How to Score Clay Target Shooting?
In formal clay target shooting, targets are presented either as pairs or singles. In a true pair, two targets are launched simultaneously, while in a report pair, the second target is thrown when the gun fires at the first target. To score a target as "dead," a visible piece must break off from it. Dust puffs and plastic wads do not count as hits.
Scoring is essential in competitions, whether informal with friends or in registered events. Larger competitions have official scorers at every stand to record hits and misses. The score sheet is final, and the shooter with the most hits wins the competition. When practicing on your own, scoring is optional and less critical.
