MOAB Wander Teaser Trailer

Jeep adventures in Moab, Utah, are an exhilarating way to explore the stunning red rock landscapes of the American Southwest. I FINALLY had the opportunity to make the trip down to the mecca of off-road. Checkout this ...
Dynatrac ProRock JK Axle Swap

One of the reasons I bought a Rubicon, was for the front and rear dana 44 axles equipped with electronic lockers. That being said, the trails I have been going on are getting much more demanding, and I want a bit more peace of mind out on the trails. It's time for an axle swap! I've heard many Jeep folk say, if you're doing one-tons, you MUST go 8-lug; and if you're going 40s (or bigger) and ha...

We were NOT prepared for the MacKenzie River Trail!

I was invited on a trip to the MacKenzie River Trail; this trail is often referred to as the "Red Mountain" trail. It is another one of Alberta's more challenging trails. To call this trail narrow is an understatement; it cuts through a thick forrest in the Cardinal River basin; has several steep climbs, off-cambers and an deep washout section; it has all the makings of an epic adventure! Jeep Rubicon Electronic Swaybar Disconnect Repair 2.0!
Переглядів 4,4 тис.8 місяців тому
One of the reasons I bought the Rubicon package in 2012, when I was in the market for a Jeep, was the electrinic swaybar disconnect. But as with most vehicles, these luxury items often fail. My sway bar was acting up once again, so I decided it was time to replace the "Smart Bar" with a conventional swaybar from a non-Rubicon Wrangler. A manual bar isn't the only option. Overland trail not off-road trail; I know it’s semantics, but if you want your video watched you need a silly title like this one. I know for a fact that Twisted Trail is way tougher than the connector.

      Without the Northfork Pass (thanks to Teck Mining), the area is a collection of really easy trails. Some of the decents on the BC side of Racehorse were nice and steep which you don't really get a sense of in the video; but it's still an easy trail. That being said, it's one of the more picturesque trails you'll find in this province.

      Yep; it's very likely. Worst case you can drill a custom hole higher up on the cover and use a bolt to keep it sealed. That wasn't an option for my ARB cover as it's extremely thick; not just a thin plate like the OEM cover.

    • @JustEmptyEveryPocket

      If you’re going 40s YES to PR62s front and rear. For me, 37 is max; I would have to give my garage a lift-kit if I had 40s 🤪 in Moab my PR44U/PR62 combo was absolutely dialed. Loved it. Also, for 40s it’s best to have hydraulic steering.

      Hey man! Yeah that was a blast!!! Definitely one of the highlights for the trip. I ended up doing Hell's Revenge and Sevenmile Rim also; was a pretty fun 4 days in Moab for us. I have a few questions for accuracy on the script; can you fire me a quick email Cory@5150GraFX.ca?

    Great video with lots of detail points. What type and brand of diff fluid did you use for the front PR44?

    • @JustEmptyEveryPocket
      @JustEmptyEveryPocket Місяць тому

      I use Canadian Tire brand non-synthetic. If you’re in the USA, Castrol would be my go-to. Also, you do not need a limited slip additive since these are open differentials.

      I have PR44 as my front axel but not sure what type of fluid to use. So far I use 85w90 (I think that's the right type). I also have eaton e-lockers with 37's

    • @JustEmptyEveryPocket
      @JustEmptyEveryPocket Місяць тому

      I use 80W90 front and rear; nowhere near hot enough for the 140 weight. Double check the eaton manual; I don’t know anything about them or their requirements.

    Thanks for this. I am getting a random chime and momentary sway bar light on the highway. It’s only happened twice, but thinking I will get ahead of this and get rid of the smartbar as you did.

    Hey man. I’ve got a ton of slop in my OEM steering. Like I can turn the wheel left and right by 8 inches and nothing will happen to the wheels. Does this kit address this issue? Do you know of anything I can do to fix this with the OEM equipment?

    • @JustEmptyEveryPocket
      @JustEmptyEveryPocket Місяць тому

      Your oem box is so done. Yes this will fix that. I just put Dynatrac axles in mine and drove 4500km to Moab. Drove like dream; 2 fingers on the wheel and no wondering on the highway. If you are planning on 40s you may want to go with the hydro assist option.

      @@JustEmptyEveryPocket Thanks for the reply. Yeah I figured as much. I plan on going 39s (ko2s) with dynatrac axles here shortly. Can I install the steering box you have for now and add the hydro assist later? Thanks!

    • @JustEmptyEveryPocket
      @JustEmptyEveryPocket Місяць тому

      Yes; just leave the plugs in the box. Be sure to get the SG688R right away since you’re planning on going hydro. I was on the fence; can always port my SG688 later, but it handles my 37s with zero issues.

    Great video once more! I have the same setup as you in the rear and love it! Because things broke at different times, I have the Spicer Ultimate Dana 44 up front. At least it gives me some redundancy with having an air locker in the rear, and an e-locker in the front, but I wished I had Dynatrac on both ends. I went with the Falcon shocks after watching your video about them, and I'm glad I did. What a difference it makes indeed. Btw, did you weld the shock skid-plates or just bolted them on?

    • @JustEmptyEveryPocket
      @JustEmptyEveryPocket 2 місяці тому

      Most likely. If it’s locked the light should be solid…but that’s a big job for a minor inconvenience hehe. I would just live with it🤷🏻‍♂️
