    I always watch your videos even if they're not related to my own field of interest,bc they're always Interesting and I like your way of speaking about stuff you're passionate about .
    Honesty is a truly necessary virtue that is missing from the world of creators on youtube, Trace and a select few people excluded.
    Thank you, as always. Wish u guys an exciting rest of the week.🎉

    Great review and spot on in describing the attributes and potential downsides of the keyboard. I know where your coming from with the ‘stupid questions’ having watched the Myriad of review vid’s myself before purchasing! This is a great keyboard for stage/studio or just playing at home.

      thanksd brother. Yeah the stupid questions on some of these reviews are staggering. This is an amazing board for whatever you want to do.

    Absolutely agree. It's hard to find a stage keyboard at this price point, at this weight, with over 30 keyboard engines!!?? I'm picking one up ASAP

    I am going to buy a keyboard but i am undecided between Astrolab and Juno D-8. Almost same price but i genuinely can't decide, both great keyboards.

    • @angryguyhateseverything
      @angryguyhateseverything 12 днів тому

      It's a tough call. I think there is still a few bugs that need to be fixed with the astrolab. For playing live I would probably go with the Juno.

    You could say because you bought it, your going to be bias in your appraisal, up holding your decision to buy it, where a review from someone who has nothing invested will give a more honest review. But you are correct, this keyboard is what it is and if you want more buttons and knobs then don't buy it, buy a wall size moog.

    • @Guitars-GearandMusic
      @Guitars-GearandMusic  22 дні тому

      Eh.... I disagree. I bought this for my wife....and I have bought dozens of guitars that I have reviewed that ultimately didn't work out for me. I think the sponsored vids are the biased ones. I buy all my gear. Some I keep, some I trade and some I simply get rid of. I have no bias of one piece to the next. If it is good I will say it. Watch my Nita Strauss vid on the Jiva. I bought that and it was junk....and I love Ibanez guitars....but that one was trash....and that is what I said.

    I am super late to this video, but I am happy I found it. I am coming from the synth side of the world and the lack of on device controls is down to a lot of those creators wanting a workstation with Arturia's engines for sound design and recording purposes. That's just been my view given how few of them i see tour vs. be at home and create. To your point, there are a lot of workstations out there and they can use those. They could also just use Arturia's midi keyboards and the $200 software you mentioned. It's great to watch someone review the keyboard for what it is: a highly playable simple instrument that you feel great taking with you on stage.
    I'm left with one question, though. Does it work in a church? I couldn't get that from your review.

    My only problem with this is the lack of Smooth Sound Switching, so, for me is a no go.
    And yes. This keybed is NOT synth action is SEMI weighted, it does have a little metal weight underneath.

    • @Guitars-GearandMusic
      @Guitars-GearandMusic  Місяць тому

      Yes. That is a huge problem with this keyboard. And really my biggest complaint. I am sure this is something they can fix with a firmware update.

      If you set up the favorites, it absolutely does seamless patch transitions. It would be better if it had that feature across all modes, for sure, but it doesn't completely lack this capability.

    • @angryguyhateseverything
      @angryguyhateseverything 22 дні тому

      @@KevinOnKeys Even in the favorites I was getting a but of patch lag. I even set up performances and couldn't get past that. Hopefully that is something they address because this little keyboard is awesome.

    It all depends on how you play live.
    I don’t think (at least I hope not) the people complaining about lack of buttons etc are complaining about editing sounds.
    I’m now retired and no longer gig, but when I did, I used to use the buttons and sliders all the time while playing, sure you don’t need tons, but in my opinion you need around 8 knobs and faders to assign to whatever the player wants.
    If all the knobs are assignable to anything, then it should do for most people, but if some are hard wired to effects etc, then it would be a big no for me, I’m sure it’s fine for many others, but I believe you are wrong when you say a blanket statement that people wanting more knobs are wrong.
    I have the Arturia Keylab 61 mk2, tons of knobs, buttons and faders, I also have a NI S88 mk3, Very few knobs and no faders. I love them both, but if I didn’t have the Arturia, I couldn’t survive with the S88 alone, many others are the same, the fact that still many others are perfectly happy with it is in all honestly irrelevant. There’s not just one type of player, and reviewers need to realise this.
    My eye sight isn’t great, I really don’t like that circular wheel/display, I find it gimmicky, again others love it. I would have preferred a large touch screen.
    It’s a great instrument, despite my misgivings if I was gigging, I’d buy it straight away, I still stand by my grievances though,
    One last thing, it still isn’t currently compatible with everything in Arturias V X collection, it’s only fully compatible with their version 9 (presuming nothings changed in the last week)Sure they will get there, but a lot of people aren’t happy on their forums.

    • @Guitars-GearandMusic
      @Guitars-GearandMusic  4 місяці тому

      I get what you are saying but you don't have to use the wheel. We use an Ipad which is great because now I have a 12 inch screen when I don't want to mess with that little wheel, which works but not very good for live. And what I was saying about the buttons...I stick by that. I also have a MODX and a CP300 and the only thing I use live is the volume from time to time. All my sounds are already set and I don't have to adjust anything from the stage. And that was the point of the video. Just set it up before you leave and you don't need the knobs and sliders. It is just a simple keyboard with some great sounds....and if you are new into the synth world....this is a great place to start. Thanks brother.

    Hi Trace thank you for your honest review. After watching other reviews I felt that the Arturia was a way too complicated but I now have less concern about getting my head around the instrument and getting the best from it. Im wondering if there is a setting on the Arturia for some rhythm accompaniment I know there is a drum and base setting but Im not sure how that would work.Looking forward to further content from you on the Arturia.

      Yeah dude if you don't want something overtly complicated with great sounds this is the way to go. The sounds are insane and it is very easy to navigate....especially if you download the app to your phone or tablet.

    They need to put 4 sliders in it so you can mix the sounds together on the fly, that would be great.

    • @angryguyhateseverything
      @angryguyhateseverything 4 місяці тому

      Yes, but I understand why they didn't. That just keeps driving up the cost and they had to keep this well under the 2k price point because now you are in there with much more powerful keys like the MODX.

    • @Guitars-GearandMusic
      @Guitars-GearandMusic  4 місяці тому

      I get what you are saying but that would add cost and they have to keep this well under 2k because then they would be competing with keys such as the MODX.

    Why hasn’t Arturia made a sound module holding presets that works with all of the great controllers they make?

    • @angryguyhateseverything
      @angryguyhateseverything 2 місяці тому

      I know right? That would be the smart thing for them to do and it would sell like fire. Also, with the success of their new keys that may be something coming on the horizon.

      You know.... I have not looked. I really don't use a sax sound on anything....but now that you mention it I don't think I have seen one on my MODX either. I will have to look a little deeper into that one.

      I haven't looked becuase I really don't use sax sounds that much but not that you mention it I have never seen one on my MODX either. I need to look into this a little more.

    Another thing I do not like is how disorganized all the sounds are, you hit piano and you have like clavinets and all other kind of sounds and layers popping up which is not logical, they should of had a keyboard player that played out help design it.

    • @angryguyhateseverything
      @angryguyhateseverything 4 місяці тому

      Yeah that is true. I use my i pad so its not that big of a deal for me and I thought about mentioning that but I can't guess on what sounds people where want where. I use a list and move what I need there so that really doesn't bother me that much but I completely get what you are saying.

    • @Guitars-GearandMusic
      @Guitars-GearandMusic  4 місяці тому

      I get what you are saying. they are a little discombobulated. I was going to mention that but since I move all the sounds I use into a list it really doesn't bother me that much. And since I use the iPad to find the sounds I can move through them pretty quickly...but yes you can spend way too much time with the dial filtering through sounds.

    Proof that there are no stupid questions...but there are most certainly stupid answers. 🙄 "Does it work in a church?" clearly isn't literally asking whether or not the board will power up in a church. It's asking whether this is a good keyboard in a church setting, and depending on the intended use, the answer can be no. If there's a heavy reliance on organ sounds, this would not be the best board for that due to the absence of drawbars, among other things. Snap out of it.

    • @Guitars-GearandMusic
      @Guitars-GearandMusic  22 дні тому

      Well funny you say that as I have used this very keyboard......in my church. There are more sounds then draw organs that are used in a church. You know....piano sounds....string sounds....a lot of pads. Does it work in a church is a stupid question.
