I’m from Sherburn Hill. In my life time you had the Moor Edge pub and The Burley Lodge pub in the village and also Sherburn Hill working men’s club. There isn’t even one now. Even the kids have to go to school in a different village now but I suppose that’s a sign of the times. I agree that the views are amazing especially on top of the moors. My grandparents used to tell me that there was once seven public houses in Sherburn Hill alone at one point.

Hello Simon, big fan of all these videos recently, i spent years watching similar ones of London , mManchester and recently Newcastle among other places i used to live. Nice to have someone making them back home! I know this is a live vid so cant be helped but in your normal videos you should definitely cut the wind out and re-record the voiceovers when you get back home. I often listen on headphones and sometiems it physically hurts trying to hear the voice over the wind.

The soldier at towlaw monument is one of my favourite statues in county Durham.

I've been there, I went to visit that tree. There was a really good crystal shop there. I dont know if it's still there. Beautiful village.
