My wife's company makes protection wears for sport (its a big company you will all know the name of), and a part of that includes offroad, MX segment - which is steadily decreasing every year here in the US and Europe. Off road & dual sport is a decreasing market - buyers are more interested in simple urban transportations - like scramblers and ADV bikes which they never take on serious off road. Also, 60% of motorcycle buyers NEVER buys new bikes - they only buy used (per insurance companies). So bike manufacturers are not only competing with each other, they have to compete against used market. Thus, Japanese 4 has moved into urban mobility (scooters and smaller bikes) market and also hugely invested in the developing countries in the 90s. To give you the idea, the smallest of the Japanese 4, Suzuki's case: As of 2022/23, their annual PROFIT (not sales) in one major developing market of India matches the entire global revenue/sales figure of KTM. KTM and BMW are so far behind that of Japanese 4 in developing countries that they have to share factories with local manufacturers such as CF Moto / Bajaj in order to break into their markets - not only losing out on profit but also on cost of market as well. So don't worry about Japanese 4 - they know what they are doing and it's not like they don't know how to make a good bikes - they will wipe out KTM if they choose to (they have quality and tech on their side...and huge logistics that KTM will never catch up with). Its just that the off road market (and Sports bike market too) is no longer worth putting lots of resources to when you have much larger piece of pie available to you. Especially true when we have Euro 6 kicking in soon with much stricter access to trails and parks these days.

My Maternal grandfather was a hill climber and cross country racer on Indian motorcycles in the 1920’s and 30’s in Southern California, Nevada and Colorado at Pikes Peak. That is until he lost part of his right foot in a crash while racing the Reno to Vegas in the 30’s. Grandma put her foot down demanding enough was enough. Lol!

I’m a pretty bad rider on trails and dirt, but a few years ago I had the chance to ride a Christini Honda with a bunch of much more experienced riders. The confidence boost was miraculous and I was able to keep up with the group in very gnarly single track trails, water crossings, and mud. However I understand why better riders don’t need the advantage. Which makes me wonder why not put the system on ADV bikes? Bikes that are often ridden by less experienced older riders who haven’t been riding trails since they were teenagers (like me). A Tenere 700 with 2wd would be a dream

Call it wonky but I’ve always built what I wanted. Whether a downhill BMX bicycle with a road bike crank set for it’s bigger chain wheel or my saw for cutting seasoned oak for grilling only. Don’t get me started on air cooled boxer engines. I could build one in my sleep.

I try to search all of this secret in 4 years in google, wiki,scribd, internet archive and i dont get anything information of this bike technical engine. its interesting to learn how the fuel proagation in the cylinder bang the gas and reducing a half or more emission than conventional 2 stroke. This exp 2 engine is so unique and so misterious like B2 bomber. Honda technology back then was two step ahead than any other competitor of 2 stroke engine. I search it in a year until i found this videos. Thanks dude. 👍 Edit : arggh the extinction of two stroke engine still make me sad. And this engine got forgotten in decades.

I have the same motorcycle I can describe it like a childhood crush unforgettable. My longest ride was 650km with one coffee stop it feels amazing once you have it you don't want anything else it's more than enough.

Japanese makers are way too ignorant about india. Both Yamaha and Honda release outdated bikes in india.. especially Honda.

Imagine this technology on a Yamaha 700 raptor. It would be a straight Hoss on muddy trails, and be way lighter than a Kodiak 700 or Grizzly 700.

its so weird that this came into my youtube feed, i just finished building an awd 3000w ebike this week, i started with a folding 1500w fat tire ridstar h26, but i added a second 1500w motor, battery and controller to the front wheel, the right hand does the rear throttle and brake and the left hand does the front throttle and brake, its crazy how easy it it to go over obstacles with instant torque control to each individual wheel, and as an added bonus i can ride it in the park and through bike lanes in traffic without arising suspicion "im just another bicycle" (as long as i dont ride like an asshole)

Good review/documentary. With todays tech and materials I think they could modify this system to work very good on dirt bikes.

Way cheaper with an electric front motor. Way more simple to work on and better control

Im 59 now, was 14 when I first handled a Bullet which had the gear shift on the right and brake on the left. I was skinny and people would wonder how this kid rides this beast. Starting the bike needed some skill as you had to decompress and level the amp meter before you venture to kick start the beast, not done correctly and it would punish you! Along the way I made some good friends who were bullet owners and wanted to do some hands on maintenance and oil changes which I would readily do in exchange to get an opportunity to ride the beast! I could not afford to buy one.One of these friends changed my life for the better, I moved to the Gulf. Had to keep biking on the back burner as I got employed, got married, kids. The time has come, as kids have grown up and I have retired. Here I am scouting to buy the Royal Enfield classic, to fulfil my dream and ride the beast .....once again! Thank you Sid, for bringing glory to this brand which was kind of almost forgotten.
