Thank you mate! I have already received new motor and it also drifts in speed a bit - about 10hz and it stabilises then (w&f is totally different story). But i bought sony k81 motor that is fg servo - it should not drift, but i need to make psu for it. Also i was discussing with other xk 009 owners and they all say that this deck is drifting in speed by a bit and service manual gives +- 1,5 % drift in speed error…- thats a lot i think… Cheers!

Agreed, that is a lot. I was thinking of doing that same thing to my XK-007 before I had to use that extra motor from the K61 on my K65.

Can be lots of things: tape itself failing... something mechanically, like bad pinch roller, bad positioned pinch roller and so on so fourth... Cheers

I am using isopropyl alcohol bath and fine soft brushes and compressed air for that. Used ultrasonic cleaner once and it damaged switches. Cheers

Best way is to use digikey or mouser for getting capacitors and they ship i think everywhere, because i have heard from some of techies who tried tantalums that sound is strange and not as nice as with electrolyte ones. I personally have not tried to use tantalums instead of electrolyte ones. Cheers

Old story, take up capstan was shiny, after resurfacing with FeCl it now gets to 0.04with my far from perfect w&f test tape. Cheers

By this time if capacitors were not changed earlier - its not possible that they are survived by this time. Its my opinion after fixing lots of them. If you open device and there is smell of something like fish (sometimes different smell, but you maybe notice it) then 100% some of them or all of them spilled their electrolyte... Cheers!

Yes, i was also in sonys and panasonics, but after i have tried aiwa with hx head i have totally changed my opinion about aiwas. Aiwa have very nicely sounding machines like: px30, jx50, pl55….p202 is without hx head, but it also sounds very nice. Cheers

Hi! Tapetransport is actually the same, just head block is different from what i have seen and also modes motor is quieter on mk2. Personally i have never tried to swap them around but i think they are compatible. Also what is wrong with mk1 mecha? Cheers

And I have the chance to buy a complete serviced tape drive unit from an MK2 with a small platine for 125€. Think about to buy this und hope that it works with my MK1. What would you do? @@raulcordoba6965 hi, playback head connectors will be different due to mk2 is balanced one and mk1 not, but i think its not an issue just soldering will be required. Otherwise serviced transport from mk2 for 125 is good deal if it is really serviced :) Cheers

i am sorry, but you are wrong. TTS200 TTA161 or TCC130 and TCC130 is a regular DOLBY Test tape (400Hz 218nWb/m). Please use google, serious tapeheads forums and correct service manuals. Cheers!
