Had a slow leak for a couple of days, so decided to plug the the tire. This was my first time plugging a tire and I was so nervous. Once we got moving, we made our way to Sarajevo to visit the Sarajevo 1984 Olympic Ski Jump site, and it's respective medal stand, and then visit the Bobsled and Luge tracks. The Bobsled run is now used by graffiti artists as their canvas, but the run is spectacula...

    So, you're an American traveling through Europe and had no euros in your pocket! Don't you think there was something missing there? My fellow Albanian policemen were too kind to you as they could've easily turned you back to Montenegro so you could withdraw some euros which would have been a hard lesson for you. Hope you know now that you should have some cash with you when you travel through borders?

      Albania's currency is the Albanian Lek so I anticipated that any fees/charges/etc in the country would be in the national currency. Plus, as I continued my travels, I wasn't returning to a country that used the Euro as their currency (such as North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova) so I made sure I used all my Euros before I left so I didn't end up with extra money sitting in my pocket that can't be used. I do carry cash; just happens to be USD, as I have found it's the most widely accepted currency outside of a national currency.

    I live in the UK, this was a really useful description of budgeting on a European tour. As mentioned money could have been saved on ferries. Eg. The Dover Calais ferry or Eurostar Chunnel train can be pretty cheap, if you're careful about when you cross. Accommodation costs could have been saved by using Bunk a biker or membership of some kind of international biking group where members sometimes offer home stays. Occasional home stays are in credible, because you really get to see how people live in different countries. I reckon the cost of getting the bike here and back wasn't far short of the the cost of the whole trip? Anyway, well done on organising and implementing the whole trip...that sure was a lot of travelling?

    • @adventuristmoto
      @adventuristmoto Рік тому

      Actually, the cost to ship the bike from NY to Southampton was only $1,000. Pretty cheap actually. Series 2 (or 3; not sure if I will get around to editing the Nepal trip) will start up shortly, where I go from Eastern Europe to Australia (if the borders will allow). I love to travel, so it didn't feel like it was a lot. It felt "normal", like it was what I was supposed to be doing at that time.

    • @adventuristmoto
      @adventuristmoto Рік тому

      I don't define adventure as where I lay my head at night. Half of my trip was in Western Europe and it can be very expensive to find lodging there. Plus, this isn't a 1 or 2 week trip. This is my life, I travel full time and live on my bike, so I am ok to spend a little bit of money to actually sleep in a bed, have a bathroom, have a shower once in a while, plus I need wifi to actually upload videos. Lastly, after have been in a bad bicycle accident, where I was hit by a car, and I couldn't walk and had to spend 3 months in a wheelchair, my body hurts a bit after sleeping on the ground after a few days, so actually having a bed, to me, is something I am willing to pay for.

      I have thought about a different bike, but I am of the belief that "You go to war with the army you have, not the army you want", so I stick it out with the GS. I have thought about shipping the bike home and buying a more efficient bike, and honestly, one better suited to go around the world (i.e. lighter, less complicated, easier to work on, more availability of parts, etc.), but at this point, we are a team. Lastly, I am ok to spend the money. I always want to save money, but travel is so important to me, that I am willing to spend a little bit of money to have an incredible experience. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.

      @@adventuristmoto Hi Stephen, although everybody has different priorities and budgets, I totally agree with you. Do not travel in order to save money, do it for the experience. At our age we hopefully saved enough money to reward ourselves according to our terms. I wouldn’t waste money unnecessarily either, but I’m not willing to miss-out or be miserable just to save a few bucks. Some coworkers asked me how much I paid for our trip to Nepal and they answered “I would never pay that”. Well, I guess they’ll never go where we went. I replaced my 2007 R1200GSA with a 2021 Tenere 700. The Yamaha is simpler and lighter alright, but I’m gonna get another GS when the new model comes out. I traveled on GS’s in Australia, Europe, Mexico and all over the USA (a lot off-road). I never had any major issues aside a fuel-pump Relais. That, I was able to Hotwire to get me “home”. I did the COBDR and other routes with the T7, but I’m just not warming up to it. On the freeway it hangs around 6000rpm where the GSA was around 3000. Unless you’re mostly riding technical tracks, I find the GS better. Picking the GSA up was easier too due to the way it lands on the crash bars. Even serious single tracks are no fun on a loaded T7. For that stuff I prefer my FE501. For efficient long distance travel on mixed terrain, I’ll always prefer a GS/GSA. The fuel consumption is surprisingly not hugely better on the T7 either. I was expecting better. Nowadays, it is “relatively easy” to get parts shipped almost anywhere. Sometimes you just have to be a bit more patient or resourceful. About your wreck. Accidents can happen, but if someone is overly worried about them, don’t ride. Cheers!

      Great interesting topic and very timely. I am going to spend 2 months travelling the UK and Europe this year, to start with, I am shipping my old DR 650 from Australia and leaving the bike in Croatia until I next get back there. I am planning to do mostly camping to keep costs down, I found in my other trips that accommodation and transport were the most expensive costs, food is cheap if you don’t eat in restaurants, so I will have my trusty old Trangia stove to cook some simple meals at the end of the day. Thankfully I am Scottish by birth so being tight with money is in my DNA, but some costs you just have to live with I guess, google is your friend in that there is always options to things, you just have to find them. 👍👍👍👍

    • @adventuristmoto
      @adventuristmoto Рік тому

      Hey Andre. As I age, I have different priorities and use my money for what I want. I was in a bad bicycle accident years ago, so my body hurts a bit more, so I am willing to pay for a bit more comfort, however, I do find that food is usually not that important to me, so I generally eat pretty cheap unless it's with wine, then the bills start to add up. I love your comment about others not willing to pay for certain experiences (or to go where we have gone) when you say, "then they'll never go where we went". That really sharpens the point! I love my GS, and it's great on the roads, particularly on the highways/toll roads/motorways/etc., however, I rarely go on those roads. I like to be on the backroads and my speed is generally around 45mph so I am not using the big 1200cc engine to it's capacity and needing the speed or the lower revs. I actually think the 850GS would be the perfect bike. It's lighter, has the off-road capabilities, the engine is bullet proof and can be worked on anywhere in the world. However, I do agree the big GS is pretty easy to pick up due to the way it falls on the guards and panniers. Actually, I addressed the savings part for a couple of reasons: 1 - Everybody wants to save a little bit, no matter who you are, and 2- I have seen a couple of other motorcycle UA-cam creators completely abandon their motorcycle overlanding lifestyle due to money, so I thought I would address it. I was saddened to learn that both people couldn't continue what they loved due to money, and I miss watching their channels. But agree, I am ok to spend the money for the things I want.

    You once again showed favoritism to one side in the conflict by saying that Kosovo is independent since 2008, wihich is not correct, because Kosovo is de jure autonomous province of Serbia called Kosovo and Metohija, while being de facto independent. It was an unilateral decleration of independence which is recognised by 83 out of 193 countries in the United Nations, while not being part of many international institutions including UN, Council of Europe, Interpol, Unicef... So as I said in your previous video your lack of knowlage is clearlly showing, and because of it you come out as at best ignorant and at worst malicious by being haevelly one sided. To understand what even Kosovo mean for Serbs you just have to look the meaning of the word Kosovo (field of black birds) and battle of Kosovo field (Kosovo polje) in 1389. where Serbian army led by Duke Lazar Hrebeljanović fought the Ottoman Turks led by Ottoman sultan Murad the First, it is a site of the christian last stand against muslim invaders, where Serbs and other christians defended Europe from Ottoman conquest, Kosovo and Metohija has our medieval imperial capital city of Prizren, our spiritual capital Peć seat of Serbian Orthodox Church, our medieval industrial center and fortress of Novo Brdo, our medieval fortress of Zvečan, and hundreds of monasteries that are hundreds and some even more than a thousand years old, such as Gračanica, Visoki Dečani, Bogorodica Ljeviška, and many many more, all our dukes, kings and emperors reigned from Kosovo and Metohija (Metohija by the way means church land) and as such Kosovo was political, spiritual and industrial center of our nation. When you said that old stone bridge in Prizren was built with stone from an old abandond monastary, monastery in question being Monastery of Holy Archangels built by emperor Dušan in 1352 on the site of an early christian church, it was not abandond by the Serbian Orthodox monks but razed and destroyed by the Ottoman Turks, only that rubble from the momastery to be used in 16th and 17th centuries as construction material not just for the bridge but also for Sinan-pasha Mosque in Prizren. So do not sugar coat history with ignorance or malicious intentions. Learn more, before you speak about anything, read about history of Kosovo, about ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Prizren and from all over Kosovo and Metohija done by Albanians, about true reasons that things are the way that they are today regarding Kosovo, than you may be able to make unbiased report made on facts and not based on ignorance and western propaganda.

      Hi @kaudzssol1449, thank you for your responses on both of my videos about Serbia and Kosovo. I wanted to say Thank You for bringing up the situation between Serbia and Kosovo and it's continued struggles. I am fascinated by the history, political issues, cultural elements and its future, and have continued to read up on the issue. It has lead me to read multiple articles, reports and online pages about Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and conflicts going back to the 1300's. I still don't know enough to take a side, as the issues are from multiple ethnic, religious, historical, and political sides, but I wanted to say Thank You for bringing it up as I continue to learn about the world.

      @@adventuristmoto You already picked your side, by disregard for historical facts, ignorance of recent past and by openly embracing the western narrative of Yugoslav civil war, which is your right, but do not pretend to be unbiased and apolitical on the issue. I wish you all the best in your future travels and for you to gain more insight about the country or entity you would be visiting then you had regarding Serbia and Kosovo and Metohija, since you talked about it. These remarks were not meant to target you personally, but to point out the greater depth of the issue we talked about and to try swaying you a little bit to the side that Serbs know to be on the side of the truth. But as I encouraged you to learn about Serbian history of Kosovo and Metohija, so do with history of Albanians in Kosovo, both their suffering and historical events in which they participated as a nation, and come to your own conclusion, but it is paramount for everybody to exit the vicious cycle of western fed lies and propaganda, which engulf the minds of many people around the world. I wish you good luck and best of health in your life going forward.

      Thank you for responding, but I hope I have conveyed in the video that I don't know enough about the situation to have an opinion if either side was in the right or wrong and I understand that every situation has multiple sides. My video was to look at it from a different perspective, that of the fear of being in the city while a missile hit a building and the idea of leaving a bombed building as a memorial. I only address the bombed buildings for about 2 minutes in my video (from 1:55 minute mark - 3:55 minute mark) which isn't sufficient time to address either side of the issue with sufficient time or information. Plus, if you continue to watch the video to the 5:30 minute mark, I say "Belgrade, you were incredible... and your people were so friendly". I loved Belgrade and in no way meant to imply that I agreed/disagreed with either side of the conflict.

    President of Yugoslavia Slobodan Milošević died before he was convicted, so he is not convicted of war crimes. NATO aggression was not approved by United Nations Security Council, and it was not justified as such, because goal of Yugoslavian Army was not to etnichly clense Albanians from Kosovo and Matohija but to restore order in province and stop separatist terrorist organisation of KLA, which commited nummerus crimes (terrorism, mass murder, rape, organ traficking, drug trafficking) against Serbs and other non Albanians in Kosovo as well as all Albanians that were loyal to Yugoslavia. KLA was until NATO aggression in 1999 classified by CIA as terrorist organisation, just to be turned into freedom fighters during the NATO aggression. Curently KLA leaders are being tried for war crimes in International Court for KLA crimes in Netherlands. Nato did not just target military buildings and as you said dual purpose buildings but also hospitals, schools, tv stations, residental buildings, moving trains and buses, as well as killing more then 2500 civilians... Now you may say that this is propaganda that I have been fed as a Serb, but aren't your media also feeding information to you that is propaganda too, so it is imperative to be more informed and listen to both sides of the story before coming to conclusion about anything, especially sensitive topic such as NATO aggression.

      I hope I didn’t convey an acceptance or accusation to either side of the conflict, and around the 3:20 minute mark I comment that “I don’t know enough to have an opinion” and around the 2:55 minute mark I say “every conflict has multiple sides to it”. I wasn’t taking a side and was more interested in the horrors of war, the impact on people and keeping a bombed building as a memorial. Thank you for correcting me on President Milošević’s death prior to a trial. That was my mistake in my comment.

      @@adventuristmoto When you talk about NATO aggression on former Yugoslavia, as a westerner you can not distance yourself from propaganda of the Colective West, neither can I as a Serb from what we know to be truth, so frankly speaking you can not make unbiased commentary on NATO aggression, nobody can to be honest, I for example did not mention in my comment both alleged, Račak for example, and real war crimes done by Serbian police and Yugoslav Army against Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija. The root of the problem is what started the war Albanian failed secession in the 1980, 1990, 1998, 1999 and NATO unprovoked aggression or alleged ethnic cleansing of Albanians from Kosovo done by the Yugoslav Army. So no you did not convey an acceptance of the NATO aggression, but when you said that Milošević is convicted of war crimes you have indirectly blamed Serbia for the conflict, by simple omission to mention that KLA or Kosovo Liberation Army leaders and hundreds of their fighters are being trialed right now in the Hague. All best in your future travells.

In war people are dying, but Serbian Army haven’t targeted civilians in some cruel plan to ethnically clean that part of country. That is an absolut lie and you are taking side by that statement. Serbian Army (Yugoslav Army at that time) were fighting terorists which haven’t started with terorist acts in 1999. but 20 years before that. On lower scale, but with the same goal, independent Kosovo. What right had NATO to intervene in internal conflict? To end the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo's Albanian population? Than why NATO didn’t try to stop ethnic cleansing in Croatia in 1995. when Croatian Army in military action ethnically cleaned whole minority population of Serbs in Croatia?

As for skull tower it's most likely because it's a place with an entrance fee and their only attraction is to see the thing so I think that they think that if people film it less people will come to see it...
