Does anyone know if I can access the AMEX Centurion Lounges if I'm traveling in Delta's Basic Economy paid with my AMEX Business Reserve card? Nowhere does it indicate a Basic Economy travel cannot use the Centurion Lounge. It does make clear Basic Economy travelers have no access to Delta SkyClub.

Should I upgrade my gold to the reserve? I mean I kinda like the gold for restaurants I already have the platinum as well I’m silver medallion atm

yea how? my purple wants me to spend 75k before end of year. i just got the card like 4 months ago. also the ability to earn enough miles to get a free trip are almost impossible for me, i would have to fly to tokyo from los angeles every week for an entire year.

I have the Barclays Red Aviator card and it is great for the matching miles, upgrades, companion tickets, free bags, etc. I only use this card for buying airline tickets as I get much better rewards on other cards like my Tractor Supply Card for gas, groceries and vets. With that said, I am considering switching to the Citi Executive card because it offers a few more rewards but at a higher fee but I would use the Admirals Club often. The money I save eating in the Admirals club, rewards for TSA and luggage, companion tickets etc, would make up for the higher cost just not having to spend $20-$100 on airport food at each layover. If you fly often then the Executive card is great but if you fly infrequently than the Red Aviator card is best. Now that I am retired I buy airline

Unlike Matt, I don't carry an airline card in my setup. My travels alternate between flying and road trips. Even when flying where I live United, American or Southwest can be viable airlines for a large number of destinations (Delta is a spoke for us - only useful for flying to their hubs). As such I am NOT assured of getting positive value every year out of a specific airline credit card.

For the hotel cards there is also the IHG Premier card which carries a modest annual fee and provides a free hotel night each year (up to 40,000 points). This is a good card for those who like staying at Holiday Inn hotels.

Lately thinking about downgrading CSR to CSP since I'll mainly use point redemptions for Hyatt. Not sure that Lounge usage, DD credits, and increased ins coverage is enough to outweigh the additional $325 for two AUs.

I have the Aviator Silver card for two reasons, 2x miles on hotels and 3x miles on AA purchases. If this card goes away, Citi better thrill me with their AA card offering lest I just go with some Capital One crap.

Excellent and very educational. I would like to get better at the points game someday. I have United Explorer, Southwest Priority and Hilton Aspire and Surpass. These have been straight forward and solid for me for where we fly from/to and where we stay. I just can't seem to pull the trigger on catch all cards or member reward cards as a most have a bunch of credits that I know I'll never use. If anything....and I have to dig deep here.....I'm eyeing the AmEx Green card and/or Chase Preferred. Any advice on those? It's just that one has to WORK AT IT to stay on the credits and stay focused.

Tfs Matt. I've had the Delta Reserve card sonce last yr. I LOVE it. The no baggage fees, lounge access before AND after my flights, and the hotel credits are great for me. Add the status boost & upgrades and I'm keeping it unless the annual fee gets too crazy.

11/1/24 United has targeted offers for multipliers. Now untill the end of the year the Gateway has added x3 resturants, dept stores and wholesales clubs . Not a bad idea for holiday shopping. The offer has to be activated in the offer email. I have it to pair united business for its annual 5k personal pairing bonus. You don't earn pqp's I believe

Auth Users on the CSR having the same card number, CVV, and Ex date are a non starter. Capital One does Authorized Users and Account Managers correctly to me

I'm leaning toward the Preferred right now because it has the 3x streaming points and I don't do a lot of travel. Once I start traveling more, I may switch over to the Reserve.

Currently have (2) Aspire cards in my household and we love them. I’ve been a Hilton loyalist for almost (10) years now and get tremendous value from these cards. Highly recommend for anyone that travels either on business or leisure at least 5X a year. The Aspire card is a game changer for sure.

What is the best point redemption you have used?

Question: I booked a First class ticket from Austin Tx to Seattle Wa. I applied for Amex card (gold). Being that I have a first class ticket, do i get any access to the club? Also, if not, are we able to buy the access of 50.00pp possible with the sky miles?

I currently hold the platinum and was thinking about adding the reserve card and despite the $650 annual fee, it pays for itself and more in value with one trip by utilizing the perks such as a companion person flying for free with lounge access including upgrades. Even though I don't fly often, it's worth it.

My preference is the Delta Reserved Card. I am a member and by holding this card, and adding my wife's additional card, I have saved money. For example, the card is great for access to the Centurion Lounge and Delta Sky Clubs. We save at least $100 per visit as we eat and drink on every layover. It is great. That alone has saved us around $300 per round trip, almost half of the membership fees. Also, for the first time, I took advantage of the companion certificate benefit; I purchased tickets to Cancun and we are flying first class with my daughter paying for 2 tickets instead of 3! That saved me $600+ so at this point, I cover the membership fee and more. Not to mention, we earned Sky Priority status with all the benefits of our Medallion status.

With the AMEX card you can pay a small fee (per auto rental) to have the card serve as primary insurance. I believe it’s two tier fee. I usually go for the 100k protection being $25ish. I currently use AMEX P, VX and CSP. Considering getting the CSR in the near future. Using the AMEX card is the easiest for my travel. I had a few bad incidents with the VX travel portal in Mexico. Might be time to upgrade my CSP card.

Man, I just don’t understand paying those fees. All the benefits are tied behind a set of rules that make it difficult to use. Raising those fees, really kills the worth these cards had.

I’d pick the United club card between the three as it has great perks like unlimited airline lounge access and primary CDW. And you get more checked bags free

Aviator Silver and Executive are the combo for anyone aiming for AA status. Other than that, chasing status is a tall order for most people.

For me, the United club card is worth it for the lounge access alone. The IHG/Avis status bumps, along with the extra ways to bank miles make the card pay for itself in my opinion... as long as we pay it off :)

I do like the reserve, but as far as the upgrade list it doesnt do much for you. It’s an airline that targets more of the elite with their incredibly high spend to meet status. So, even if you have their CC it doesn’t really put you that much higher since people with status usually overtake you

Question - On the platinum companion certificate, can you use it and, then, choose to upgrade your seat for a fee as you usually allowed to do?
