    I absolutely love watching your videos! I am at that point where I'm spinning my wheels: I have stuff prepped to a point, but need into my classroom to get the things I need to finish them. And we can't get back in until the 29th either. I'm about to make a run to Sam's Club to get yet another case of cardstock to prep some more.

    📝I had typically used them for after lunch or end of the day. I think it’s a great idea to use Must Do/May do for workshop! I’m going to try that this year! I think for math, I’m definitely doing something different. I like to do fact fluency games as a center but may have to rethink it. It would get too loud.

    You will NOT be disappointed with the Frog Tape. I just purchased my roll for this year. Two years ago I purchased birthday farm animals at Target. I finally used them this past year, and the kids loved it! The Birthday Chicken 🐓 was the primary animal, but I had a Birthday Cow 🐄 and a Birthday Horse for those days with multiple birthdays. I can't believe how close the time is getting.

    I had a tent that I got from Amazon for $30 that I had when I taught Head Start. It was mainly for looks in 4th grade, but I had 2 kids that would need it to calm. It had "windows" so I could still check in on them. I had a timer for it, but no one ever went over 5 minutes. On birthdays or meeting goals, they could get a ticket to do work on a lapboard in the tent, too. I'm not doing it this year so I can rearrange my library. I will use a calming kit, which is a cute canvas container where I keep stress balls (a Pokémon ball and a d20), quiet fidgets, and some bubblers.

    Hello! I just found your channel and am loving your videos. Question for you, what do you do with papers your team gives you and your not sure yet if your going to use it or may possibly find it worthy to keep as a reference for the future? I get a good handful of papers weekly and my papers just stack and when I get time to organize I end up getting overwhelmed and just chunk them.

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent 5 днів тому

      Since I organize by subject, I'll just throw it in corresponding drawer and use it or file it later. If I decide to file it for later, I'll only keep one copy. But honestly, when decided if I should keep it depends on what it is. If it's just a practice sheet, I'll toss it know I probably have something similar digitally.

      In SC, we get a stipend every year for purchases and I'll use that money for anything consumable or used by the students. For other things like my carpet and chair, I purchase out of pocket. Keep in mind, I've been in the classroom for 20 years, so I didn't purchase this all at once.

    whew!! I had to pause at the 6:03 mark and play that again! "Part of my job is to get them ready for..." If more of us as teachers kept this mindset about providing opportunities for students to use the resources/skills that we are teaching while in class, that is TRUE teaching!! Thank you for saying this so eloquently!! You are proof of those of us who are not just teaching to the test. I am sure that when students leave your class, they leave with the skills to use their notes to do their best and in turn, take good notes to continue doing their best! Thanks for sharing!

    How does the group tally system work? They have fifteen tallies for hallway behavior... Are they working on earning anytjing?

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent 11 днів тому

      So the group system is for mostly transitions and groups that are ready. They move up the gameboard and when they reach the top they get a water bottle sticker. The tallies for the hallway aren't always for the hallway. Each Friday during our class meeting, we discuss what's going well in our classroom and what needs improvement. Students vote on what they want our goal to be from our needs improvement list. They work toward extra recess or free time on Fridays.

    This is probably wayyyy late. I used folders. The students had three folders but only two at a time. One was for long term assignments, writing, unit work, anything that took more than one week. These were usually the items that I was going to grade. The other two folders rotated. Friday, the students turned in the previous week folders and received the next week's folder. Then we would spend ten minutes or so passing out the following week's papers. Spelling, vocab, grammar, weekly math work, any binder paper, white paper, notebook pages for the following week, and quick writes, they would need. The group was responsible for making sure any absent student's work would get into their folder. The students would get a grade for these assignments but it was more a check to make sure they were completed. By having two folders, I could grade one the following week and the students would still have a folder to use. The longer assignments got more attention. When it was time to turn these in, the entirety of the assignment ie rubric, self or peer graded and then improved upon, notes, steps to solved, failed attempts, rough, and final, would be stapled together. I would create a folder for that assignment with the class list. The students would highlight there name on their assignment and their name on the folder. Then I could quickly see whose paper was not turned in by checking highlighted names and it helped names be on the papers.

      That's a really interesting way to do it! I like the idea of rotating folders every week.
