I saw it in the 80s and forgot about it. A few years ago, I remembered and did Google and You Tube but nothing. Now I have plenty. I must share such great sick comedy.
I used to watch Up Pompeii! on Channel 28, KCET , Los Angeles in the early 1980s. It was recommended to me by Canadian friends. I thought it was a funny show , and more adult than US situation comedies of the time.
I was born after this time and have NEVER heard of this comedy until tonight. Should I start with this ep? The first ep? I see lots of eps are uploaded. I will give this one a go. I am a few minutes in and i have laughed already :)
Woo woo , Oh dear! sounds like the milkman calling his horse, Nay , Nay I think it is his horse. Here she is, the Sooth sayer Senna. Woo Woo. oh doesn't she goes through you. lool RIP Frankie Hower
Gotta agree. I literally just discovered this show, but this episode is where the mere four months between series one premiering and series two hitting the air shows the frantic rushing going on to get the damn thing out. Plus, I have to assume William Rushton wasn't available, because I'm really missing Plautus in series 2. But, damn, Frankie Howerd is amazing at making you think there's a full audience. The man was a master of the aside.
The program was hilarious and Franky so good . I bet that if they tried to show this on TV can you imagine the uproar by the lesser educated among us.
At least they'd be able to spell 'programme' correctly.
Kenny Everett is getting 'may offend' stickers. Woke pc fks are destroying everything with their anal retentive morality.
The greatest British comedian ever. RIP Frankie...we are still laughing after all these years.
Absolutely, he still makes me roar laughing all these years later!

Wonderful he was fabulous :-)
George Baker donned a toga again some years later as Tiberius in "I Claudius" and he kept a few of his Jamus Bindus nuances in the role,

Frankie (to audience) referring to Jamus Bondus: 'I can't think how he got the part, can you?
He got the part in Up Pompeii due to his fine performance in I Claudius
I already miss Max Adrian as the original Ludicrous.
Yes, Max Adrian certainly was, Ludicrous.
Wallas eaton was much funnier 🤣
Is it possible that Spurious is the same actor that played Mr. Mash on Are You Being Served?
Yep, Larry Martin.
Larry Martyn as Spurious. He was in practically everything and even appeared in Mike Oldfield's "Don Alfonso" video.
Tell me, where is it?......
