Is Trap Easier Than Skeet?
The question of whether trap is easier than skeet is often debated. Here, we'll focus on the more common versions of these sports shot in the UK and US, rather than their international counterparts.
Both trap and skeet are challenging and exacting sports. The consistency of skeet targets worldwide allows shooters to practice and compete at a high level regardless of location. Trap shooting uses an oscillating target launcher, which some find makes the game more predictable. The necessary leads in trap are generally smaller, especially from the 16-yard line, and some shooters can perform well without perfect technique.
Skeet shooting, on the other hand, emphasizes a smooth gun swing and requires generating lead on targets, particularly at stations 3, 4, and 5. While the shots are relatively close-range, any lapse in concentration can cost you targets.
A common saying is that trap is easier to learn but harder to master compared to skeet. Both sports require dedication and practice to master, and neither can be considered easier than the other.

I’m quite happy with this light touch - not really billed as advice I think, more the most respected opinion out there on a question we all occasionally dwell on (amongst a thousand others).🤷‍♂️

Trap is far easier for me. I have trouble seeing the clays against a high skyline. With trap, I can pick them up when they leave the thrower. It's an eyesight thing.

Trap, is easiest, but, just like George says, any shooting sport is what you put into it. Sporting Clays is gimmicky, and it is not as difficult as skeet. Skeet is the same every time you shoot, you would think it would be easy as time and effort goes by,, but, Skeet is a game of perfection, and not many people shoot to perfection.
