One Year Renovation an Abandoned Norwegian Farm
About 10 years ago we bought a runed down farm on the west coast of Norway. Our goal for this farm was to bring this back from the sorry state it was left in and make this into the farm of our dreams. Through the years we have been working slowly to achieve our goal but in 2024 we decided to kick things into high gear. In this video we are going to bring you along for the entire year, month by month. We start I January 2024 when we were snowed inn for days. Then we continue to February where we sold out tractor and decided that we were going to go all in on this farm. We were going to be sheep farmers. We renovated our garage, revealed some beautiful natural stone stares, put up fences and biggest off all, we started the rebuilt of our barn. This old set of ruins were finally going to be a proper building once more.

Attempting to Drain our Marshy Fields | Restauration of a Bounded Farm
Переглядів 178 тис.21 день тому
In this video we are going to attempt to drain our marshy wet fields with a Fiat 480-8 tractor and a Forster DP-2 tractor digger. It did not go as planned. Our old farm was fighting us every step of the way. While we are working, we get our first snow of the winter, the temperature cripes under -12°C and the tires on our wheelbarrow exploded. The biggest obstacle was however sticking the tracto...

In today’s video we are going to renovate our most used gates. We are cast a new concrete foundation for the posts, build a new frame and refurbished the old gates so we can use them again. We are also going to make a French drain at the sheep feeding station so they don’t have to stand on wet soil when they eat this winter. We are also going to fit brand new LED lights on our tractor both in t...

In this video we are going to finish the concrete work on our barn project. We are going to assess the damage from a surprise storm that came rolling by and we witnessed something toughly spectacular across the skies. For those that are new here my name is Eirik. Me and my wife bought this one-hundred-year-old farm 10 year ago. The building was left in a terrible condition and the land had not ...

In this video vi continue on the restauration of our 100-year-old barn by preparing the top of the old stone walls for concrete. Before we can build anything on the old walls, we need a level base to build on. During our last video we made the framework and made sure that they where level. Now it is time to start laying rebar and securing it to the stones below so that the foundation is strong ...

Today we are going to clean out all the ruble from our old collapsed barn. We even found a hidden room that we had no idea existed. We are going to do some maintenance on an old tractor front loader and we are going to do some much needed maintenance on our old Fiat 480-8, 1982 tractor. Who are we? Me and my wife bought an old abounded farm on the vest cost of Norway 10 years ago. During that t...

The summer is here and the grass is long. That means that it is finally time to make hay for the winter. All our hard work on the fields has led up to this moment. The harvest. This year we have even bought our self a new mower to help us cut the grass. A Bucher M200. This is to prevent the same issues as last summer when our 70-year-old mower broke down at a critical moment and we had to cut t...

In this video we tackle an old brick staircase. The bricks are falling off and the stairs are dangerous to use. Specially for my daughter that has a special genetic condition. Under the ugly bricks we uncovered something fantastic and unexpected. We also renovate the tractor garage. This building is screaming for attention as the paint are crumbling and the cladding are rotting away. This turne...

For those that are curious: The tractor we use is a Fiat 480-8 DT 1982 model. The bread of sheep we have is...

This month the farm decides to truly test us as farmers. Spring is upon us and the tasks are lined up. We need to prepare the fields and replant one of them as the moss has taken over. We test out an old drag I bought last year to separate the moss from the grass. We do this with out trusty old Fiat 480-8 DT tractor. Fencing is a big task this month as we race to complete the permanent fence ru...

I've been watching all your videos from most current backwards, and I'm starting to see a bit of a problem. While servicing your equipment, there have been spillages or cleaning by products ending up in your grounds in proximity to your house, well, garden, and places where your animals Eat and drink. As a isolated incident, I guess it's not a problem. But this is a farm you plan on having as generational, and years of spillage can result in strange and unexplained animal sickness or worse. Solution: try and be more proactive about containing unwanted chemicals by using disposable tarps, and better containers for catching liquids. PS: love your content. I'm really glad you stayed with it and ultimately decided to do what's best for the farm. We all want you to succeed I can see how hard you work, it's inspiring. Cheers

What possessed you to pull a blade to move snow rather than pushing it? Piling up snow on at the back of tractor and not pushing it out of the way seems,, well,,, um,,,, not wise.

We have a saying here that if you can throw a bucket of water at a fence and it passes through, the same will happen when the goats come along. They are difficult to keep penned up. I raise cows!

It´s a little bit late ...but ... why don´t you build a "floor" of chicken wire put a layer of wet hay there, then a new floor more hay and so on. Then you will have a indoor "hejiing" wich might help drying your hay.

Been slowly working through some of your older videos, when you mentioned the Tysse factory in one where you tipper the 2-wheel tractor... Made me wonder, as my sis-in-law lived near there until last year. As far as I can make out from Google maps etc, theey lived approximately 300m almost due East of you. So I now know where you are, as we visited them there quite often. From what a recall of cycling from them up past the Tysse factory, the 1000m you mentioned must be the vertical climb.. LOL. Really looking forward to seeint the barn rise from it's soggy ashes.

Cant wait to see the barn transformation . Im a big fan of timber frame structures and have plans of my own to build a sawmill structure so I can mill logs from under a roof. This was suppose to have been started last year but I tore a tendon in my knee that keep me from doing heavy work like moving logs to the sawmill. Good luck in 2025

A pickup truck, a van, or a trailer. I’m watching your channel for three reasons. My ancestors came from a failed farm in Norway, so, that was a thing. Seeing you meet problems in a very different way from us Americans is interesting. I like seeing alternative solutions and ideas. And finally, I am really hoping you make the farm pay. You don’t even have to make a living, just…make a small profit. Make that farm productive…which is what you said on your video about UA-cam and profits. I’d love to see someone succeed. You’re doing a great job with your English. My wife is German, I speak a little German, she speaks English very well…and you are doing great. I like the fact that you figure out your problems and fix them, rather than throwing money at them. Keep doing that! Best of luck, I’ll keep watching you, hoping you keep chasing the dream, and get to where you’re wanting to go.
