From the video, it appears the swab is the best in consistency, although I'd wonder how well it transfers shimmer in those kinds of inks. The brush is probably the best with that aspect, but I doubt I'd want to deal with that much ink and the drying time needed. What I do is use an eyedropper to pull up some ink, having shaken the bottle so I get a fairly decent homogeneous mix of the whole body of the ink, then squeeze 2 drops of ink onto the swatch card, then smear it around with the bottom of a small glass bottle. Almost any small glass bottle with a flat bottom will do fine. That spreads the ink around enough to give you sample spots of shimmer, sheen, less ink, more ink (usually in the center where it pooled). It's been working well for me. The biggest variable to deal with is the quality of paper being used as swatch cards.

I got the same Weeks cover last year and used it for a wallet for the majority of this year, and it worked out fantastic. I even had the clear cover on my weeks and it fits inside perfectly. Unfortunately, the magnet on the Tragen means it's not recommended to use as a wallet, since it'll disrupt the magnetized strips on your cards, but I can see how it would be handy as an EDC with the pen pocket! The surprise puppy photos are adorable! A great haul video :)

I can’t stop cracking up at the banana ripening. 😂 Your puppy is so cute! The material of the tragen keeps reminding me of something I had in the ‘80’s but I can’t place what it was. Maybe parachute pants? I don’t think I had actual parachute pants, but I had a pink and black jacket of that material that I loved. I got the same Unsodo Weeks and the Cousin Hon. I love those patterns.

What grinds do you have on your Pelikans? I have a medium nib that I need to get tweaked because it's just too broad for me.

I don’t think Kirk Spear is capable of selling a poorly performing nib. I purchased two pens at the Triangle Pen Show. An Artcraft Celtic Dragon from Kirk. The tactile feel of this pen is fantastic, and the John, the maker of the pen, is very responsive and easy to work with. I also bought a beautiful Red & Black Ebonite pen from DarailPenz. Nice haul.

Gorgeous! I’m a “regular” watercolorist but have never tried ink art. I am also a fountain pen enthusiast and use them for both writing and sketching. I actually live within an easy drive to Thoreau’s Walden Pond and have walked around it. What dilution of bleach water do you use? You don’t seem to worry about leaving it on the paper.

This new Kaweco fountain pen with piston mechanism is a charming and coherent continuation of the Sport series. The design is an absolute success, but it has one flaw that surprises me. The dimensions of the new Kaweco are identical to those of the regular Sport model, with one exception: the section goes deeper into the cap. On the regular Sport model, it measures 3.7 cm, while on the Sport Piston, it measures 4.3 cm. For this reason, the fountain pen is 6 mm shorter. This inexplicable fact reduces writing comfort, giving the strange impression that something is wrong. That's very unfortunate...

I ordered the exact pen with the same nib size from the same store in Italy. However, mine comes with the 30ml blue ink bottle and is halfway on it’s journey to me, l’m excited.

I was really surprised when someone from a popular pen company when I talk to him could not pronounce Kaweco correctly. He said. Kaw wake oh! Ugh! This guy is a professional. And I even pronounced it properly just to give him a little clue. And he pronounced it back to me the other way lol 😆 I think you may have just penabled me to get this pen, but then again, I do collect Kaweco pens!
