Up Pompeii - The Senator and The Asp
Very funny. Frankie. Howard. At his. Best. Wish. They. Would. Show. It. Again.
"Talking of titters, I must bust out of here."
At around 2:15 the reference is to adverts for Schweppes fizzy drinks, which were famous in the 1970s.
Elizabeth Larner is the sexiest woman to ever appear on Up Pompeii.
I'm Spartacus... No..I'm Spartacus... I am Spartacus... No..I'm Spartacus... I'm Spartacus...
This is my favorite episode. Frankie Howerd was a comedic genius!
I remember watching as a 12 yr old lad with my parents and trying not to laugh, I mean I shouldnt have known hakf of what was going on
Ooooooooooh!!! no! missis! no!
vestigial virgins more like.
Frankie at his very best
A great farce of a sitcom. Frankie made a mockery of the show by criticising the script, acting and scenery which the audience loved.
The wonderfully talented Wendy Richard and Nicholas Smith: together again.
As a great fan of Roman history and english humor I was thrilled to find this old show!!
I had terrible trouble sleeping as a 10/11 year old. I used to watch this on a monday night with my mum absolutely shitting myself with worry I wouldn't sleep. Butterflies and feeling sick. Can someone confirm it was a monday ?. i'm now 66, and sleeping is still an issue with me, always as been, but I don't worry about it so much now, so consequently I sleep
What a treasure this was! Remember seeint it on late night TV
A master of his craft.
Love what time are so
Let us all pay homage to the greatest comic that ever lived. Oh er Missus ❤ R.I.P Sir Francis.
Bennie from Crossroads?
do you mean Geoffrey Hughes aka onslow or vernon scripps ?
Frankie Howard a complete professional
Hes such a riot! Love frankie howerd.
Excellent...in the classic television era.
Watching this in 2024 makes me realise how dull, boring, serious and humorless the world is now!
Mr. Mustard!
Nurse Gladys and Mrs slocombe
When I was younger I used love Frankie…I was to young to understand the double entendres…but all the same I found him hilarious The way he spoke directly into the camera was pure genius 😂
Trisha Noble.....my goodness
Ludicrous plots, lame scripts but excellent comedic delivery from Howard. A master of his profession. RIP dear Frankie!
Is there a branch of Grace Brothers in Pompeii? Mr. Rum old and Miss Brahms are in this episode, and Mrs. Slocombe and Mr. Mash have been in others. :-)
"Guest Virgin" Trisha Noble went on to become known to Sci-fi fans both as the "Hyde" half of a woman with two personas on _Buck Rogers in the 25th Century_ and as Padme Amidala's mother in the _Star Wars_ movies.
Lynda Baron was fine, RIP.
He's really annoying.👎
Frankie Howerd: the master of breaking the 4th wall.
Ahhhhhahahahaaa. Its Onslo!!!!
What an excellent show! Frankie was made for Up Pompeii and Up Pompeii' was made for Frankie. Fantastic script by Tolbot Rothwell and great supporting cast. Comedy at its best!
Why does the dark haired villain sound like Bela Lugosi?😮
Brit comedy has its ups and downs even in the classics. Not shown here in the Philippines due to the innuendos. Just realized the late Ms Windsor's harem outfit looked like Barbara Eden's.
Love this show 😂
Love when he says something towards a sexual innuendo and the audience starts laughing them he stops and gives a dirty look as if to say your filthy minds 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This was funny back in the day, and still is
Ah, Frankie, how you were one of a kind and we can watch you roaring with laughter even 60 years ago. Gone but not forgotten 😂❤❤
Sexual innuendo, contradiction, put downs, piss taking 😂😂😂 up pompei had the lot
The sound effects are so darn good
Sir Francis at his scintillating and innuendo laden best. Titter ye not ❤.
This is by-far one of the best episodes in the series. Max (the senator) was so good in this role. I never tire of @29:25 to the end as it makes me laugh out loud.
Frankie Howerd - absolute genius and master of saucy innuendo. I am now sixty years of age but never tire of his humour, and stage presence, a man who simply owned the screen and could work an audience like no other. R.I.P Sir Francis ❤
How he broke that fourth wall. It was brilliant. If only Frankie was around today, TV might be worth watching.
Frankie Howerd at his absolute best, ad libbing, great comic timing, and presence coupled with his wonderful way of inviting the audience into his mad cap world. R.I.P Sir Francis gone but never to be forgotten ❤.
Vis comica lives. Tall girl with nauseous.
“Beware the elides of March” ….last week it was “Beware the nuts in May”……😊😅😂
