Northern Snakehead Fishing The Pennsylvania Swamps
Northern Snakehead Fishing in Pennsylvania is not as good as snakehead fishing in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia or DC but it is still a great time. In this video I travel to the Pennsylvania swamps to catch snakehead while using a ned rig and frog. The Northern Snakehead has become one of my favorite fish to catch and this year I was able to catch a handful. The Northern Snakeheads range seems to be expanding across Pennsylvania but at this point in time that are primarily found in Philly (Philadelphia). Frog fishing for snakehead is a very unique experience!

Thanks for checking out the video! Sorry, I do not give out the exact location of any of my eel spots. I only fish this hole once a year.
That water chestnut clean up project fell by the wayside I see.
Thanks for checking out the video! I've never heard of that project. Was it a project to clean up the lake?
@@delconashvilleline yeah. Volunteering efforts to hand pull that shit out. But I don’t think they could keep up with it.

The American Eel is supposed to be an endangered species. "The number of juvenile eels in the Lake Ontario area decreased from 935,000 in 1985 to about 8,000 in 1993 and was approaching zero levels in 2001." It was listed as an endangered species in 2008 at high risk of extinction. And this jacka$$ is here fishing specifically for them for UA-cam views.
This comments deserves a full response: 1. The American Eel is NOT an endangered species. That is an inaccurate statement. In the US The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service determine whether a species is an endangered species or not and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service does not classify the species as an endangered species. I'm assuming you got your information from Wikipedia where a random organization (International Union for Conservation of Nature) considers them endangered. They do not set the classification for what is considered endangered in the US. 2. There numbers have decreased through the years. Why? The creation of dams that across the United States of America that prevent them from migrating from the sea where they are born to the lakes and rivers they have lived in for centuries. It isn't because I catch and release 3 American Eels a year. 3. Did you actually watch the video? You could have learned a lot of this if you watched the whole thing. This video is meant to be educational and teach people how to release eels safely as many people catch them on accident and do not know how to safely release them. I try to show people how awesome this species is so we can protect it. I am one of like 5 people in the US who actually advocates for this fish. Lastly, I hope this response helps to clarify things. I don't mind the comment and actually appreciate it but I wanted to make sure you had the actual facts about the American Eel.
@@delconashvilleline All you have to do is Google "American Eel", and the first video to pop up from UA-cam is called Species at Risk by the Toronto Zoo. The numbers listed above are from Wikipedia. The American Eel has been designated as an Endangered Species since 2008. In Canada, we know how to count and read.

Catfish fishermen would cut that thing up Mike great catfish bait
Yeah, that's what I've heard. I think they're too cool to use as bait, so I let them go and catfish with hot dogs.
I’m actually going to here tomorrow and stumbled on your video. In PA like green lane the fish apparently like the pig and jigs, spoiler shads, spinners. That’s what I had luck on so far for like 3-5 pounders. Even the senko weren’t working lol. Looks like a nice place for some top water frogs I think you needed some bigger bait cuz there are monster bass in there. But crappy is always nice.
Thanks for checking out the video! I actually used a bunch of bigger baits that did not make the video because they fish weren't biting on them. To be honest it just seemed like a day where the bite was slow.
@@delconashvilleline ahh gotcha. Yeah just an update, I used all the baits I said and got nothing as well lol. Not one fish lol. I tried the senko, pig and jig, regular jig, spinners, frog, crank, spoiler shad, shit, even a rooster tail. Not one bite lol. I used something similar to the white lure thing you used, but just got nothing. Didnt have the hellgrammite bait. Was there for about 3-4 hours. Tried my luck at Nockamixon and it was the same story. Only good thing for the day was the pizza for lunch! lol
Im here now and found a sticker that says Delco Nashville lines was it yours lol

Is that Lake mainly shallow or is there any deep areas? I live about 50 mins away why I'm asking. Thanks
Thanks for checking out the video! There are some deep areas of the lake. I'm not sure how deep, though, because I don't use a depth finder.
You pointed that spot out when we were there
Haha, you are correct!
Would love to see a video of crum creek again. I would reccomend you start at the big waterfall by the condos and walk along the trail to the tressel train bridge. Recently I’ve seen bass ranging from 2lbs to 5+ and have had success on a Chad shad. I have heard of some GIANTS caught there(8+)
I know exactly where you are talking about! Funny enough, I've been thinking about making a video at that spot for a few weeks now. I'll see if I can get out there before the cold weather sets in. Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks for checking out the video!
@@delconashvilleline I will say the water is very low right now. The 5+ usually are everywhere after a big storm so if you are going to make a video make it then. And at the waterfall the like live bluegills. The waterfall has big bass and giant snakehead after storms.

Hey man! Thanks for checking out the channel! I'm not gonna lie to you... there aren't too many public lakes or pond in Delco. What type of fish are you looking to target?

Lets go !!!! 🐸
You were there for catch 2! That was the one that I showed you.
Does it seem like the bass are disappearing in these areas due to the snakehead competition?
It's a really good question. My answer is I'm not sure. In my personal experience bass fishing this year in this area has been poorer than the last two years. I don't know why though. It could just be an off year, it could be due to water conditions, it could be due to competition with snakehead and other species. It could be I just am off my game and cant catch them this year lol. It's a good question that I do not have the answer to! I appreciate you checking out the video!

Hey i fish there alot but where is the 3rd spot that you went at?
I never went back there fishing.... Are all them spots just right off the trails and parking spots
They are all off trails. To be honest I walk all over the place. It can be very hit or miss and is extremely pressured. It's one of the most pressured waters that I fish.
You should have just grabbed it not going to hurt you... Unless you're hand gets in mouth lol
Definitely should have lol. But this was my first snakehead so in full transparency I still learning about them at this point. I'll be releasing more snakehead videos in the coming weeks. You'll see in those I just grab the fish lol.
Great video Jimmy, I could just see the snakehead make a lunge for your bass. Wild! You convinced me to go for snakehead this weekend 🫡
Thank you! They're an awesome fish! Pablo thinks the fish that was chasing my bass was a bigger bass and when I watch the video it is hard to tell! I guess we'll never know!
theres a lot of fish in the brandywine. in the tidal portions there are Tiger Musky. anywhere in the river theres smallies, rock bass, sun fish, fall fish, the usual stuff. if you go a bit north of the city, (around Hagley Museum) the water is a lot cleaner. also, they have removed a bunch of dams in the river and theres shad in there now too.
Thanks for checking out the video! And I completely agree if you go north the water gets pretty clean.
Thanks for the video. I haven't had any luck in both lakes, maybe its time to get a kayak 🙂 Glad to see someone catching something there.

It’s been tough for me this august for the snakeheads
I agree. I definitely had more luck in prior months. My stats for this month are two bits. One I landed one spit the lure about 6 feet from the bank.
Dude love to see your back there. I’m going tomorrow any tips for snakehead?
Have fun! I actually have a snakehead video I am editing now for next week so stay tuned! It'll feature 3 catches from this year. I would say just make sure you have a medium or heavier rod! You should (if you feel life it) check out my more recent eel videos. I corrected the handling over the years. It wasn't intentional on this video. I just didn't know how to handle them.
Medium heavy rod, straight braid 30# or better. Give it hell on the hook sets with weedless frogs.

Crappies My favorite fish to fish for
Right on! I was just saying to one of my friends that it is one of the most underrated fish.
One more thing then im good for this video lol.... when you say you only fish for the eels once a year, do you mean cause its just that one hole ? It be nice if in same stream you find a new spot to explore, or new stream to try explore, i acutally skip all ur other videos, you got me wanting to eel fish in potomac river soon lol, and because of ur channel i google for eel documentarys now lol, its just amazing how they live from ocean to a little stream
Haha you are good! Comment as much as you want! I'm glad this video got you interested in the American Eel. That has been the intent of these videos. To try to show people how amazing the species is. They are often viewed as a trash fish and in my opinion they are the coolest fish that we have! When I say I only fish for them once a year I mean that I only fish for them once a year at this spot. I truly love this species and I visit it multiple times a year but the majority of times I just go there to feed them. I also have an underwater camera that I use to record them. It is so funny that you mentioned going to another spot because I legit texted my buddy yesterday about filming another eel video at a different spot lol. You truly are thinking along the same lines as me.
Do have the address for this place? Or what I can put into the GPS?
I'm not sure of the GPS coordinates, but if you look on Google, you'll be able to see it. It's a huge dam.
is the summer time only time you can catch them in ur hole ? or do they al migrate back to sea
Only the largest full grown ones will migrate back to the sea! If they decide to make the journey they will do it in the fall but they can be caught year round.
