  • I went freshwater eel fishing at my local creek for American Eel. In this video I show you how to catch freshwater eel while providing knowledge of the American eel. The American eel is a short-finned eel that is very similar to the European eel. The American Eel is generally smaller than the European Eel and the New Zealand longfin eel. The American Eel is my favorite fish and I was fortunate to catch two huge eels and one small eel.
    Jig Head : Ned Rig 1/15 oz.
    Bait : Hot Dogs
    Location : Small Creek in Southeastern Pennsylvania
    Featured Fish : American Eel (Freshwater Eel)

    Love your video. I am from Florida, and I really want to try eel fishing. But I don't know where to find them here. You said small creeks with rocks, but how far from the ocean

    • @delconashvilleline
      @delconashvilleline  5 місяців тому

      Thank you! That is a good question. Eels can migrate very far into freshwater rivers and creeks. The biggest thing you need to be aware of us you need to make sure there are no dams between the ocean and where you are fishing. The dams will prevent the eels from migrating.

    interesting vid - from PA. Whats strange is that I've fished the susquehanna and Delaware for bass for 45 years and never caught an eel. Surprised they won't hit slow moving senko worms. Unless I saw your vid, would have never known they were here

    • @delconashvilleline
      @delconashvilleline  11 місяців тому

      The rivers around here are really strange in that some have eels and some don't. It really comes down to whether or not they have Dams. I don't know about the Susquehanna but the delaware definitely has a healthy population.
      It's funny I've never seen them bite lures and I think the reason is because their eye sight is really poor my observations of them make me think they almost extensively fish by smell.
      I'm glad the videos have helped you learn about eels. I appreciate you checking it out!

      @@delconashvilleline nice! Thanks for the reply! Yeah, we’ve got some world-class saltwater fishing up here, I hope you got a chance to see the coast. I actually caught some American eel last season, with the help of your earlier videos. They tend to harass chicken legs, when there’s a bunch of people crabbing, and they can be pretty easy to catch around the docks because of that.
      This month I’m going for Conger eel, we’ve got them in the rocks off Narragansett. I’ve gotten small ones before, by accident, but now I’m targeting them on purpose. I’ve heard of people pulling them in over 5 feet long. The ones I have caught have been about 2 1/2 feet. Delicious.
