    Picture framers use a tape dispenser gun to apply double-sided tape to the back of the frame to hold the brown, paper dust cover in place. You could buy one of these to use on your bulletin board. Amazon sells them for about $50.00.

    Brilliant! I am really over the fact that textbooks are not all encompassing. Things don't really change that much to where students need to "google" everything. I feel like learning has gotten lazy with the invention of the internet. You are a great teacher!

    But Rachel, What do you do with students who took advantage of the sub day when you the teacher come back? - Dwight

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent Місяць тому

      I deal with it individually, so it's hard to say. If it was a whole class situation, I'll have students write letters to their parents explaining what happened and their role it in. But most of the time, it's a smaller group of students, so I'll have conversations with them separately and deal with it based on the student.

      It's hard, but you have set a time you're comfortable with and leave no matter what. Will things go undone...yes, but I know for me, when I stay late, things go undone at home. So we're really deciding which area of our life are we will to let slide.

    Well Rachel, As long as you are reminding them without micro managing them then I'd say way to go because I am proud of you for allowing them to get their talking out because the only real time that kids ever get to talk with their friends is at school but remember that still if a student wants to talk with their friend they are going to make a way to do it regardless and the sitting down part really only works if the student is seated next to their friend or the other student who they get along well with. Just as teachers live under that dilemma of having to balance pleasing the powers that be of education with meeting student needs the students also live under that dilemma of seeing their friends while being dictated at school and being more free while being separated from their friends and being reduced to the little family bubble at home. - Dwight

      I would just ask if anyone is interested in splitting the planning. Decide who is going to plan what subjects and how you will share with each other. We create our team plans on a Google Doc and all add our subjects that we plan to the document. Then we each make a copy of the plans to make any personal adjustments.

    Your new room looks so nice! How do you like the oddly shaped tables so far? Do you have a video on your Thursday folders and the weekly report thing you mentioned when looking at your drawer? I'm curious about your deal drawer files in general. Paper is so hard. I teach 2nd and not sure if i want to do weekly or daily folders. I'd also love to see inside a drawer or two of your rainbow paper drawers. I'm thinking of trying that because I i also like organizing by subject instead of day. Are they wide enough to stagger stack a regular sized piece of paper? What do you do if something won't fit inside them?

    • @msrachelvincent

    That is my scenario. School starts in a few days I was just given a classroom and it's all empty and just has desks and chairs. I am a first year high school teacher for 9th graders. @@msrachelvincent Thank you for that. Sometimes it's hard to remember we all started in a similar way. I was getting discouraged that my classroom wasn't as put together as other teachers. I went out and spent so much money and it's still nowhere near what I would like it to be.
