Grazing: Strip Grazing with Tumble Wheels
Переглядів 1,6 тис.8 місяців тому
One of the easiest ways to strip graze an open pasture or field is with tumble wheels. There are many different ways to utilize strip grazing depending on your context and situation along with watering points, temperatures and shade, equipment, etc. It doesn't take the cattle long to figure out there is some fresh food coming their way when you start moving the wheels.
Grazing: Rotational
Переглядів 13010 місяців тому
In this video, the cattle being moved are in a rotational grazing system where they get moved every 2-3 days. This is not a "Mob" or "Amp" grazing where they get smaller paddock sizes and higher density, but it is what works for the context (as Gabe Brown would add) of this herd, land, and farm.
Grazing Silvopasture

Grazing a wooded area is a great way to enhance your property, both aesthetically and profitably. Grazing a silvopasture offers many benefits in every season from shade and moisture retention along with providing shelter from the wind.
Cornish Cross' Last Move: Preparing for the Processor
Переглядів 30311 місяців тому
It's a bittersweet day as the Cornish Cross Broilers are going to the processor. There are a few things to take care of before they go like making sure they don't have food 24 hours prior to processing and making sure they are well hydrated and comfortable.
Weaning the pigs! They are a bit crabby.

The first couple days after weaning are the hardest for both mom and baby. However, it doesn't take long before they get used to their new accomodations!
Quick Update-Cornish Cross at 7 Weeks
Переглядів 24411 місяців тому
We are currently at 7 weeks old with our Cornish Cross Broilers and have one week till harvest! They are looking good and right on track for being a great size for the freezer. Whether they are used for baking, smoking, broiling, or parting out we should be able to utilize these birds for all of our areas of need.
Why I Planted 36 Zucchini!
Переглядів 27411 місяців тому
My animals LOVE zucchini! If it weren't for the the drought we are in, they could maybe keep up with the amount my pigs and chickens would consume. Zucchini is a great tasting food and along with many health benefits it can help make you feel like a successful gardener!
Preparing Meat Chickens for the Heat
Переглядів 64Рік тому
Heat is possibly the hardest thing for animals to deal with. In this video I use 3 methods to try to make the upcoming heat bearable for my cornish cross meat chickens. Clean fresh water, air movement with fans, and additional shade is hopefully going to help.
Baby Pigs! And Realities of Being a Caretaker
Переглядів 286Рік тому
Raising healthy animals is a priority on my property, but sometimes things don't work out the way I hoped. Although death is a part of life and these animals will be supplying us with meat, there is still a sadness when there is a death on the farm.
Cornish Cross Broilers Moving from Brooder to Hoop House
Переглядів 271Рік тому
These chicks have been living rent free for 3 weeks now and it's time for them to move out! On a serious note, they are finally outside being able to express their chickenness (if that's a word) by doing what chickens are meant to do, eat grass, bugs, and absorb sunlight.
Cane Pole Fishing for Northern Pike
Переглядів 363Рік тому
By far, my favorite way of fishing is for Northern Pike using a bamboo cane pole. There is always a change in scenery and typically lots of action. The following link shows how to take the Y-Bones out of a Northern Pike: ua-cam.com/video/C2zGGoj67D0/v-deo.html
Filleting a Northern Pike Taking out Y Bones

Once the Y-Bones are removed, there is nothing better than a Northern Pike! If you are a beginner at filleting and boning a fish, my advice to you is to be patient and keep practicing. Once you master it there are so many ways to enjoy this fish. If you want to skip ahead to a specific spot, see the following times: 0:00-2:23- Removing the Fillets 2:23-3:36- Removing the Ribs 3:36-6:47- Removin...
The Grass is Greener on the Other Side! Moving to Greener Pastures!
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
I've always been told the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but in this case it surely is! In this video I use temporary pigtail posts with braided poly wire and a 3:1 reel to set up a laneway for the move. Taming these girls up as much as we have made the move more difficult as they aren't afraid of us and focus more on the grass than the move.

How I make charcoal to feed to my animals.

How I make charcoal to feed to my animals.
I just used my new Wen sander. Nice. Mine has the motor mounted off the head. It’s still a chore to sand ceilings. The motor heats up to burning hot pretty quickly. Anyone else have the same problem?
Sanding overhead is taxing to say the least. I've never had the heating up issue. Hope all turns out well for you.
I too did want to0 see it in normal speed at least for a bit. I am impressed with your mud work. The fact you use boxes tells me you know what you are doing and are a much better finisher than myself. If you like this machine, than that says a lot. Further, I see you didn't use a particle mask until you started hand sanding tells me how effective the dust collection is. You scooted right through the job in what, 30 minutes? Thanks for posting. Nice video work too.
Thanks for the comment @Tito1984, it's much appreciated!
Good idea to leave part of skin.
It works well for me. Thanks for the comment!
Good work in the tight hallway.
It can certainly be a bit tricky. My worst nemesis are the small closets.
You need to find some new hangers I'll be back charging the hangar
There are certainly ways to make the tapers life much less stressful! Keep up the good work.
I keep coming back to these series man super comprehensive, thanks for making these! they're a gem for DIYers with a knack for the best tools to use for X- application. Wish me luck
Glad you like them and good luck to you!
Hello sr thank you for letting us know about this machine is amazing. I will get one today .
Good luck to you. It has worked well for me!
It was still alive. I saw it kick
It may have been nerves involuntarily twitching. I assure you it wouldn't have swam away if placed back in the lake.

Can you save some eggs for me I want to egg Mr. Leoms house
I'm not sure I can condone your aspirations!
Darn fly
Nom nom nom
Best UA-camr ever
Thanks you Jocelyn!
Great ideas. I do NOT miss below zero winters! Lol. More things to consider- What's the cost to haul away all the insides? Wear a good mask. Fyi. Mice poo & pee cause Hanta virus 60% fatal. Also, our land's previous owner gutted a kitchen in an old tiny mobile home , left a pile outside. The particle board everything is made of don't burn easy- lotza glue & plastic & grossness. I had to sift thru it, remove wood for burn pile & haul off the water logged cabinets & etc. We have free landfill, but I know thats not true for all states. ALSO, red mites are pretty bad in chicken coups so PAINT your coup. Red mites will destroy their feet. Just saying.
Thank you for your information. We have a company pick up garbage every 2 weeks so whatever isn't burnable goes down the road.
Rotto zip guy sucks, hangers suck
Yes, there are times I'd like to walk back out!
I love this I'm converting a 60's Avion to a chicken cottage
It has been working great for me. Good luck to you!
Thank you, I recently started my drywall company but was doing everything by hand. Because of you I bought my tape tech tool set, thank you🙏🙏
Wonderful! Good luck to you!
I love the ingenuity!
It's amazing what is available when you start learning.
In Africa they are use the charcoal... any clean charcoal...to whitening the teeths. It really works !Just brush your teeth with charcoal powder. Glory be to God.
Many uses!
Thanks, very informative, I’m going to try this.
I hope it turns out well for you!
great video just wonding you are so organized with machine tools - do you evre use a nail spotting tool to apply mud over the scews a little quicker?
I would love to try one! From what I've seen they are pretty nice.
Why in the world did you fast forward the video when running the tool ??? I wanted to see how much dust it sucks in ?????? I guess I’ll try another video. You done all that talking but then fast forward the machine part you can tell dropouts who gets in construction.
I have never thought to check how much gets sucked into the vacuum bag. Thanks for your question, it intrigued me check the next time.
Where do you get your organic food besides out of the garden?
I have a feed mill about 45 minutes away from my house that deals in organic feed. They source much of their grains from Iowa, from what I'm told.

You just convinced me to buy one. Love your straightforward instruction style. Keep it up!
I hope it works out for you. I found the finer grit leaves fewer unintentional lines.
Where do you buy your bazooka tool thing from and how much roughly price wise,?
I purchased mine online through All Wall.com and I think it was around $1400.
Be careful with that wedding ring on. I’ve had guys brake fingers ( one lost a finger ) when ring got caught in something on the job. Was first thing the old timers taught us when I started in construction ….
You are absolutely correct! I know some older local guys who lost a finger due to their ring. Theirs were due to farming but the same thing applies here. Thanks for the info.
Just curious who is accountable for the poor sheet rock hanging. Will that reflect your pricing?
They are students who build the house for a class in school. This is most likely their first time hanging drywall and is intended to spark interest in the trades. Normally it would justify a price increase, but for this situation no. Thanks for the question!
I like what you're doing, keep up the good work.
Much appreciated!
Festool and mirka make a padded pad saver, it will fit on the wen, makes a world of difference, about $15.00us.
Thats awesome to know! Does that reduce some of the unintentional scratching?
What are you feeding your Red polls? I assume pasture in the summer and hay in the winter along with a mineral block. Any grain at all?
No grains. The only treat they get is about 5-6 alfalfa cubes once a month.
@@redpineridgefarm330 Ok great...thanks.
Were trying this with our Berkshires soon.
I was surprised how they dove in when I gave it to them. Good luck!
Hampshire makes a good porkchop regardless. I like your style though.
Thank you! It is a bit more work but I believe it is worth it in the end.
@redpineridgefarm330 I haven't figured out the way to make any money from chickens or pigs where I am. Without starting my own processing facility. We only have one for about 3 counties and they charge $50.00 dollar kill bill, and .50 per pound to process. So for a 300lb hog that's $200.00 right there. Those prices may be higher now as it's been 3 years since I had one processed. We kill our own for ourselves but can't legally do it for anyone else. Our 50lb sack of whole corn that was $8.00 is now right at $15.00. I'm land rich (mountain woodlot), financially poor. So covering feed cost from May to September for 10 pigs would be out of the question. Another issue I have is that most people where I live have at least been a part of raising a hog themselves at one point or another. So they don't want to pay someone else to do it. A lot of folks now have become cut snobs as well. Like turning a bunch of cows into new pasture, they only want to eat the sweet stuff. We only want the chops, or the hams or the ribs or the tenderloin. Selling a whole or half hog isn't appealing. Imagine if the local grocery store only sold whole chickens. Everyone would look like Fred Sanford about to go see Elizabeth when they want to cook a bunch of wings for the game. It's a tough niche to get into even if breaking even at the end is your only goal. I applaud you Sir!
your videos are priceless. thank you
Glad you like them! Thanks for the comment.
where does he share his video with us?.
Tip: keep a rare earth magnet in pocket, keeps drywall knife handy. Good video, I acquired a few tips.
Thats awesome! Thanks
i always prime the exposed brown paper with an oil based primer of it has a chance to bubble
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for your videos really good job
Glad you like them!
Really good job and explained thanks for your time put on the video 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Nice gravy work, wish I didn't have to do ceilings. Me and my boy would blow through 4 of those a day and still not put in 8 hours
Best moments Sunday 😊mr
Lol, thanks for watching!
Chickens too?
Commented to soon.
Lol!
Wow,real handsome happy pigs. New to your vlog. Maybe I’ll figure out where u r. B
Welcome to the channel! We are in Central Minnesota.
whT GRIT SAND PAPER DO YOU USE
I use a 220 grit with the power sander and a 150-180 when using the pole sander.
New here.
Welcome and thanks you!
If you have chickens feed it to them very good especially during winter.
Great idea! I remember Joel Salatin feeding meat chicks liver because they were deficient in something found in liver, could have been iron.
“He’s contained!” I like that🤣👍🏻
Are you classing pressing your tape off ? That butt join in particular doesnt look like its had a 1st ? All looks shtick though brother 👌
I'm not sure I understand what classing pressing means. We do wipe the tape and press the mud from behind when applying it.
I have a 55 gallon drum and a 35 gallon drum. I cut three 1/2 notches in the top of the 35 gallon drum where the ring is. It's open topped. Pack it with oak. Put it open topped down in the 55 gallon drum. Pack around it with old pallet wood is what I use. Light it up. Put the lid on the 55 gallon drum. I cut a hole in the center and have a stove pipe on it. When the oak starts gassing off. It will take over and burn until it's done. About 4 hrs. Important. Let it sit 24 hrs before taking it out. No oxygen can get to while its still hot. I learned this the hard way. Lol. As long as it's oak. I use it for cooking. It burns up pretty fast on the grill tho. Great for steaks and burgers. I also feed it to my hogs and cows.
Good info David! Thanks for sharing.
Love the hat
Trying to start a trend!
