Ones that work for you and your gun

I have just changed from half and half to three quarters and it definitely made an improvement to my score, will stick with them for a while and if it keeps getting better I will try 24gram cartridges as well.

Love the pass-thru doubles at the end! Ever since I read that George shoots mainly pass-thru, it has dramatically improved my doubles on Skeet station 6,, I'm a lefty. And also happy to know he shoots a 32, as I do as well. Would love to shoot a round with George.

Thats the one discipline I haven’t tried yet. Out of 5 stand, sporting clays, trap and skeet. Which one would you recommend doing first?

I agree you have to find a shotty that fits your frame. I like a 30 inch barrel for o/u shotties im 6-1 225 pounds. But what ive learned for semi automatic is the frame is longer and a 30 inch barrel sticks out farther than an o/u. So i like a 26 inch barrel for semi. And if the targets get farther away i got a 2 inch extend a choke to get me to 28. I do have a 30 inch semi and 32 inch o/u and to me its too much barrel. And i got a 28 inch o/u thats too short

Good advise

At 19 I spent over 4500 this year shooting and competing. I made back 1500 or so in pots with a 3k dollar loss.

My issue is i started with improved cylinder and went to modified and got better but found the more i used modified the worse i got over time so now im back to improved cylinder. I shot my best nsca tournaments with ic and hang out around 80-90 clays out of 100. I shot a 96 1 time with modified and after i shot 67-75. And to this day i don’t understand how i shot the 96 but the 4 clays i missed were right in front of me easy clays

Big round budget numbers in the states for 2024 = $1 per clay shot. Depending on the field of course, a round of Trap (25) may run $10 for a non-club member and a box of 25 shells may cost $15. While actual numbers will vary based on which state, it's a simple budgetary number to use getting started. A $500 shotgun will break the same clay as a $5000 gun will "this year". But if you start shooting high volume, that's when the difference will show up.

It for sure is not a cheap sport. With the price of everything going up, just to make the targets it directly impacts the cost to the shooter. Hopefully, things level out soon it would be a sad day if the average shooter could afford the sport any longer.

Trap, is easiest, but, just like George says, any shooting sport is what you put into it. Sporting Clays is gimmicky, and it is not as difficult as skeet. Skeet is the same every time you shoot, you would think it would be easy as time and effort goes by,, but, Skeet is a game of perfection, and not many people shoot to perfection.

I shoot at Barbury. Great clay range, good competitions, very friendly and expert staff, lovely cafe, gunshop on site, and a good place to make friends. The MAN is dead right, it's a great sport [but don't forget to bring your wallet with you !.].

Reading between the lines, George wants to say that Sporting clays with its random distances and target presentations is more difficult 😊

Trap is far easier for me. I have trouble seeing the clays against a high skyline. With trap, I can pick them up when they leave the thrower. It's an eyesight thing.

I have been using 3/8 or light mod in my Beretta. I have found this is a good all-around choke for the clubs that I go to shoot and my current skill. The chokes are good to 40-45 yards. I want to use mod as I get better. I don’t like changing chokes every station like some shooters do.

Good advice, as usual. I've shot all the clays disciplines at least a little and Sporting Clays and Super Sporting, IMHO, are by far the most fun and enjoyable.

You should probably mention that Perazzi gives a large cash award to anyone who takes a gold medal with one of their guns.

On a good day chokes don't matter. On a bad day chokes don't help.

Full and full at everything even close targets as the shot column never gets time to spread even using cylinder. If your on them your on them

This is a Perazzi sales pitch. Perazzi, Krieghof, Kolar, Blazer are all great guns, Beretta DT series has more championships than all those manufacturers combined.

What Perazzi would you recommend for English sporting George.

Excellent video. Thank you for making this. There's a previous comment similar to the one I'm about to make, but it's worth reiterating. There needs to also be a guide for shooters on how to treat the referees. I am currently refereeing the US Open, and while the vast majority of people are great and nice, there are some who really need a kick in the pants, and unfortunately many of them are between the ages of 13-25. They need to learn the value of clear, polite communication, the need for directly responding to instructions and questions, conducting themselves in a calm and dignified manner, keeping safety as the main priority no matter how mad they are about missing, and expressing gratitude to the trappers who are often volunteering, and using up vacation days from work so competitors can play their game.

I know you are brilliant and I am a big fan. You say my comment that your vid show the gun goes ahead of the target and the swing then slows to the target is an optical illusion but it clearly isn’t and the reason for the terminal slowing is because the clay is slowing whereas that would not work on a pheasant. Sorry to be controversial.
