In today's stormgate casted game we see the stormgate celestial armada versus the stormgate infernal host battling it out on the isle of dread map. It was a great game with a lot of action but with one massive fight at the end that involved two prominent units for both stormgate factions, the flayed dragon for the infernal host and the animancer for the stormgate celestial armada.

It will be interesting to see what changes FH make in Early Access. In Frigate Infest was weakened so much that it almost disappeared from the game, FG will definitely do something about it. I'm most looking forward to some new mechanics in macro in Infernals and Celestials

It’s the classic healer see-saw problem again: if the opponent does not have enough dps, an army with healers win with no losses like at 13:36, but if the enemy has enough dps, healers are effectively dead weight like in the final fight
Medtecs do more than heal they can purge debuffs like infestation. Healing also lowers dps so definitely not dead weight.
@@Bagginsess they make army ball weaker tho. infernals have a really efficient death ball unit comp. unless healer fly (cough cough medivacs) or have a million heal range, the the density of the army dps (how much damage you can do at a given point around the blob of units) lowers significantly. for every medtech you have to forfeit 3 exos in the same space. removing debuffs is mostly useless against infernals. infest does almost nothing by itself. magmadon's stun is applied every nano second, so removing the debuff is useless, hexen skills are mostly utility and that could offer something but it would have to be an AOE to be really effective anti-debuffing, and the mines would always trigger the damage part. against celestials, it's about the same. almost all debuffs are applied in an AOE or an ground persistent AOE. in the first case it helps, in the second is close to useless. the anti debuff is kind of obsolete. since most of the debuffs are AOE and reapplied over a period of time. medtechs should at least give debuff inmunity for a second or something. that way, you could make a lancer stop a magmandon rumbling (if we consider displacement a debuff, for example) and don't get stun locked for eternity. and stuff like that. I think that the magmadon is kind of too fast or too tanky or the skill upgrade is too powerful for the units that infernal can get. but that ok, we are in beta, every semblance of balance is an illusion xD.

Really good game. We get to see a lot more tactical play and higher tier units. Still a number of place holders but I like this. Give the players access to new stuff gradually and watch the games and players themselves evolve. Good job Frost Giant!!

That was weak af.... Like the dude literally only built teir 1 units and then lost.... full map control for over 10 minutes tons of money and yet only the most basic unit you can build.

I can’t remember for sure, but I think no because the dragon was classified as a “massive” or “resistant” unit or something. The counter play Cels were using in the beta was to slow them down with the animancer black hole, so I assume cabals couldn’t ground dragons.

I feel like there are a lot of interesting lessons to take out of that game, but i don't have sufficient knowledge to interpret them, here are a few things i noticed but i don't doubt others might see more: - *The game repeated itself for a long time unitl a player was out of luminite* - *There were not a lot of tech transitions in this game* - *Full gaunts, tier 1 units, is both viable for constant raiding (animus gallore i imagine?) and very vulnerable. * Too inefficient to do this on the long run too, all resources depleted without a decisive advantage for the infernal and i don't imagine this is supposed to be the equivalent of the swarmy inefficient high economy hydra ling bane from sc2 - *Would tier 2 infernal units have changed this situation? * I thought hellbornes once again with their superior range could've taken the animancer down, but wait the kri... So magmadons in front? Brutes wouldn't stop them but this is a big transition now. Furthermore one of those shoot up and scythes are there so the remaining gaunts in the back? Seems a bit lightweight and easy to flank All that has to be considered with the current lack of tier 3 and balancing still being somewhere in the future of course, but i have this itch that there is a lot of stuff to understand from this particular game...
This channel makes me excited for Stormgate. Haven't played an RTS since I was 10-11 (I'm almost 30 now).

the lack of vector micro was painful tho xD. they excel in this low eco games against hedgehog. hedgehogs are better unmicro-ed but vectors are still a better option than argents. argents are quite useless against vanguard, except against mass lancer. it takes like 7-8 sabers to one shot a squishy hedgehog. sabers are more of an anti tank / anti siege / anti building unit.
idk man sabres were chewing through my lancers and exos in the playtest. Definitely not great against headhogs but I don't think they are anti building/siege only.
@@Bagginsess lancers in part what I mean with anti tank. as the high discrete/low dps doesn't care about armor (what tanks are known for). Losing exos to sabres is something new to me, as exos can close the gap quiet quickly in a surround. Certainly It has merit in theory, in the same way that a tempest is an anti tank/anti siege/anti building and Mana has manage to use it to counter marines in cheeses.
@@giuseppebonatici7169 ah gotcha. I'm pretty bad at rts so I struggle microing the exos. But it was probably more due to my lancers and vulcans getting nuked by the sabres opening up my exos to attack, I don't remember the beta to well.
I have no clue how bioice managed to get that much value out of mass gaunts...

Infernals are pretty swarmy... when they decide that their army should consist almost entirely of gaunts, harbringers, and hexen at least
what happened to the Wraithstones? Are those out in this version?
I think so, because i'm not sure what a wraithstone is xD
Wraithstones were in this build he just didn't build them. @FarmManOfficial, you do know them you just aren't bringing them to mind. They're the infernals alternate defense structure. They slow all enemies nearby and reduce maximum health slowly.

Vulcans with nanoswarm is already bad enough, adding in the Atlas is turning the balance completely toward Vanguard. Celestials are losers by game design.

I think this is the first game Farmman has casted where Infernals lose after getting Flayed Dragon. Seems like the Flayed Dragon wont be as strong vs celestials since it's harder to build up a mass of fiends with them vs celestials.
@@harrisonking1195 I think it is the first one as well, it definitely is the first one i watched where it happened. And i do agree, Kri are very good against the whole fiend tech. Kri look so damn annoying to play against, they can wreak static defences with their invul and explosion...
@@shethek1733 This is probably an overreaction, but i'm kinda convinced that the self destruct needs to be taken off of kri right now. more measured take is that it needs to deal less damage. Also, maybe i'm mistaken but it looks like fiends spawn from kri before they self destruct. If that's indeed the case they should fix that too. so that fiends don't spawn and immediately get blown up.
They should have to go full on fantasy without making a copycat of the sc2 races.
opponent is using an army primarily built of kri, which do great splash damage, and animancers, which do great splash damage. What should my army be composed of? If you answered: nothing but gaunts, you answered wrong! Ok more serious note: I kinda hate that infest is a mechanic that is pretty much worthless against celestials. you infest kri and the fiends just get killed by the explosion, there aren't workers to infest, etc.
New to stormgate, but he prob would have gotten more damage from the atlases by putting them in deployed mode
