Do you think with the correct mods the bike would be capable of out back trips ?
Depending on how “ snotty “ you want to ride , I wouldn’t take it in the Simpson or the harder rocker Flinders Ranges . It’s good for good dirt roads and fire trails , light sand . It’s a sort off roader - a bit more capable then a Suzuki 650 VStrom XT , but say less then a Triumph Tiger 800 X . It weights 231kg wet .
@ appreciate the reply,thanks
Great inside thanks for posting
Thanks for sharing, looking at one of these. They look pretty rock solid
The 2024 V7 also has catalytic converters in each exhaust side. The 2025 V85TT run extremely well STOCK with the single cat under the frame. I have zero issue with either bike except the V7 may be JUST a tad jumpy off idle cold where the V85TT seems to tolerate cold running better right after light-off.
@@Rower30-ye6qn my main reason for decat is heat reduction ( in hotter weather around feet ) Australian summers can get pretty warm . It’s a bonus in cooler weather. Also as a bonus is weight reduction and better sound .
I didn’t know that the V85tt runs hot in traffic. I’ve owned 3 V7s and a V9 and I never had any heat issues.
@RandomGRK Same experience here. My 2024 V7 STONE 10 runs cool as can be at even 95 F. My 2025 V85TT is SLIGHTLY warmer but in no way an issue. My V100S? Well, your leward side leg just cooks to the point of pain 80 F or above and 70 F in town. The V100S is a HOT house bike in the summer, better when it is COLD like in the 40's F. Since the V85TT and the V100S both have under seat catalytics, that's not the issue. It is the radiator on the V100S. Air cooled doesn't mean hot. Water cooled engines can run at a much higher and more controlled temperature for efficiency, that's good, but it is HOTTER on the rider. Air cooled need some flex as the ambient temperature is factored into the "air" that cools them. That said the V100S would run real close to the limit on the temp gauge in the summer in-town. Never seemed to cause an event but WOW, was there a lot of heat swelling up around you.
@@Rower30-ye6qn Thank you. So a decat on the V85 and it should run similar to the V7/9?
Love your modifications! I’m planning to do everthing the same like your bike. I’ve got the most parts already exept the steps. I had them also made on my XTZ850 4tx. It is really comfortable for long drives that you can change position. The one thing that I also bought on EBay is a module that both headlights are working on low beam. Just for people who are interested. 🇳🇱🏍️💪👍
Gave the bike more ground clearance and obviously more front tyre choice for a 18 to 19 inch front wheel. And more suspension travel
Can you give more information about your back suspension?
What information do you what mate ?
@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 The name of the brand. How much it cost? If have full settings? If you see big different than the original. Thanks
Yes all motorbike have problems.its seems to me that Italian bikes like cars are discriminated by the media .there is problems with German Japan bikes but no one makes a fuss abaut them just Italian
Yes agree , iv owned a Ducati Scrambler 800 , an Aprillia , Benelli 1130 Trek, and SWM , Plus 3 Triumph,s and loads of Jap bikes , most have an a few issues. I think people think back like in the 90,s and early 2000,s when Italian AND British bikes have some electrical issues. Theses days I think we’ll I must say KTM seems to have the most electrical problems now . Italian bikes generally are no worse theses days than Jap bikes in that area .
I gag and spit when I mention my honda too 😂
The inserts that came loose are called pop nuts, They are mounted with a special tool that expands part of it in the frame tube. I have used a lot of these and if mounted correctly they should sit there forever.🙂
Obviously they were not , one of then the bolt was actually stripped in the thread. But it’s all good now .
Sounds like your putted the Funnelweb in upside down ? The filter end is outside the box , with the black rubbish base going in the snorkel hole ( with grease around the bottom of it ) also if you have the frog skin then no point running a pre- filter as it will let through fine dust particles then by- passes the pre- filter . Just use the pre- filter when on dusty dirt roads or tracks ( obviously when it’s winter or wetter and on Asphalt- take the pre- filter out and run airbox open without snorkel .
Mate try the funnelweb prefilter to help keep dust out of airbox. Im running the frogskin box cover as well from 550 rather than those uni filter cutouts. Sems to stop most of the dust getting through with plenty of air.
Hey mate a couple questions. I've just tossed the ini filter for similar reasons but also I was getting lots of rubber particles inside the filter box which i presume was from chafing on rough roads and trails from the rubber against the plastic. Just changed to Twin air and also have the funnel web. The funnel web doesn't seem to fit properly well in that I mean there's and oval cutout on the box and an oval raised bit on the funnel web similar shape but cannot go et it to fit into each other so basically only the foam section goes into the box. I also have a 550 air filter box cover with the frogskin to let more air in. The setup seems pretty good but just wondering if you have shaved anything of your box to get the funnel web to fit better or it doesn't matter? And also are you oiling your filters in the twin air cartridge? Or just the pre filter didn't look like it? As still seemed very yellow. I much prefer the twin air system. Only had one really good ride with it and seemed to work well. A little dust made it to outside of filter and pre filter was pretty dirty. But have pretty much ended up where you are now. Maybe I will go to uni filter foam but at moment it seems ok.
There's literally nothing to go wrong on that bike. It's got to be the simplest and most accessible large bike on the market. The perfect low maintenance workhorse.
Yes mate a fantastic bike , just need to keep an eye on bolts coming lose , but mine has done a lot of off road as well . But a great 👍 bike
Yes mate what’s why 😂😂😂

Nice overview about mods, some of them may make it to my V85TT. I can give you a feedback on the Guzzi comfort seat: bought a used one, but in my opinion wasn't much of a difference, so i sold it again

@@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 Thank you!
Thanks for the videos. I'm considering one of these to complement my DR650 (which I will never sell). I'm in western Canada, and want something more longer distance touring oriented, but I still need some fair gravel capability. It sounds like the V85TT may be a good option.
@@andrewdunlop9930 , yes a good 👍 bike for light gravel roads “ just that right amount of travel for easy dirt 170mm from and rear . Simple air cooled engine ( like the DR ) I’m actually thinking of selling my Honda CRF 300 Rally and buying a 2003 Yamaha XT 609e for my more hard core stuff 👍
I removed the factory heated grips on my 2025 V85TT TRAVEL. Awful. I replaced them with Oxford PRO TOURING that are way, way, way better. While I was at it, I modded the throttle spring to have less return spring pressure. Check around for the You-Tubes on that. I also put the Oxford heated grips on my 2024 V7 STONE 850 Model 10. Same great performance. Oddly, the V85TT's seat heater can make pancakes out of your buns! WAY hot. I seldom go above "1". Weird the seat heater is so good and the heated grips are awful. They were awful on my V100S, too. Same design. Nothing till "3". Still, if it is 30 F you'll be squeezing them like you're on a flag pole on the top of the Empire state building trying to extract heat out of them. I experienced no heat issues on my 2025 V85TT compared to the V100S I traded (too hyper and "sport" bent for me). The V100S is REALLY hot above 80 F. Not so the V7 or ther V85TT. May be a relative thing. I really like the V85TT's ride, seated position and smooth accessible power. 80 HP is PLENTY for realistic stuff. I modded the bike at purchase to be a "strada" with cast wheels (lighter), no ugly bash plate, added the inner fender and a GIVI touring fairing to get stuff over my head.
I find the OEM heated grips fine for Australian conditions. Also I spend my winters up north in Australia we’re it’s warmer . So temp for me is not any lower than 6 degrees and 35max Summer . Also I like the indicator on the dash . But have used Oxford heated grips on other bikes for years a great 👍 product.
@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 Well, I have the Oxford PRO Touring heated grips on the V85TT but...the V7's throttle tube was the right O.D. (~25 mm) after you remove the small ridges to hold the stock grips. No problems after that. The V85TT with the Piaggio group (my 2025) switch gear for sure the throttle body tube is too big (26.25mm) an O.D. and you have to get creative and turn it down to fit a 25 mm spec. This isn't an easy thing to do for most people. Even a small amount, like 1 mil or so, is a REAL PAIN to do. Even as good as they are, I'd pass on this if you have the Piaggio groups controls (I know the 2025 V85TT are all going to be too big, 26.25mm, as will all the V100 series.) I sent a note to Oxford Products to see if they would add a ~26.25 mm grip I.D. to fit all the Piaggio group bikes (Moto Guzzi and Aprillia).
Really good informative video! Thx for sharing the mods to your bike, some really good ideas there! I have the 2021(also E5 spec) and I just love it - 20K miles now! Thinking of getting the VBoost - do I need to do the "decat" mod to utilize Vboost?
@@saltygrin2 , no you definitely don’t need to de- cat to fit V- boast
Thanks a lot for the very informative and tonic video 🦉🐬🐝 !
That single side shock and shaft drive has just got to be the most practical and accessible design combo of any motorcycle.
Yes VERY easy to access and even changing the shaft oil is easy and no chain maintenance.
Don't forget the super easy access to do the valve adjustments. This is how every motorbike should be built

Great video. I love the look of the V85. I almost got one in 2023, but a army green Pan America caught my eye and I love it, handles fantastic, and I use it as a commuter in Melbourne and touring the country roads.
I ride with a mate in North Queensland ( cairns area we’re I go for winter he has a pan America and loves it ) I do actually think that green does look great 👍, you will have to come for a ride up in Wodonga way sometime
What model year is this? Great review.
Great video, I needed to hear about all of these mods! thinking of trading in my 2019 V85TT, it's a great bike but the engine is strangled
Unfortunately manufacturers have to follow the EVER increasing emissions standards, so not their fault really . I’m amazed they are still keeping an air- cooled engine in production, the only other major manufacturer to do that is the Royal Enfield 650 engine. Most of my mods are to make bike ran smoother and cooler , which iv achieved. The power thing doesn’t concern me to much .
Decat, Upmap ecu flash, gtm pc6/at300 fuel correction = 27% more hp/torque on dyno. Runs way cooler, 30 lbs lighter, it's night and day.

Good review, We use Michelin Anakees last tyre lasted 10,000 miles and i reckon it wasn't done, could probably pushed it another 2k miles and still be legal, I changed the fronts at the same time but I reckon they could do 20k miles if pushed, Very little off road but some technical stuff and they held up well.
@@mvd944l Yes tyres are a very personal choice 👍
@@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 Indeed, everybody to his or her own
I mounted the Givi engine guard on mine, very good quality, and probably the most protection of any of them. The only downside is I have to back off a few bolts when doing a valve adjustment, which adds a little time to the task. Still a long way from the 3 days, and a thousand nutsb, bolts and push pins( which always break) I had to endure with my Ducati. Another good video sir.
I can do the valve clearance by taking the rear bolt out of the tank and lifting it and holding it with a bit of work, tight for the rhs but its doable I think mine are GIvi
@@sommebuddy Good 👍 to hear thanks
@@mvd944l I remove the tank bolt as well, but i find the Givi, which covers much more of the valve cover, is still difficult to lift out of the way, like you say, especially the right side.
@@sommebuddy Good we are on the same strategy!
My wife and I have a pair or V85's , really enjoyed them, 20K miles since we bought them in 22, biggest issue was the dealer, since I started maintaining them they have been great. One PITA for me is mines came with the tyre pressure monitor, always a hassle changing the tyres, in my opinion an added extra which give me more stress than not! I need to figure out how to get rid of it..
@@mvd944l I didn’t know they came with that , I’m sure their is a way to disconnect ? , other than that glad your happy with your V85tt
I have never seen a monitor on a V85tt, is it part of the factory GPS?.....By the way, great video from Sardinia.
@@sommebuddy The 22 travel came with them as standard, asked my dealer about taking it off but I think he confused it with brain Surgery!! Thanks glad you enjoyed it, have a look at the Morocco trip on you tube
@@mvd944l I will definitely watch, and yes, I have a 21 adventure, and test rode the 21 Strata, maybe that is why i have not seen the tire pressure monitor...cheers.

The mesh seat covers are awesome in hot weather. I bought mine for like 7$ here in Turkey. If you remove the rider back rest and re-install after installing the mesh, it looks much better. I did mine like that after seeing in a post.

Hi, I bought a 2022 travel around 2 months ago, after 12 years of not owning / riding a motorcycle. It has been a little over 3000km since I bought. I saw in the video that you raised the windshield. It is not touching the head lights. Can you make a video showing how? It would be really appreciated. Mine has a original touring screen, but not enough. I also installed a wind deflector, it works fine, but I would like to see how you raised the windshield.
I just saw the 15000km video, it seems that you explained the screen riser product.

Why have you replaced the superdual with the crf? I'm in the market now for a superdual, are they reliable enough? It'll be the first in my country, since there a dealer now.
Yes definitely reliable, I owned mine for 6 HARD years riding and off road,I sold to just get something different and we have no importer now ( what country are you in ? )
