    Thanks for the video.I have a question: At 5.55 you talk about an armpit hang and how it hurts like h***. I’m a theater costume / bridal designer and have recently falling in love with aerial costume and are at the moment working on a collection.Sourcing what's out there, a lot of costumes that I look at are made with straps.Would having an arm on the outfit, as in cover the armpit and part of your bicep help to make it less painful? Or does the contact/ friction of the skin on the loop help you to stay on the hoop.I have evidently never done a hoop but seeing pole dancers putting hairspray on their hands to make it easier to climb while also polish the pole to make them slide better.I wonder if skin contact matters in aerial.Basically I'm just trying to figure out what would make a good costume design.

      @diogochato_ 3 дні тому

      Hi Alex! From my experciences of years on hoops and trapezes the skin contact matters, ie, body/feet/knee/ankle/elbow bend maters, friction/grips/slips matters. The costume choice *depedens on the movements* the aerlist do on his/her tcoreography and also the skin resistence developed. For instance, if the lateral ankles are being used just once or twice for the transitions using the rope at the top of the hoop, maybe its ok to present the coreography with a light pantyhose. But, but if they are required more often, perhaps high socks is a better fit. So, for a better fit, i would suggest you this simple logic: "watch first, plan the costume later". 😊 Question: does make sense to avoid ribbons or loose ends on a costume if the coreography uses spins around the hoop? Hope this help you in your quest! 🙏

      @@diogochato_ Thank you for taking the time to answer.Every scrap of first hand knowledge / experience shared helps me a great deal in my quest to better understand the “why”when I'm drafting a pattern. I think there is something quite magical in aerial acts .But that many costumes are a bit bland. I would like to create costumes that make the whole act a feast for the eye.Where the audience feels even more captured and enthralled. The “ to avoid ribbons or loose ends on a costume if the choreography uses spins around the hoop?” Is an interesting question.Because I do love those little frills and fringes on the side of the hips.I never thought of it as something that could work in some acts but not others.Perhaps I could come up with a design solution where they are detachable and in that way make the costume more versatile.Thank you for bringing that question to my attention.I much appreciate it. I don’t have the luxury to "watch first, plan the costume later" because I don’t make the costume for a specific act or artist. I’m thinking of it as a business idea ,selling online.I’m looking a lot at old circus costumes, Moulin Rouge, retro Hollywood, Cirque du Soleil etc for inspiration / mood. Trying to work out how to create a similar look/feel.But at the same time using modern spandex / powernets fabrics as a base since movement is key.

    Very beautiful. I have a moon myself and would also love to see some beginners to intermediate choreography. I started with Lyra only a year ago and fell in love. I’m 51 yrs young so I can’t do all things as I’m not so bending and resilient. But I do what feels good and brings me joy. Thank you for all the amazing videos you offer 🫶🏾🙏🏾

    Really enjoyed this. I’m an amateur aerialist. I perform 4 x a year at my studio. My goal is always to be able to listen to the song and my body responds automatically. There are however some spots where I know I need a certain number of climbs or maybe it needs to be left hand high before s roll. So I am very much aware of those moments.
