the software, so you never see it in the video. I run the end of the stick through my backpack loops, so it sticks out behind me. As you can see in the shadows. Hope this helps, if you have more questions let me know. Maybe we should make a video on these things. :) - J

    I know this is a year old or so, but there is another viable ski 3 option for that area. Catamount, Bousque and Berkshire East. Which also could be combined with the Indy add-on Pass to include more northerly mountains. Catamount competes nicely with the Catskills in travel time from the greater NYC area.

    skiing the path of the old great eastern trail, the original. the best expert top top to bottom run at Killington is Catwalk > High Traverse > Launch pad > Bittersweet > Vertigo head wall > The Stairs > Carpenters run> Home strech/Greateastern > Valley Plunge. that is the best top to bottom for an expert, in the humble opinion someone who has skied at Killington since he was 3.

    This is a great video! The weight on the heels tip might fix my issue. My skis are relatively short and center mounted. Every now and then I'll pop off a jump and feel that my ankles and toes want to point downward too far. This leaves me terrified that my tips are going to snag. When I jump outside of skiing, I usually take off from my toes and they end up pointed down in the air. I think that's what's messing me up.

    How would you rate this for a new skier who’s taken lessons and gone by themselves a couple of times? Feasible without looking like a fool?

    • @Type1FunDay
      @Type1FunDay 7 місяців тому

      I dont think it should be about "looking like a fool" but rather being confident that you can stay in control all the way down. If you can, then this is fun trail. We have friends who only skied for 2 days and went up Hunter to ski this. I am not sure I would recommend it to others to go so early. But it is true that this is the easiest way down from the very top and so if a brave beginner or intermediate skier wants to go to the very top, get the views and enjoy long slide down this is the way. And overall it is not too bad. But there might be some risks... 1- it could be overcrowded (esp on weekends) with skiers who have mixed bag of skills, some might be fast, some zigzaging, some learning, some out of control. So, if there is tone of people on this trail, it may not be "that much fun", after all it is a "belt parkway" meaning it is kinda narrow, with a rock wall on one side. 2- several spots in the upper section are a bit narrow or icy. The mountain sheds water and it turns into ice, if there was not snowfall or if they didn't make new snow, the scraped areas could be pretty icy. Once you get over those the rest is probably okay. I think you can always start on the left side of the mountain, and work your way to the right. The slopes are progressively more steep. And if you can comfortably ski the blue ones from the "red poles" lift, then yuo can very likely ski this as well.

    • @skiwithgenerationsnow
      @skiwithgenerationsnow 7 місяців тому

      I think if you have tried a blue before it shouldnt be too hard. The hardest pert would be the top section, after that it is pretty mellow

  • @philippejoseph8604
    @philippejoseph8604 8 місяців тому

    A very long time ago you could, when geting out of the tunnel, "jump" directly in the slope or even going left to get a more comfortable and not over riden line ( when and if the snow was soft enough ).

  • @daneg
    @daneg 8 місяців тому

    posting before i watch to see the actual route, but if memory servers, the longest possible route is boring af because it's a green trail that goes from killington peak all the way to the bottom of the mountain on the far side of the ski resort, and you're almost polling your way for long stretches.

    • @daneg
      @daneg 8 місяців тому

      Yeah you can make the top more exciting with some blues and then there are greens towards the bottom. I think what you are thinking of is a run called Solitude that yes, the first 20 mins or so is basically cross country skiing, pretty much flat and then it turns into a long mellow green in the woods.
