Flathead PCV Valve Install! · Use an early style intake on a 8ba Flattie
Got a killer early style flathead intake that you really wanna run on your 8BA but don't know what to do with the filler tube and the blow by tube? Well, look no further, I'll show you how to modify the 8BA engine and install a PVC under the intake so you can use that early intake!
I love the Thickstun PM-7 hi rise intake myself, I run a similar Tattersfield intake on the Tom Seller's coupe and love the look! On this roadster we're working on we use a Mercury 8BA engine and I don't like the intake options for an 8BA so we grabbed the Thickstun hi rise and want to run it on this engine.
Here's the parts you'll need:
Microgard PCV 181
Dorman 42061 Grommet
2) 5/16" barbed hose fittings with 1/8" NPT
1) 90º barbed hose fitting with 1/8" NPT
1) T Fitting with 1/8" NPT Female on the ends and 1/8" male NPT
2' 5/16" rubber vacuum hose.
Your favorite early intake
59A style intake gasket

Hot Rod Rear Shocks!! · 1931 Ford Model A Build Part 7
Переглядів 86121 день тому
We're working away on the 1931 Ford Model A Roadster marking off stuff every week! This week we knock out some rear shocks on it using some custom brackets and some F1 pickup front shock arms!! Cut, grind, tack, tack, weld, grind more.... and we have some rear shock mounts. Mounting them to the frame and then using the rear bones as the mount for the F1 shock arm worked out perfectly! We're moving right along on the old roadster, this week we knocked out some copper/nickel brake lines and plumbed the 1939-48 Ford Master cylinder to complete the brake system! We used the early 1939-1941 Backing plates up front on a dropped 1934 axle with 1941 drums, then in the back we have a 1935 Ford rear axle with 1936-7 Lincoln Zephyr wishbones, we shorted the torque tube and then added 1...
How to spot a good Flathead Ford Engine!

We tear down a 8BA style flathead ford engine and show you where to look for the common cracks and problems. This engine was decent engine that we had to tear down for a customer that just wanted the block. 1931 Ford Model A Roadster build... This time we cut up a 1939/40 torque tube to work with the 1935 rear axle and hook to the trans! We had to take out the 1935 torque tube because they more of a tube instead of a solid shaft. They are also tapered to the outside ends so shortening one would be impossible. Hi, here in Ne England we only plugged one heat riser hole on street engines. Gave enough het for winters here but gave the "RAPPING" sound to the exhaust. Plugged both on our race engines though. Good video and substance. God bless the flat heads!!! We ran CANADIAN 59 A blocks as they were reported to have a higher nickel content. Never had one blow up but did loose a few AMERICAN ones. Sure would like to verify that s a fact.

it'll only get to about 180º inside there, plug oil all over the rubber to lube it... shouldn't be an issue until it's an issue!

Cool video. I’ve read about how to do this but never seen or done it myself. Was wondering if you were going to replace pinion bearings or rebuild rear since you might have gotten welding splatter on the exposed bearings when you welded driveshaft coupler pins in place.

The way I've done all mine is cut the torque tube to fit and what ever you cut out of torque tube is the same length you cut out of the drive shaft. Never had an issue. And I always use the 46 style radius rods they are shorter and disappear quicker under the frame.

Thank you! No the only part of the bearing exposed was the flat end. Won't be any problem with it. These rearends are tough.

In a perfect world... LOL I had to shorten the flanged end a little more when shortening the torque tube so no real exact measurement.

Nice truck!!! I had an original '34 deluxe panel, which was my dream until the body shop turned it into a nightmare. I regret selling it now.

What did the deluxe panel have different? I didn't know they made them.

I vote to leave it. It should look great once you get the fenders painted.

Yea I'm with you... I kinda just want the fenders to match and I think it'll look great!

Suggestion on revealing the old signage. First, there ain’t nuthin wrong with how it looks now! But I would be curious about the old advertising, too. Try using a “safe stripper”, one of the citrus based ones. I’ve had great luck with these because they work slowly, much less aggressive than solvent based strippers. This gives some control as you work through the layers. Maybe try a test panel, with a fine scotch brite pad to blend the paint layers. Great project, and great channel.
