    This is amazing. My previous trainer\farrier beat my 2 yr old filly with a rasp bc she couldn’t stand still. She has since become very nervous about having her feet touched and would break her halter or fly back. I tried your way of grabbing the toe this morning and she wasn’t tied or anything. What a night and day difference in cooperation. Thank you so much for making these videos

    Dennis that didn't look very good ...sorry but what's the purpose of widening his hands? Maybe for a young horse but for a beginner rider there's a better way to manage his reins in m my opinion. Thanks for Video.

    • @cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
      @cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing 5 днів тому

      @@TroyReinholdt-fz2ds you are entitled to your opinion . I have him widen the reins so that it doesn’t pinch the horses mouth from pulling back . And so the the horse doesn’t push down in on the bit . This is a mild way of giving the horse a resin to carry herself in a more lifted posture that allows for more engagement behind . Thus horse is very green and needs some help to improve her forward motion and carriage . This is a snap shot of a specific time for a specific reason this does not mean that we ride in this position all the time it is to achieve our purpose

      @cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing understood. My opinion that's for an experienced Rider not for a new rider without the understanding of what he/she is trying to achieve. A Bump and release is more effective and gives the horse an opportunity for understanding. I wouldn't worry so much about how he's carrying his head. I'd worry about his understanding and offering up ways for him to get a release. Dennis ive watched alot of your stuff and think its great. Like you im old and have been a riding Coach for more than 30 years, I feel some things are best left to the trainers and let our new riders develop their rein management as maybe that's the most important aspect of management of feet. My opinion thanks for your video looking forward to seeing more. Riding and Driving Coach for Connections Riding School Salinas CA

    This video shows the insane level at which Mr Cappel rides at… At 7:35 Mr Cappel feels the wrong lead before it even happens. Even behind this keyboard I had to replay it 3 times to try and see what he felt. It’s one thing to feel it but then he proceeds to correct it!! Holy cow! The timing and feel it takes to be able to do that is no small ask. Then he is able to talk through the ride and lesson!!! Good lord that’s crazy. I know I don’t have that bandwidth yet, but it is beautiful to see. The results are in the video, a horse between your legs, off your hands, and listening for the next ask. Also very elegant way of saying the horse is good, it’s the humans that get in the way. Not everything needs a tool or is the horses fault. I appreciate that you defend the horse and make it feel safe/comfortable. On to the next one!

    Dennis a lot of horse owners, especially beginner and female owners (this includes me and is just an observation !), would immediately jump to a vet evaluation of the horse. When you get a horse like this what is your first consideration ? Out of all the horses you’ve gotten with a problem like this horse, how many have ended up with a medical rather than behavioral issue ? I find cowboys rarely seem to have horses with medical related behavioral issues whereas most of the amateur horse owners I know have the vet out every other day (again this includes me !😅)

In high performance horses they are often needed for soundness issues . Now having said that to cover my behind and not offend the Veterinarian industry . Most behavioral problems are found between the ears of spoiled horses that have owners ,due to a lack of understanding of what to do,that allow them to act in un wanted ways . Well presented boundaries and freedom between them produce miraculous results in most horses . @@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing I have a question for you. How would you shoe a horse with wobbles? Young horse that is two years old was diagnosed with wobbles and is making good progress with adjustments. Can lift all legs. Working with him with his back legs using your trick using straps to get use to lifting his back legs. Should a strap harness be the trick?

      @louiseregan2498 Things like this are a case by case situation. If there is some type of neurological disorder going on you might have to adapt your approach to what ever fits best with this particular situation . Probably not a trick to fix but a learning experience for you to see what you can do to get this horse comfortable while doing what you want it to do . Which is the implementation of your clear mental picture . Good luck and if one thing isn’t working try something else until you find what does work for you and your horse
